Alphonse sat in a plush but worn chair across from an old human man, the owner of the keep in which he twitchily waited. It was one of the only points in the Tulgey that could be easily picked out from the air, what with the clearing of forest around it and its height that rivaled its closest trees. His father had ordered several packages from outside the Wood for his doll-making and, since Alphonse was still at home, he'd sent the squirrel-bat to go and retrieve them when they were delivered. Which should be sometime that day. So of course, to avoid the sun, he was cloistered away in the man's house, moodily listening to him chat about one of his experiments. He was one of 'sweet little Femi's children' and the man expected him to have to be polite. Which he did. Echeh. It was distasteful, but Mommy had told him one too many times for him to do anything but nod and stare in irritation at the closed and curtained off window. He had deliberately kept his animal form so that he didn't have to drink any of the things offered to him. Who knew whether or not the human mixed up his drinks? He'd been at the keep for nearly eight hours, having flown there just before dawn that day so that he could avoid the burning, painful light of the sun. It also meant that he was cranky at being still awake, since he preferred sleeping in the morning after dawn and waking up sometime in the early afternoon. A disturbed sleep schedule made for a cranky Alphonse.

Sabe had received the orders for that day. The box was well protected and wasn't all that heavy, so he tucked it away in his pouch that he carried on his side. He wouldn't want it to fall away before the days end. He decided that he would leave in the morning just as the sun rose so that he could have enough light to have to fly by. Flying around in the dark wasn't something that he carried to do often, and yet sometimes it was necessary to do so... he just didn't like to do it. Many things jumped out at night to break a wing or worse. So he started to fly to the address in Tulgey Wood. He knew about the bad reputation that would await him there, so he had deiced that he wouldn't send anyone else to do it. It wouldn't help business if his messengers would die while in or at dangerous places meant that the post or package was never delivered. The wood was before him as he moved closer and closer to the the aura that preceded it. It felt foreboding and yet he was protected, for his wings countered this aura with its own. Yet... it wouldn't really go away, for these woods were far older than his wings and was more magically inclined to do what it did best. Searching for the keep wasn't the hardest part... it was the part that finding the entrance in which he was suppose to enter from. It wouldn't help trying to use a door that no one would be at. So he deiced that he would use what appeared to be the front door. He landed, feeling the full effect that the place gave off... everything within him told him to flee and not return, and yet he was dedicated to delivering this package no matter what. He knocked on the door awaiting for someone to answer. It was a large place after all... it could take someone a good bit of time before they arrived.

Both the human and Alphonse turned their head towards the door to the stairs when they heard a knock. "I'll get it. You stay up here," Vren told him, moving towards the door and going downstairs. It would indeed take him a few minutes to reach the bottom, since his office was two stories up.
The vampire snorted and waited a few seconds for the man to get a head start before he stood and stalked out the door. He would avoid windows and shafts of sunlight, but he was in a surly mood and didn't feel like doing everything he was told. Really, he still had some of the petulance and stubborn nature of a child. He'd never been forced to grow out of it.
Reaching the front door, Vren peered out a small hole and raised his eyebrows. Then he opened the door and nodded his head evenly to the man he could only assume to be the messenger. His bag was a reasonable hint. "Hello? May I help you?"
Alphonse landed behind the man a few seconds after that, staying well back from the sunlight coming through the door and staring at the Kahmden with narrowed red eyes.

The old man didn't surprise the Kahmden heron who had been delivering things for most of his life. He also inclined his head to him in common respect for those who showed it. He spotted the albino quickly after he had landed. His encounter with many so many breeds and the such made him always be careful what was around him.
He gave a cheery smile as he introduced himself to the two.
"I am the master postman Sabe of Sabes Safe Transport Corporation, here to deliver you package which was received two days ago and arrived this morning and delivered on time within the amounted time of record." he said as he opened the pouch to produce the package and a clipboard.
"If you would but sign here on this line stating that you received this package in good condition and time, then I would be ever so pleased and ready to leave on payment of delivery." he said as he tapped the line indicated making the whole thing sound as if he had done it many many times before.
He awaited the man to sign producing a pen for the signing as well.

