The sun was shining, the flowers were blooming, and the Midor was in complete and total disarray from a hurricane a few weeks back. Houses had been obliterated, the small city hall caved in. It seemed that the quick, flimsy work of Midori men did not stand up to one of the greatest storms in years. Despite all this, so few people were working. Where Zuberi's hut once stood, there was nothing more than a flat area to work and a few foundation poles in which to build on; that was as far as the Midori had gotten before Zuberi outright fired them for their slow work. She would have to contract someone from outside the realm who had a bit more work ethic. Till then, Zuberi had no problem sleeping under the stars, or nearly anyways. A quick lean-to had been built for her to live under, strong enough a structure to set up her hammock to sleep on, something that she hadn't been able to enjoy for years until a recent transformation. The bone spurs were absent in her new human form, allowing the back-sleeper a great comfort she had almost forgotten. It had made sleep easier for her, since the whispers she heard in her sleep never left her alone. She told no one of these whispers, of course. They had never been enough of a nuisance to worry. Nearby, a pot sizzled over a hot fire, bringing a rich broth into a boil. Vegetables had already been added, but she was refraining from adding the seafood into the concoction till near the end so as not to let the shrimp and lobster get tough and rubbery. Hopefully it would be done in time for her mystery arrival to get here. Not long ago, Zuberi had received an anonymous letter. This did not alarm her; with comfort in her new rank, and safety of being on home turf, she suspected little more than someone who wanted to keep their affairs private. She understood this. Not long ago she'd had to deal with a most delightful trade where the man could not reveal who he was. She glanced over to the very small ace chicken that slept on his roost. She'd had to buy it, of course, but the man was more than happy to give a discount to a person who seemed actually capable of caring for the ace without abuse or neglect. He was turning out to be a very dear pet, even though it was one she had yet to name. Letting out a lazy yawn, the Midori put her webbed hands behind her head, letting her lids droop. As she treatened to doze, those whispers began to rise. Funny, they had almost become soothing, over the years.

The journey to Midori, while long, passed by as easily as a dream. Seth had taken a Carriage as far as Kahmden and then opted to walk, finding that the heat didn't bother him nearly as much as it had in earlier years. Besides, he couldn't help but feel pleasure in his destination: He hadn't seen Zuberi for years, he'd realized one day, and he missed her rather terribly. Sending a letter and arranging for a meeting had made the most sense, though he'd decided on sending it anonymously in the hopes of keeping it a secret. He wanted to suprise her, see her smile at the sight of him, maybe even laugh. It had been far too long... Beyond that, the man was looking forward to a vacation. Taking care of children day in and day out grew tiring, and it seemed that just as one set got old enough to deal with their own problems another group would, inevitably, arrive. Sometimes he wondered if he should just stop having sex. As he made his way through the ruins of the town he couldn't help but feel a bubble of anxiety. News of the hurricane had reached him, of course, but he hadn't realized just how bad it had been. The residents didn't seem terribly phased by it, however, and Seth could catch the slightest whiff of Midori Green on the air. That would explain a lot. He himself carried a bag of it, intending it as a gift for the squirrel. When he'd reached the area he'd been told that Zub's hut had once stood, he paused. More destruction, a small structure, a chicken, and... Seth blinked. One of the most gorgeous women he'd ever laid eyes on. It must have been Zuberi, though, there was no mistaking her. " Zub?[/b]

It seemed her visitor had arrived. The ace had begun to make soft, distressed sounds, but unless he heard him go into a blind panic, she didn't necessarily pay him much mind. When a familiar voice sounded though, she opened her eyes.
"Hm... Seth?" She blinked several times, sitting upright in the hammock. Zuberi couldn't help but give her arms, and winglike appendages a quick stretch. "Was it you that sent me the letter?" She smiled outright at that. Was he intending to surprise her? Oblivious of his dumbstruck expression, she jumped lightly to her feet and flung her arms around him. "By the Suits and Seas! It is so good to see you!"
Ecstatic. Yes, she was ecstatic to see him. It had been so long, and as the children grew older, they had stopped visiting her. She'd wanted so much to reach out.. but so many things had been happening, so many things within her own life she'd had to sort out...
But things were looking up, and soon she would plan a trip that would hopefully solve all of her problems. So close she was, to attaining everything she wished! The sight of a friend was just what she needed to set things on a good note.

