Well, he had all the information that he needed and he was pretty certain he was caught up on everything that had happened in his absence. Ira, he'd seen the equine around well... glimpses of him anyhow, and he'd heard a few interesting pieces of information on the man as well but that's who he needed to talk to. Really, he didn't want to bother his Highness Bernard with the matter ... the King didn't need anything else on his plate. And Ira, well ... it would give him a chance to get in a little closer to this new Queen maybe .... see the oddity for himself. However high the potential of this meeting being strange and unforgettable were, this was official business and he was a little nervous about it. This equine could shoo him off and not even take the time to see him really, or he could send him off on some bizarre impossible task. His four extra, chitin covered limbs curled in toward his body and then the ends twitched out a bit before repeating the nervous motion. Well, this would, at the very least .... be an interesting encounter. With that in mind he lifted up a paw, curled his toes in and knocked on the door.

"Ira," the man who opened the door snarled in a voice dripping with anger. Green eyes were held at the level where he should have seen his eldest brother, but. . . there was no one there. Bloody snot! Where was that man? A sound caught his attention and he looked down. The human, terror of Fives and lower, causer of retreats, killer of his own father, and, some said, destroyer of the Court of Hearts, stared down at the chipmunk with eyes that slowly widened. He spoke one word, with no end of disgust, "Spider."Rumours preceding him, there might be little doubt of his next action. Se lifted a foot, preparing to stomp on the bug. "Why, it's one of the Guard!" announced a voice cheerily, pausing the Queen's move through sheer distraction. "I've seen you around before."

When the door opened it wasn't the person he was expecting, no ... it was the new Queen. No one else had wings like that in their human form, at least he hadn't heard of any. Olive eyes widened at the sight of the man... he was ... just as terrifying as he'd heard. But ... all that training in the marsh, and his present goal, made him simply freeze instead of running away from this... freak. Even as the man's foot lifted in a manner that was ...
Wait, was this man really going to try and squish him like an actual spider?! the thought made those spindly limbs extend themselves outward, the front two actually lifting to stand forward in a mock defensive position, lips curling up a bit and letting the very tips of his elongated fangs see daylight.
And then there was a voice behind him that not only distracted him, but the Queen as well. His notched ear twitched as he turned his gaze back to the new voice ... another human. Had that happened whilst he was gone as well? Suits, so much was different.
He took a couple steps backward, bringing himself out of the immediate range of Se's foot, and nodded a greeting to Ira. Well... maybe if he got things started .... it would be a little easier...
I ... have an appointment.

There was nothing unusual about Ira talking to bugs. Se turned and slunk further into the office and found a chair in the corner to drape himself on. His agitation at his brother was gone as he had forgotten, for now, whatever it was he'd been so angry about. His large, wings shifted uneasily as he wondered where his mind might be.
Ira rubbed a hand across his bald head, skimming across the markings there without noticing he had done so. A disturbing rumour had reached him awhile ago, and it caused him some distress. He waved a hand at the chipmunk-spider thing and headed into Se's office without waiting to see if the Heart would follow.
The King headed for the desk and put a bag down on the desk before addressing his brother. "I brought the rocks you wanted."
The Queen stared at the other man suspiciously. Rocks? Yes. . . that sounded familiar.

He was waved inside, or at least that's how he took it... since his announcement of his appointed had gone otherwise unacknowledged, and followed the King inside. Habit had him closing the door behind himself, using one of his spider limbs to do so, before realizing that it might not of been the best idea he'd had that day. Well ... things couldn't go too wrong... could they? Ira seemed.... normal enough ... for now.
He watched the bald king from his out of the way position with perked ears, waiting patiently for his attention and trying hard not to stare at Se out right. He was trying to get used to his appearance via his peripheral vision, but it was still unnerving. What kind of freaky genes did the former Queen have to create something like that? Or... what could the man have slept with to conceive a child that had so obviously gone wrong at some point? And ...
Rocks? The Queen of Hearts was making requests for ... rocks? What kinds of rocks could possibly be of any use, much less interest, to a Queen of Hearts? He had a lot of questions... but for now he played the good little guard and kept his mouth shut and his eyes and ears aware.
Curious things these men were ...

Ira didn't press the Queen harder, instead leaving the box on the desk without a word and proceeded to utterly ignore his younger brother. He tucked his hands behind his back and paced towards the guard, pale eyes regarding the man curiously. It was no surprise that so few had made an attempt to join the Court now. He found this humourous since, in theory, now would be the perfect time to do so. Supposedly, they would be desperate for anyone who would even be inclined to come under the frightening Queen of Hearts.
Ira, however, suspected that most who joined now weren't all there in the upstairs. He tilted his head at the chipmunk-spider thing and smiled brightly. "So, wot brings you here, Guard?"
Se waited until Ira had walked off before slinking towards the desk then quietly began to touch the rocks that made up the top layer. Black rocks. Like the one drifting in his memories.

His attention shifted from the queen to his brother King, but he didn't place all of his focus on the calmer of the two, no .... not when he was, essentially, trapped in a room with them. one of his little ears swiveled and locked on the present Queen of Hearts as the other, and his eyes, focused on this King. Perhaps he should have gone and bothered Bernard after all? No, he'd planned ot do it this way ... and he was going to stick with the plan ... even if it meant having Se here. Besides he was busy with his.... rocks.... now.
He placed a pleasant little smile on his features as he regarded Ira, his gaze briefly traveling up to the odd marking atop his bald head. Did he.. .have that tattooed there? He'd heard of a man in the city that would do such things.... but it seemed an odd place to get a tattoo. but that was really none of his concern.... was it?
I've come to see if I meet the criteria to gain a title to go along with my recent jump in rank, your Highness.
He kept reminding himself to be as polite and casual as possible ... good impressions were always a good thing, no matter who they were directed too. Especially when you wanted something ....

Ira tilted his head, noticing the way the man's eyes travelled up to the top of his head, and he made certain that the guard could get a good view of his wonderful of his head marking. Done preening now, he tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Why do you want to join this Court?" he asked pleasantly. "There are plenty of others that some say are running a bit stronger right now."
Se began to pull off the top layer of rocks, putting them down on the desktop carefully. It wasn't that he was trying to preserve either the desk or the rocks; he simply didn't want to miss anything important. The nightmares hadn't left him, though his eldest brother was usually there with a reminder that their father was dead and couldn't threaten them anymore. That didn't stop the dead stallion from haunting him, however. He growled under his breath in frustration.
