Tomorrow? Eh, good enough. She'd just have to be quick, which worked fine for her. Not like she wanted to wallow around in some hotel for any longer than she had to. She disliked being away from her work.
Oh, what was that? Mephit paused to catch the fleeting thoughts of the inn keeper. From Mephit was able to catch she seemed to be a woman lacking morals. Or, at very least, she didn't seem visibly bothered by her speculations of Mephit's work.
Well enough for her.
"Tomorrow? Thank you very much." The doe collected the card, giving it a once over before sliding it into her bag. "Reservation." Mephit didn't believe in being unprepared. For now she would save her questions. They'd be easier to ask in the privacy of the Clerk's room where they were not at risk of potentially being noticed by the Esterberries in question. Unlikely though it was, it was a risk Mephit didn't enjoy flirting with.

"All right," the woman said as she pulled a book and quill from behind the table. She flipped open the book to a page that had a few signatures on it. "Please just print your name here, and the sign below it." She pointed to the two lines.
Once that was accomplish the woman checked the name and nodded. "Please give me a moment to retrieve your keys."
With that the woman disappeared into room located behind the counter. It would be a few moments before she returned with a small set of jingling keys. A bright smile on her face as she gave the keys to the doe. "I hope you enjoy your stay. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to tell one of our maids or ring for room service."
If she choose to go to her room it was quite the room. It was colored in the typical Highlander red, white and gold theme. It had a large Queen size bed with a plethora of pillows, a writing desk, a small table that had a flower vase on it. Overall though, she was probably paying twice the amount it was worth. Good old Highlands.

Mephit smiled, the expression more unnerving than it could possibly be friendly. She didn't bother to veil her dislike and the woman seemed more greedy than virtuous. Too greedy to care, she assumed.
"Thank you very much." The doe didn't bother to look at the pair again, she'd be seeing them this evening. When the card was pressed toward him, Mephit accepted it. "Walk in." As she spoke she looked over the card with a slitted orange eye, scrutinizing it.
She wanted to meet up with the Esterberry couple before morning, so she'd pursue the Highland woman in an hour or so. Give herself a chance to settle her belongings into the room and grab a bite to eat... Hopefully they would remain in the lobby and she could watch them... or even get the little wolf off to herself before she made a real move.
In the end she figured the girl's bodyguard would have to be silenced somehow anyway to make sure this didn't creep back to bite the court in the rear.

After an hours time the woman's shift was over. She was sitting in her room, finding the proper keys for the woman. She could only assume that someone as unnerving as that wouldn't pass up an opportunity such as this.
Meanwhile the Esterberries had gone back to their room. Neither of them suspected anything, and ultimately the bodyguard had decided to take a nap. The target was left to her own devices, reading a book and minding her own business.
Everything was set into motion. And the doe had every opportunity to do as she saw fit. Picking the lock on her own would probably cause a bit of trouble, though the target wouldn't notice, and going with the Highlander would be the easiest way. Or rather it would be the way that caused the least amount of damage.
The Highlander would remain in her room for the rest of the night.

Mephit enjoyed when these sort of things went smoothly. She watched as the Esterberries departed to their room and then the Highlander at the front desk ended her shift nearly an hour later. No need to return to her room ever arose. Good.
The meeting was short and sweet and left the doe pleased. The keys had already been prepared, so she left her with a tip. Hopefully, if anything went awry, the tip would buy the woman's silence.
This was the part where things started to become more fun, it was time to take the little maned wolf back to Her Queen. A dark sneer spread over her muzzle as she approached the room. The keys worked like a charm, allowing her immediate and silent access to the room complete with a napping Esterberry. Immediately she froze, watching for any sign of movement in the guard.

