Babies. EVERYWHERE. Xiven rubbed her temples as she sat on the edge of her bed. Four children was hard work when you had papers to do as well. And of course, Xiven wasn't going to let a nanny touch them... she wanted to actually raise her children like a good mother. Though she completely understood why her Mom had slacked off. She squeaked when her tail was suddenly chomped on. It didn't hurt, she just didn't expect that sort of thing. She swished her tail watching the little yellow child cling on to dear life with his mouth and hands. .... "Fluffy! Do you want to help Mistress and play with Xander, Virtute, Mercutio and Othello? I think they want to play with you." She asked in her nicest Fluffy voice. She hoped that her pet would actually help out. She turned around to tickle Xander off her tail, at least she figured out something that would work. Meanwhile Othello was laying on the floor with one paw over his face. He didn't want to see the scary weird things he kept seeing. Maybe if he ignored it they would go away. Xander flopped on the bed after being tickled and continued to flail, batting at his mother's tail and hands.

Virtute mewled desperately from where she lay, looking around the room with wide yellow eyes, carefully walking across the room on large paws that trembled with each step. Her head swung on her neck like it was too heavy, and in a way it was - the kitten was growing fast, but she still had very little control over her body and most of her muscles were not yet strong enough to support her limbs. Even in her early years, her paranoia manifested itself in clear ways. Whenever she wasn't closely attended to by her parents or siblings, the tiny kitten would begin to cry, her voice weak and shaking, orange eyes seeking out some sign that someone - anyone - would be there soon, tickling her belly until her stuttering purr worked its way free from her chest. Now that she could walk on her own the situation had improved, but only very slightly - she stumbled to her mother's ankles, butting her head against the biped woman's leg and letting out a weak and heartbreaking mewl that stuttered with her purr, which seemed much too loud to come from a kitten so small. A stark contrast from his whiny sister, Mercutio was perfectly content to lay where he was, in a scrap of sunlight that meandered its was through his mother's window. He was purely canine in body, but with his pack of mostly feline siblings and grandparents, it was no surprise that he acted the way he did - it was already becoming evident that unlike the other coyotes in his family, his tail only twitched when he was displeased. It was twitching now, the movement flowing along its strange length, showing exactly how he felt about his noisy siblings and their cries for attention. He just wanted to sleep while the sun was still strong!

Fluffy sat in her basket, low to the cushion, watching over the edge as her mistress dealt with the little children running around. She thought they were absolutely precious, she really did... but she was hesitant to get too close. She didn't know when it would be time for Xiven to find them homes, after all, and she didn't want to get attached and have it hurt like losing Waffles had hurt. She hadn't talked about it. She'd just... dealth with it, since that seemed to be what her owner expected. But it hurt. When she was addressed, her head perked up and she sat properly, looking up at Xiven and nodding. "Meer. Yes. Fluffy helps." If she was told to, of course she would. Was it possible to play with them and not get attached? She honestly didn't know. She stepped out of her basket and approached the child that was most directly aggravating the Queen, picking him up in her mouth by his scruff and carefully avoiding the flailing limbs on his back. She carried him a little ways away and sat down to roll him around with her paw.

Xiven's ears pulled back when Virtute butted her head against her legs. Of all the children she was the one who needed the most attention. If it wasn't from her siblings she practically clung to either of her parents. She disparately hoped that the little kitten would grow out of it. For now Xiven leaned forward and picked up the girl to, if she cooperated, brush her mane a bit.
Xander didn't appreciate being taken away from Mommy. He wanted attention too! He wiggled a bit in protest when Fluffy lifted him up, but he didn't try to grab anything like he had with Mommy. Fluffy was generally something that Mommy didn't let him play with. A confused mew escaped Xander when he found himself being pawed at. Once rolled around he batted at Fluffy's paw in exasperation.
Othello removed a paw from one of his eyes to see if all the scary things were gone. He let out a small yelp when he saw a scary old man walk towards him--and then covered his eyes with his paw again. With a small whimper he removed the paw from his face and stood up, eyes closed, and quickly moved forward. Only to trip and fall right in front of where his brother Mercutio was soaking up the sun. He flailed, trying to make contact with something! He just didn't want to open his eyes.
"Four of them..." Xiven muttered. She had no idea how other parents dealt with so many children when she was practically going mad--and this was her "day off" from work. "Othello... leave your brother alone." She called out watching the mixed child flail. She didn't want to have to get up and separate the two.