When Zuberi acknowledged his presence, Seth's confused expression split into a wide grin that crinkled the corners of his eyes, so full it was. That was all he needed to know that he had finally found her, though he'd never before laid eyes on her human form. And the marking on her breast - he couldn't help but stare at those, damnit - made him feel oddly proud. How far she'd come... He tried to push down the feelings of lust that were bubbling up inside of him - no, no, this was Zub, and she was beautiful, but it was Zub... She was more like a sister than anything. Right?
His body disagreed violently, especially as she ran forward and threw her arms around him. It took every bit of self control to keep from reacting... physcially. What had she done? In reply he let out a delighted laugh and hugged her right back, his hands lingering over her delightfully round rump before he forced them to settle on her back in a friendly hug. "Who else? You look amazing, Zub,[/b]" he said as he took a step back, glowing at her.
He could do this. He was just extremely happy to see her after so long. And she really did look good, even though the wings sprouting from her back were... strange, to say the least.
"I heard a rumor that you didn't like to see people if they didn't bring you something in return, so.[/b]" he pulled out the sack of Weed, passing it to her. "I'm sure you've got access to the best of the best, but this is a purple they grow in Morganberry. You might like it. Suits, Zub... It's been too long. How's life been treating you?[/b]"

Leaning back from him, her hands lingered on his shoulders as she measured him up. "Oh.. is that what ye be hearin'? A coy grin tugged at the corners of her human mouth, a delicate curve that her squirrel face could never have achieved. "Well, I certainly won't refute it.."
She accepted the offer, looking at it with deep appraisal. "Oh.. is dis what they be doing now? Well, I'll certainly be the best judge of what they reap." Morganberries had a terrible habit of outdoing any region in what they do. Because of this, Zuberi rarely expected much more than greed and megalomania to come out of that region. Still, she wouldn't talk of those things; that would be quite rude, as Seth had brought this as a gift with the best intentions. Smiling warmly, she stood up on the tips of her toes to give him a kiss on his stubbled cheek. "So sweet of you, Seth, to broaden my horizons. Surely I'll enjoy it. I have a feeling you'd like to take a smoke with me as well?"
She turned, casting a sly grin over her shoulder almost conspiratorial. "Speaking of Morganberries, have you seen my little friend? I bought him off of a Morganberry a week or so ago. Isn't he the cutest, tiniest little ace ya ever seen?"

"I don't doubt it,[/b]" the man said with a satisfied nod. Zuberi had always known what was best, and this was his best attempt to turn around and impress her. Which, for some reason, was more important to him than it had ever been before. It had been a week since he'd last seen Heilyn; he'd have to simply try his best to blame his over-eager hormones on that. Then Zuberi leaned in and kissed his cheek, and Seth had to take a few deep and calming breaths.
Had she always been this utterly wicked? If she had, he couldn't remember it. "I'd love to. I haven't changed that much.[/b]" he laughed.
All the same, when she walked towards the chicken he followed, eyes slowly moving down her body and settling on her rear as she walked. He really didn't remember her shaking it so much when she walked... What had happened to her? Had she become a fashion model or something in the years they'd had apart? Her words interrupted his fantasies of Zuberi modeling swimsuits, and he raised an eyebrow. Well. That was a rather pretty little thing, wasn't it? Morganberry, from what she'd said, mixed with... Torquehelm? He'd never placed her as an Ace owner, but seeing the way she cradled the little creature... Well. It seemed almost natural.
"He really is tiny. You know, Zub, I'd always have figured you'd go for a bigger cock.[/b]" with that, a wide, lazy smile began to spread across the man's face, a teasing quirk to his eyebrows.

She'd almost missed the comment, so busy had she become with ruffling the little chicken's neck feathers, but suddenly her brows raised and she shot Seth a look that was at first shocked, but quickly melted into something between exasperation and amusement.
"Well, I'll have you knooow.." Zuberi drawled out, setting a hand on her hip. "That the size of a ship don't make it seaworthy." Oh yes, that pervert, she knew what he was getting at. Seth was one of those people who could say 'could you please pass the butter?' and it could very well be twisted into some sort of sexual innuendo.
"And don't say that around him! I don't want him thinking its his name." Zuberi really couldn't sound as if she was trying to be harsh; she was rarely a harsh person, but her tone spoke of all the finger waggling of a sussing librarian. Setting the ace back on his perch, she turned back toward Seth, arms crossing casually in front of her as she looked him over. He'd aged.. not too terribly much, but he certainly wasn't the spry youth he was when they'd first met. Neither one of them were.. though one could argue that Zuberi had.... aged gracefully with the help of some potions. "So. How is the family? Have you managed to spawn any more little ones since we've last spoke? Mikael went off to college, didn't he? And your older ones, how are they doing?"