The bodyguard was sound asleep, he didn't move an inch when the door was opened. He only continued to snore.
Meanwhile the manned wolf as reading and translating a few documents around the corner. She heard the door open, and thought nothing of it. Ron had clearly gotten up to go and do something.
But then she heard the man snore. Her ears flicked backwards as she shifted in her seat. She couldn't see the door from where she was. It was probably just room service.... but hadn't they knocked before?
"Hello? Is someone there?" she called out quietly. Her book was set to the side, along with her pen. Her fur would have been standing on end if it were possible.
The man still didn't wake up. He remained where he was. Apparently the woman wasn't loud enough to make him stir. Pretty pitiful bodyguard when it came down to it.

Sliding the door shut, Mephit waited a second to be sure the guard remained asleep and then moved. He was sleeping pretty soundly which was good for her. Heart. She edged over a bit, getting a good look at his chest. Jack. That made her life so much simpler.
The traveling bag she'd brought with her contained a handy pocket for her poisons. Mephit selected one that would ensure the guard remained entirely asleep. Whether or not he died from it was up to chance, but he wasn't the one she was supposed to bring back in one piece. And then he snored. Mephit's eye twitched as she heard the woman call out, but she said nothing and focused on what she was doing.
One well placed injection and even his snoring would stop as his breathing compressed to nearly nothing. To most he'd appear dead as the oxygen was cut off from his brain, but depending on how well his body handled the toxin he'd most likely end up with a bit of brain damage at worst. Ironic for an Esterberry.
And now it was just her and Christine.
Mephit stepped into the room where she'd heard the wolf's voice coming from and wasted no time in activating her pain ability at its full force.
Strong Magical Ability: When activated, she can inflict mental pain on another card of any suit, once per day. The pain feels like a nail slowly being driven through the other's spine near the skull. Her pain can now knock out another card for one hour, though Queens and some Kings may be able to withstand it.

It was a shame, or perhaps not, that the Esterberry bodyguard would never wake up from the slumber. The toxin would prove entirely too much for his system to handle. What a shame for the poor maid who would find him.
Christine remained where she was, her heart pounding in her chest. Maybe it was just her imagination? That would make sense. She had just been paranoid and heard things.
She yelped as the pain ability was activated. The sudden pain was too much for her, a mere two, as she hit the ground with a hideous thud. Her glasses cracked when they hit the floor, pieces flying everywhere. The girl wasn't getting up any time soon, and when she did she wouldn't be able to see much. Too many candle lit nights studying had done the worst to her eyesight.
Mephit was free to take the girl and leave without a single problem.

The thud didn't come as much of a surprise, but Mephit was mildly pleased nevertheless. She wouldn't have to deal with the girl conscious. In the cover of night it was easy to escort her 'drunken' Esterberry companion out into a carriage for the ride home. She left the girl's keys in her room and left her own at the inn keeper's desk.
Before the hour wore off she would bind and gag the girl and then it was just a matter of waiting.
When the girl did wake, Mephit would ignore her. Any floundering or complaining was ultimately useless on her part, Mephit was too callous to it from work in the dungeon. Nevertheless she was pleased to hear the driver announce their arrival at the Court. Activating her powerful ability, she took control of the Two before unbinding her and exiting the carriage.
30 minutes was more than enough time to bring her downstairs and acquaint her with her cell.
Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, she can control the mind of a lesser Heart (5's or below) for up to 30 minutes, once per week. The level of control is nearly complete but when they speak they will only be able to converse in her voice.

Everything went with out a hitch. No one suspected anything was wrong. Eventually the woman did wake up to find herself struggling to get free. She gave up after a while, whimpering every so often. She gave a miserable look to the woman who was ignoring her. What was going to happen? Was she going to be killed? Worry flooded the canine's mind as she waited for the outcome of this kidnapping.
The ride seemed long, but when they arrived at the palace there was very little the canine could do to resist what was happening. And she was quickly acquainted with her cell.
Xiven was still patiently awaiting Mephit's return. She didn't expect the woman to come back so soon, but was alerted to her presence by one of the servants. That was impossibly fast. A smile crept onto her face. Paperwork ran a little more smoothly at the thoughts that floated into her head.
