((First time RPing her. Anyone who knows more about Linda or relationships that concern her here -- if you see something that is . . . off in the way I play her or her knowledge, please poke me! This is all about her development so . . . <3))As usual, she moved her body gracefully, each step was a light tap of toe on the ground. It was not so much that she was dancing, right at that moment, but the influence in her walk of her nature as well as years of dancing practice. All of that practice translated to each move she made ending up or mimicking that of a small dance move. Recently she had started to spend most of her time by herself, though that was probably not really all that significant change from her usual. Today, however, she had the sudden urge to go out and see what was happening in the halls and rooms of the Court. The excitement that that might have held quickly waned and dried up. The lower rank workers of the Court always seemed to remind her of the ants she had seen in the garden one day. Mindless running about, with no real destination in mind that she could find. Suddenly back to not feeling the urge to actually interact with other living beings, she had taken a turn down one of the hallways. She decided that just what she needed was to visit the darker, less sought out places of the Palace.

Sulking could be a good way to describe her current mood. Or maybe just brooding. It was hard to tell. Her moods were all sort of blending together into something darker and colder than what she usually felt. Joy came in splashes of red, usually when she was ending the life of one of her unnecessary prisoners. Useless little moments. It was always a pity when a prisoner couldn't fulfill her needs anymore, as either prisoner or experiment. Currently, however, Mephit was not indulging in the aspect of her work that made her 'happy' but was instead running and errand like the dog of the Courts she was. Paperwork, making note of which prisoners had not survived, and other useless information that she really didn't find worth her time. The doe moved through the unused passageways, her personal short cut through all the annoying staff that lurked everywhere as well as the new 'Queen'. The doe's lip curled at the thought and she rounded a dark corner to, without warning, nearly collide with a pale, serpentine form. Instantly the doe slid out of the way and recoiled, half caught off guard by the faint resemblance to the Late Serafino (or even Marie) that she noted in the woman. A relative? Mephit searched the face a bit more heavily. Yes, that was a it... One of Fino's children with Pravus.... Linda was it? The Corvie smirked. "How... unexpected... to run into your here, Your Highness Linda." They hadn't ever formally met, but Mephit could not escape knowledge of one of Fino's favored children. "Do you frequent these areas?" If so, Mephit might have to take a conscious effort to take other routes...

The collision was just as unexpected on her part as well. There was a confused moment when Linda tried to decide if she needed to help keep the other person standing or go for the weapon that was currently strapped to her side. While she did not have to keep the sword physically by her, she had discovered that there was a comfort she gained from it being there.
Taking a step back she took in the female before her, unconsciously reached with one hand to pet the sword at her side. It took her a moment before she recognized the Corvie. While she, too, had never officially met her before, she had been told in her childhood to venture pretty safe bet as to who it was.
She gave a nod of her head, her long neck allowing her to make the action without losing any height over the other female. Smiling back, though it was probably a little tight around the edges and did not meet her eyes, she greeted. "I could say the same of you, Your Excellence, Mephit."
Looking at the woman she tried to consider how she should act. She vaguely remembered, if she was even correct, that her father had held the woman in something of a high esteem - an impressive accomplishment - so she did not want to offend her.
Giving a little shrug, a practiced move that showed everything and nothing, she replied, "I would not say that frequent is . . . the right word."

Mephitisia's orange gaze briefly darted after Linda's hand, eyeing where it rested before slowly returning to the serpent's face. She didn't like the height that her species provided, but she would say nothing of that and it didn't show on her carefully composed expression of emotionless disinterest.
The doe's orange eyes were unchanging and her voice was colder than ice. "I was merely running an errand and the back halls are the quickest route." She motioned vaguely to the papers in her hands.
"I see, well that would explain why we have yet to encounter one another." Cordial conversation annoyed Mephit to no end, but she did her best to remain polite. It wouldn't do to insult a King. "I do apologize, I haven't interrupted you on an errand, have I? I didn't expect anyone back here at this time." She couldn't decide which was worse, the cordial conversation or the apologizes to escape them.
Guh.
What she wouldn't give to be back in the dungeons just then...