Virtute had just opened her mouth to mewl again when she felt the comforting weight of her mother's hand on her body. She began to squirm, purring hard in the older feline's hands, her fears allieved at least for the moment. Normally, she didn't appreciate having her hair brushed, but at this point any attention was fine by her and she patiently let her mother bring the brush through her black locks, orange eyes bright and shining. "Meeee? Meeer? Prrrm." Her paws darted out in front of her, waving slightly in her mother's face, pawpads soft and pink.
Her attention was ripped away from her mother in an instant as soon as the brush was dragged through her hair again. Purple-and-yellow tipped paws were waved at the brush, desperate to play now that she had some attention, and she let out a delighted mewl. She had her mother! She was safe, at least for now.
Othello's panicked stumbling went unnoticed by the leggy coyote, who simply flicked his ears back and closed his eyes tighter, curling his extra-long tail tightly around his body and covering his eyes with it. Sleep was finally starting to tug at him when the Bog-mix stumbled over his relaxing form.
The boy was up in an instant, letting out an enraged yelp as only a coyote could manage. He tried to lift his leg to dart out of his brother's way but stumbled on his own binding, ending up with his long snout pressed firmly against the ground. His angered yelps only grew in volume as he set about biting at the metal binding, snarling as he did. He /hated/ it. All it did was get in the way of his napping and make it harder to relax in the sun. Eventually the boy tired of attacking the binding and settled in once more, a little further away, fur bristling slightly as he warily watched Othello.

At least the cute little thing was batting at the paw, which meant that Fluffy was doing a good enough job of entertaining him. She couldn't tell if he was really having fun, though. Xiven's voice got her attention once again and she saw trouble in the making between the other two boys as the one fell onto the other and a little snarling fit ensued. She watched them in surprise, then gave the inverted boy one last good spin and roll with her paw before going over to pick Othello up by the scruff.
This one always smelled good. The minty smoke that came off of his face made her feel happy, even if she didn't understand where it came from. His fur tasted nice because of it. She carried him back to her bed and put him down, then sat and let her tail fluff over him, covering him completely in blue. She started purring to try to calm him down. He seemed oddly excitable sometimes and she didn't understand why. "Nap for this one and that one?" she asked, indicating the little feline girl that Xiven held with a tilt of her head. The Torquehelm canine obviously wanted to stay in the sun from how he'd been hogging the corner for so long, but these two seemed more desperate for attention in a way. She gave a good lick to Othello's cheek and settled next to him.

Xiven rolled her eyes at Virtute's batting at the brush. She tickled the girl under the chin and was half tempted to roll her over and give her a raspberry, however that never really went over well with the kitten. Claws, though pinpricks, could hurt in the right places.
Othello wiggled in protest against Fluffy picking him up. He tried with his good paw to bat her away, but failed miserable. He had already been snarled at by his brother so being picked up by someone wasn't that horrible... he guessed. He hardly expected to be put in a basket and then flopped on by something furry. He flailed for a bit before giving up. Fine. The purring won. And he just needed to keep his eyes closed and pretend that scary things weren't happening.
Xander watched Fluffy take care of Othello. He glanced over at Mer... he looked like he was trying to sleep. Maybe he would like to cuddle? No. Probably not. Mer was grouchy. He pouted in the middle of the floor looking from Mommy to Fluffy.
"Yes, nap time for the two of them." She said as she picked up Virtute to put in the basket with Fluffy. Maybe she could get a bit of a nap too....

Hadrian was incredibly excited. Visiting from his new home in the Club's Court, he was finally getting to meet his nieces and nephews for the first time! And there would be a break from Lady Ashounka's slave-driving. He held a bag in his mouth with gifts for all of them... in case any of them were starting to become Suit-elitists he could at least attempt to endear them to him... He held himself tall and proud. He was a titled noble, now, and there was not a damned thing his former antagonizers could say or do about it. ..it made the already fairly sarcastic punk ass that much more smug. There was practically a bounce in his step as he padded down the halls. He was practically giddy. When he got to the door he knocked, tail wagging.

((OOC: <3 hope no one minds me going out of posting order ))
Xiven's ears perked at the sound of knocking. The idea of a nap was apparently out the window. She drooped a bit as she held Virtute in her arms. Letting out a long sigh she looked down at the kitten. At least Fluffy could deal with her in the basket.
"Come in," Xiven called out. The door was unlocked, and she wasn't going to bother to get up and let the person in when she had her hands full. Hopefully it was family. Somehow she just didn't want to see a servant.
Xiven looked up at the figure when he entered the room. Hadrian? What was he doing here? Didn't he have a new job at the courts? "I didn't expect to see you so soon."
Xander hopped up on all fours when he heard the knock on the door. He waited with wide eyes for the person to come through the door. His tail swished with anticipation as he crouched low, ready to pounce whoever it was. The bright blue and brown canine wasn't what the little kitten expected when he skitter forward. Instead of pouncing the figure like he originally planned, he puffed up.

Fluffy looked up when there was a knock on the door and brightened a bit when Hadrian walked into the room. It was the nice boy who'd given her the blue tail when he was younger! She always liked him, ever since she'd gotten over the bright blue thing on her butt. That had been years and years ago. He was a sweetie and she liked him. "Meer!" she called out to him in a friendly fashion. Speech wouldn't be appropriate, but she certainly wanted to greet him.
Then she bent and started to groom the little kitten that had just been dropped in her basket. The poor thing always seemed so twitchy. Maybe her scent would calm it down? It seemed to be working on the nice-smelling minty boy. He'd already closed his eyes and settled right in. Taking care of the little ones left her feeling quite fuzzy inside, which she worried about because she knew already that she'd miss them when Xiven gave them away.
