Well, this was progressing a lot faster than he expected it to (he'd assumed that some period longer than ten seconds would elapse from agreement on going into business and buying a building, but maybe he just wasn't goal-oriented), but that was probably for the best. He wouldn't have time to second-guess anything that way. Aiolos had probably thought about that. Canny fellow.
So out the door they went, in search of prime real estate. There wasn't much, at the moment. Someone tried to sell them a venue built on a massive crack in the ground that been hastily covered with tarp; most were too expensive, or so far outside the normal flow of Card traffic that they would be lucky to see one customer a week.
Finally, though, they hit upon something suitable. It was...something of a fixer-upper, but they had the time, and the location was unbeatable. This was the place.

The location was ideal, even if the building wasn't, and Aiolos rather enjoyed frightening the little weasel of a landlord into agreeing to a reasonable rent--in consideration of all the remodeling they would have to do, and was that up to code? No, he hadn't thought so.
It was only a matter of filling out the paperwork--he filled them out, carefully, and made Vishne sign--and paying the down payment. Aiolos wasn't sure how much of the money he'd gotten from Minh was counterfeit, but he certainly couldn't tell the difference--Minh took a certain pride in never actually paying for anything--and their new landlord certainly couldn't, either.
Eventually, they'd have to buy out the building, but that was worries for another day. And that purchase, at least, Aiolos wanted to be genuine. They'd buy it with their profits.

The remodel had taken a couple of months, but they were diligent, and kept the work mostly between themselves and a couple of volunteers (and a couple of unwelcome volunteers; Thalia had, for unfathomable Thalia-reasons, happily offered her help, and then proceeded to knock over several cans of paint, a lamp, two ladders and at one point Vishne himself, at which point he had to politely shoo her far, far away before the whole building came down around them).
When they were done, it looked respectable. Like a good establishment where hungry people would come for their morning cup of coffee and scone. Vishne was proud of his and Aiolos's work.
And it turned out that safety codes were not the huge issue he thought they might be, since the laws of the land apparently had little to say about site management. There was even less about labor laws. Funny how Capital City worked. But Vishne made certain that everything was perfectly safe--they weren't going to lose customers over exploding toilets or somesuch nonsense.

Aiolos had been glad when Vishne eventually banished Thalia; he'd been close to taking more--permanent--measures to save the establishment from her particular brand of "helpfulness," and he didn't think her mother would have been at all too pleased with him. With Thalia out of the equation, however, they were able to make significant progress and it wasn't long at all before the remodels were complete, and once the equipment was installed and the help hired--two, to take orders and deal with the customers in general--they were ready to open.
Their first customers were lured in with a small blurb in the paper, the application of fliers--lots and lots of fliers--and the tantalizing aroma of fresh-baked sweets and coffee.
He had left the menu largely in Vishne's control--that was his realm of expertise, after all, and he seemed to have done well considering their sales--while Aiolos took care of the coffee, though after the second day he began to teach the cleverer of their help the art for when they were especially busy. And they seemed to be busy quite often; a good sign.
Aiolos felt rather smug about the entire affair.