Quite the rehearsed speech. Vren inclined his head towards the man and took a few steps back, motioning him inside. "It actually isn't my package. If you could take a few steps inside, my companion can sign and accept, and then you'll be on your way. Alphonse, biped form." The last few words were said as a command.
The vampiric squirrel bristled at the tone, unable to directly disobey the man due to his seniority and Femi's reaction if she heard of so much as a hint of disrespect towards her 'Uncle Vren'. He hissed a little at the man, displeasure transferring from the situation to the avian who 'caused' it, never mind that he had been hired to do just that. Alphonse didn't care. He wasn't the one who wanted the package. His father should have just come and done it himself. He hated being awake during the day. It made him so cranky.
"Echeh. Well? Out of the sun," he snapped at the man, quite rudely.

Sabe didn't take much offence just yet... but he was still on edge because of the region that he was in. He had heard many a story escape the boughts of these woods, and truth be told... he was quite scared.
Yet... He knew that he would be ok, somewhat. He had protections that would saftly guide him out of a sticky situation. Much like that and the other weird card that he had meet out on the streets about a good week ago in the Capital.
So he stepped into the room away from the shafts of light so the... Long pointed fanged albino squirrel? Well... you see new stuff in weird places.
"So you will be signing for this?" he asked in the direction of Alphonse. Now he knew a name to a face in which he would remember. Sabe did have a good memory after all.

The bird was aggravatingly level-headed. He didn't so much bat an eye at the provocation. Vren was pleased enough with his bearing, but it irritated Alphonse that he didn't react, just did as he'd suggested and pretended there hadn't been any underlying hissy cow to the words. He liked having his snits acknowledged. Nrr. And now he was going to have to assume his biped form to actually sign for the stupid thing. He hissed in foul temper, showing off the ridiculous length of his fangs as the edges of his muzzle pulled back, and slowly changed forms to one with hands. Being forced to wear a form he didn't feel like, combined with a lack of sleep, sore eyes from staring out the door into the sunlight, having his 'tude ignored, and just generally being an ornery little turd didn't mix well. He snatched up the pen and scribbled his name in Tulgey.

Sabe was starting to wonder about this one... he seemed to be quite cranky and seemed to have been provacating his bearing this whole time.
And yet...
It didn't help that Sabe wasn't himself for the past few weeks. Things about him were falling apart and he had been looking for something to do that would be a stress releafe... even if it was just back bitting words and such... yet he wouldn't want to be the one to start it. Potental perscribers to his company were here. He would only do this if the club would inatite it.
but he would edge it on...
"Be there something the matter, Alphonse?" he asked with a mocking tone to his hiss.

Vren stared down at the young squirrel mix with a mildly annoyed face. The young man was no longer a child, but he'd never grown out of being a terrible brat. Always in a snit, this one. He didn't know how Femi and Kazifel stood having him home all the time. It would aggravate him to hell and back. None of the three children who'd served him all throughout their childhoods had ever spoken with such tones, at least not around him. Blatantly insulting a Queen who had done nothing at all to deserve it besides performing his duties? The boy was far too used to being around his mother.
And there, that was the man acknowledging his mood as his father never would! Alphonse's red eyes widened, and then narrowed to slits, making him look like he was squinting. Which, really, he was. He couldn't glare properly at the man when there was some measure of sunlight behind him. It hurt his eyes.
"Your realm is the matter," he hissed back, standing taller and flaring his wing-arms slightly. He wasn't as tall as this man, having so much squirrel in him, but he had plenty of fluff and wing to make his visual bulk larger. His taunts were childish and sounded downright snotty. "Didn't think they would send a filthy Outsider here."

Sabe had an inward smile at first, which then disipeared as he started to talk about his realm. That would not do at all. He loved the realm that he came from more than he liked that he was a club. He glared at the squirrel and flared out his white wings in anger, raising his arms ever so slightly in as if accepting his chalage.
"Don't worry too much about it. I'll be leaving this backwater place soon enough." he noticed then that the white Tugly didn't like the sun all that much. With an idea did he move from his path allowing most of the light to come inside.
"Leaving you to fester in this realm." he said with a smile.