She gave a small, well practiced laugh. It was something that was not overly merry but held enough 'honesty' that it would not be condescending either. "No, no. I simply found that I was in more need for the solitary parts of the Palace over those more bustling with activity."
While she would forever call the Court of Hearts home she also knew, very well, that the activities of being an active person in power on the forefront was not for her. No, she could control everything she needed from the sidelines without risking her life or being inconvenienced by those who could not do for themselves.
"It is good to know that some have also found the usefulness of the back passageways." While she could not really begrudge the deer, in all honesty, it was more a relief that many more of those in the Palace had not discovered it.
"If I am keeping you from more important work, please do not let me keep you." She offered, taking her hand away from her sword and motioning across her body for her to take the lead. Truthfully she hoped that she would be able to talk to the Corvie for longer. She had always been slightly intrigued by the female and found, oddly enough, that she would actually look forward to the company. At least for a small time.
Maybe it was a small longing for a sense of familiarity, even if it was vague, with the old days gone by.

Mephit smiled, the expression not entirely friendly but not as wicked as it had the potential to be. "I prefer to think they don't, or else it would not be so convenient." The doe rolled her shoulders slowly. These 'secret passages' were one of the few things she could give Peaches true Kudos for showing to her. The sneaky feline did have some useful 'perks'.
As Linda motioned for Mephit to move ahead, the doe kept her face unchanged. Yes, she wanted to leave... However, she couldn't miss the thoughts skimming Linda's mind. She wanted to talk a while? It made the doe wonder just what the solitary serpent could want.
"If you're willing to walk and talk, we can do both while I deliver these papers. Does that suit you?" And she hoped that Linda was the sort that would do most of the talking. "I knew both of your parents, Pravus considerably more so than His Majesty, Serafino due to our line of work. It's a surprise we never met before." Suits, Mephit hated this small talk. "What do you do around the Court?"
There, get her talking and Mephit would hopefully be free to answer yes or no until she said something of honest interest. The doe's orange orbs flicked to the weapon at her side. While she'd never enjoy the prospect of having a weapon inside her head, she had learned to appreciate the other sentient ones running around the palace. Intriguing creatures...

Considering everything it really was quite amazing that they had not met before. For such a small world, it still held its own secrets.
Startind down the hallway she gave a small shrug of her slinder shoulders. It could be difficult to put into words exactly what she did. While she had no real position in the Court, having always preferred to stay on the sidelines, she spent most of her time wandering around at her whim. Observing and monitoring were her hobbies.
"A little of this and a little of that, I suppose you could say."
While she refused to be a burden of any sort to the Court, she did deserve to live here and in her own way earned her keep.
Questions answered she returned with a few light ones of her own, gaining some information about the doe without getting into anything too personal. She allowed for Mephit to lead the way of her destination.
Upon reaching it she gave a small bow of her head. "It was a pleasure to meet you. I hope that we encounter each other again in the future." With that she headed off, continuing on her way.
((Whee, Linda is done. Uh, your turn, I can just mark it done. Up to you <3))

Serpent though she was, Mephitisia found little interest in Linda as they walked. The woman was politely, boringly neutral, and didn't have much to say to keep the emotionally distanced doe intrigued.
Of course, she kept this all firmly to herself and her expression betrayed little.
A little of this, and a little of that... Their entire conversation seemed to go that way. They spoke about almost nothing at all until they reached Mephit's destination and then, thankfully, parted ways. "Have a good evening, Miss Linda. It'd be a pleasure to speak again." Lies, but Mephit was terribly used to this small talk business.
The doe flashed a very thin smile in parting, politeness be damned, and she stepped into the office where her papers were due. It would be nice to have a nice quiet walk on the way back and to know that Linda would, hopefully, be elsewhere by the time she returned. Now, if the girl ever showed up in dungeon perhaps Mephit wouldn't mind her company that much... People were usually so much more intriguing down there.
(Alrighty, I think we can go ahead and call it closed now. ^_^)