Oh, this was certainly interesting! Not only had Zuberi grown some incredible t and a since he'd last seen her, she'd developed the teasing attitude to boot! He had to wonder if the woman was finally getting laid - if she wasn't, it'd be a tragedy, to be certain. Letting something so sweet go to waste... He rather forcibly cleared his mind of those thoughts. It just wasn't entirely appropriate. After all, Zuberi was just a friend.
So he laughed cheerfully, throwing an arm good-naturedly around her shoulders and leaning his head against hers for a moment. "Well, no, but it certainly helps.[/b]" a grin twisted at his lips, cruel and teasing. "Wait, am I hearing you right? You don't want the little cock to think his name is cock? But that's what he is, right?[/b]" Of course, after that little outburst he'd be done with that topic, but that wouldn't really become apparant until he'd fully settled in the offered chair.
With the cool beach air on his face and the promise of a good smoke coming up, Seth couldn't be happier. He sighed happily, and then... She mentioned kids. He closed his eyes tightly and made an oddly strained face.
"Wellll... yeah, you heard right. Mikael's off to college. Doing well for himself working in the courts as well, I might add. I'm proud of him. Sorcha's... well, weird as hell. We had to give Tegan the boot because she was looking like she was ready to mooch offa Lyn and I for the rest of eternity.[/b]" Of course, those weren't the children that made him screw his face up. Those children were fairly good. "And, uh.. yeah. There are others. Six... well, seven of them. Four are... well, mine and Bernard's. The other three are mine and Peaches. Don't have a threesome with Lyn and I, more like than not I'll accidentally knock you up.[/b]" he laughed at that, leaning back in his seat and folding his hands behind his head.
As for the older children? "Hadrian's got a son. Sweet little bundle of fluff, a born-free Torque.[/b]" the entirety of the man was beaming with pride, and nothing at all was said about Rhiannon.
That was intentional.

"Goodness!" Zuberi said with both surprise and exasperation. There was envy in her dark pit of an eye. "I'll certainly keep that in mind! Not that I don't want children, Seth, but there's something about your spawn that goes about asking for trouble. Well, aside from that Mikael boy.. and Hadrian. Well, normal enough I suppose. And his little one.. born free? How lovely. Torques have always unsettled me just a touch; glad to see this one won't be tied down with chains. But my little ace.. quite charming for all that he's partly one."
But yes... Seth had a penchant for spawning the weird ones. Then again, perhaps it was the fault of Heilyn when it was all said and done. She was quite the weird one, with the bog having gone to her head a touch. Zuberi had always had to be careful not to get the woman paranoid when the children came to visit her; anything that ended up broke, or incidences of near drowning were generally kept in Midori.
She paused. The human smile on her face was quickly wiped away. Yes, it was just odd. He'd mentioned them all. Except.. "Rhi. What about Rhi?" Her voice tightened a bit. Consider it motherly instincts then, that she sensed something was wrong. One doesn't go mentioning all of his children only to leave one out, one that he knew Zuberi would want to hear of.

It was true. The man shook his head slowly, then leaned back, letting his breath out in a slow sigh. "I know it, Zub. They're good kids, really,[/b]" but he did know what she meant. Some of his offspring were strange, but he'd gotten used to the oddities, hardly even noticed them anymore if truth be told. He'd never dreamed that this would be the life he fell into, surrounded by a seemingly endless number of children. But now that it was his life... He loved it. Every child was exactly what he or she should have been. "It is. Of course, it means that he's a little bundle of terror, no chains to hold him still. And yes, your cock seems quite well behaved. Is he part Morganberry?"
It seemed like the only possible option with the vibrantly colored plumage of the chicken, but Seth figured he'd ask regardless. It was a method of delaying the inevitable for as long as possible. He knew that his avoidance of Rhiannon wouldn't go unnoticed, how could it? He knew well that the girl had always been precious to the woman.
He sighed, then lifted pain-filled red eyes to the gorgeous woman.
"She's gone, Zub,[/b]" he said after a long moment's thought. Then, he was quick to elaborate. "Not dead, but.. She's not Rhiannon, either. Do I have your silence on this one? I don't give a shit about Pale, but this is about Rhi's safety, too.[/b]" He knew that if anyone had a right to know, Zuberi was on the very top of the list. He'd deal with the manwhore's anger later, should it come down to it.
