Finally. Xiven had been a mess since the incident, not that anyone could blame her, but Mephit really hated waiting while people had to 'sort out their emotions'. Emotions were much better when they were buried under six feet of dirt, or even under concrete. The doe had done both as of late. She kept herself underground in the dungeons as much as humanly possible and then avoided everyone whenever she was forced to venture upstairs. There were the occasional exceptions to his, as she had no intention of sending away Marie when the little axe came to play. That alone was a suiting enough distraction, and she didn't pester Mephit with annoyances like feelings. It was a suiting 'relationship'. But finally, Xiven was calling and Mephit would not have to wallow in her frustrated waiting any longer. Arriving at the door she knocked soundly and then stood back to wait. She hoped that the Queen would have something interesting for her to do for this Quest, Mephit was in the mood to be preoccupied.

She had been an emotional wreak since her entire world collapsed that wonderful day. However, she was finally pulling back the pieces. Today she had sent for Mephit, finally willing to give the woman Kingship. And boy did she have a quest for the deer. Her ears snapped forward when she heard the knock on the door. "Come in," she said as she pulled out the file folder from her desk. She knew full well that it wouldn't be anyone else, and if it was her mother she could simply said the woman away. When the deer entered a smile twitched on Xiven's face. She brushed her finger along the edge of the file. "I won't keep you long, I have a very important job for you to do. I want it done as quickly as possible." She set the file on the desk with a smile. "Are you prepared for your King Quest?"

It took Mephitisia a moment to contain her surprise upon entering.
After the little collapse the feline had endured Mephit had expected Xiven to be a little shaky but this was much more to Mephit's style. Xiven was to the point and not going to keep her around with the pointless banter that she detested so much. The doe allowed a sliver of a smile to touch her expression and she smoothly bowed her head.
"Then I assure you it will be done with the utmost haste." Mephit had no scruples, she didn't care what strings she would have to pull to get something done as quickly as possible so long as it didn't jeopardize her life or her political standing. "I am. What do you have for me, your Majesty?" She approached the desk and remained standing, not bothering to sit if she'd be stepping out soon.
After such frustrating stagnation as of late, not all of which to be blamed on waiting, the idea of doing something interesting sparked a very fond note within the doe.

The corner of Xiven's mouth twitched into a smirk. This was going to be fun. She flipped open the file she had placed on her desk picking up a picture of an Esterberry Manned Wolf. "This woman is your target. I want you to bring her back to the palace and extract information from her."
The feline's tail twitched as her smirk grew wider. "She is currently in the Highlands for a brief amount of time, the rest of the information you need to know is in this folder. I just need to make it clear that I want her alive so I can question her. After I'm done you can do whatever you feel inclined to do."
She just needed to know a few things after all. Once she got the information it didn't matter what happened to that damn Esterberry.
"You have two weeks to finish this," Xiven smiled. Closing the folder she offered it to the deer. "Good luck."

Mephit echoed Xiven's smirk, but remained quiet as the feline briefed her on the 'quest' ahead.
Abduction, hm? An interesting task and not at all what she'd expected, pleasing though it was. "I assume this is to be done under the table?" It was far too easy to simply arrest her in the name of the Court to be a King Quest. "I promise you, she'll be alive and well to question." She had plenty of paralytic poisons that would do the job of subduing the wolf without killing her or damaging any of the information Xiven might need.
When the folder was extended to her, Mephit accepted and stepped back. "I will return shortly, Your Majesty." With another shallow bow, Mephit took her leave.
The moment she stepped out of the room, Mephit flipped open the folder and began reading. Her feet were well versed on the halls that would get her to her room quickly and without interruption and she put them to good use as she reviewed the information given to her. Things would move much more quickly if she had a list of everything she would need by the time she got to her room.

"Under the table is putting it lightly," Xiven said before the deer departed. It was a quest of trust, and something that would put an end to a grudge that Xiven had kept for a while.
The manned wolf would be located a rather high scale Highlander hotel that was ten miles away from the court. It was a place filled with all sorts of snobby people, and the Esterberry five was easy to find among them. However, she had a travel companion who seemed to linger at strange times of the day, and they were a higher ranking card. They seemed skilled enough to cause at least a little bit of trouble.
The slightly complicating manner was that the Esterberry wolf was related to an important founder of one of the library funds in Esterberry. Hence the mission of secrecy. That and the Esterberry was a loud mouth.

By the time Mephit reached her room she was grinning.
It was a deep, genuine, and utterly sadistic smile. Under the table indeed, from the looks of everything this almost seemed like a personal vendetta... Not that Mephit cared, she'd be happy to show Xiven just what she could do.
Downstairs in the dungeon, Mephit packed for a brief 'vacation' and filled a small travel-safe briefcase full of the toxins and venoms that she felt would be most helpful. Mostly paralytic agents and a few substances that worked rather well for disrupting memory. It was a common substance among Corvies, used to knock out potential test subjects prior to an experiment and then obliterated the memory of that evening so that unpleasant repercussions did not return to the scientist in question.
Very useful.
Packing and arranging vacation plans didn't take long and, within a few short hours, Mephit was in a carriage on her way to the Hotel. Her next few days were going to be very interesting.

When she arrived she would make contact with her target almost immediately. The female Esterberry was in the lobby of the small establishment, reading one of the magazines. Besides her was another Esterberry, a ten, and a rather interesting looking bird. They seemed to be together.
The hotel attendant gave Mephit a rather cheerful greeting. "How can I help you today, ma'am?" she asked with a rather musical tone. She was a mid-ranked Highlander with a human form, who clearly thought she was better than anyone who walked through the door if they weren't a Highlander. However she was obviously making an effort considering the doe's rank and rather sharp pointy fangs. The snotty Highlander valued her life a bit more than her pride.
If Mephit chose to ask the woman anything, she would be more than happy to provide the Jack with information. Both Esterberries were clearly out of hearing range.

Mephit walked through the lobby with only a half glance toward the Esterberry female that would appear to be her target. That would appear rather simple, now didn't it?
Instead of acknowledging the wolf directly she instead focused on the hotel attendant that had offered her such a 'friendly' greeting. It was so plainly forced but it pleased Mephit deeply to know she was having such a lovely affect. To make sure that she got exactly the right amount of respect she demanded, Mephit offered an icy grin that made her long fangs flash.
"I'm looking for a room and some information." Mephit produced her coin purse and jingled it once for emphasis. Bribery worked wonders and, if that didn't, torture usually filled in the rest of the remaining options. "The Esterberries over there, I'd like to know how long they'll be staying." Once she knew how much time she had to work with she'd go from there.

"Uh..." The woman paused as she looked over Mephit's shoulder at the two Esterberries. "They're actually checking out tomorrow morning if I remember correctly, Ma'am."
The Highlander gave the woman a curious look. Why exactly was she interested in information about the Esterberries? Maybe she could take advantage of this. Perhaps she was some sort of assassin? Though... that didn't make much sense. Both the Esterberries were fairly harmless.
Either way there was a chance that she could make a bit of money off this Jack. The woman slipped a card on the table. "If you need anything extra during your stay I would be happy to provide you with it. Now, do you have an reservation or are you simply a walk in?"
The paper was a rather simple business card sized sheet of paper. It gave the clerk's name and room number in case she needed to contact her for anything. Which included getting extra room keys and such.
