Taking it back, Zuberi took another hit, nodding sagely at Seth's look of distaste on the topic of Morganberries. She was glad that he agreed. Anyone who thought the Morganberries had any right to travel down the route they were going were worse a hippie than she was.
But then he asked a question, oh yes a question. Her eyes widened, as if stunned by this revelation. "Mi Gad! I don't know, mon. It be the Morganberry because they own it.. but it be on Midori land.. Midori soil... dat be givin' it a flavah that be like no oddeh, mi'friend."
Another hit, and then she passed it along. "If it be not on de Morganberry soil, and technically not Midori either... be it like... Midori Morganberry lovechild Weed? Ah, mi!" She shook her head. "We'd call it bastard weed. No Midori shameless enough to claim it, nobody believin' Morganberries could create something dat good!"
Leaning back in her chair, Zuberi looked up at the clear night sky. The moon was out, and the stars were bright and numerous; there was little to no light pollution out in this part of Midori. One would never be able to see this many stars in a place like the Courts, or the Capital. "Dere be no place like Midori, mon. No place at all..."

The big man slowly shook his head, trying his best to follow her tangent. Morganberry Midori lovechild... His mind latched onto that thought and his forehead wrinkled as he tried his best to imagine it. Green, pink, and all those sunset colors. At the picture that swam into his head, he sucked in a breath and laughed, gladly accepting the joint. Hmm. They'd almost smoked it down, he thought as he took another long hit, leaning back to look up into the stars. "Talk about vomit-colors," he muttered under his breath, letting the smoke out slowly.
Then he sat forward, letting the rest out in a thick plume. "I mean, imagine it! Green vith all those reds and oranges? It's like... like a badly-decorated house or somethink.[/b]" he grimaced, shaking his head again and extending his arm, motioning for her to take the Weed back. He was feeling fine. He wasn't even aware of the husky tone his voice had taken on, slipping back into the harsh tones of Solandria. "Back in the motherland, ve had nothink like that. All browns and blues there. This place... It's bright.[/b]"
Then he went quiet, staring up at the same stars and moon that Zuberi watched. He sighed, a happy sound. "But I love it here. It has my skvirrel in it. No replacing that. Not vith anythink.[/b]" He leaned over to her, bumping his shoulder against hers.

Zuberi snorted a laugh. Honestly, she thought it would make a horrible looking beast. A general rule of thumb was that pink and red did -not- go well together. it would be atrocious. And if it didn't have pink... well, a Midori who didn't have pink on them.. that didn't sound attractive at all, even if it was only partly so. wait... what were they talking about again? How did they get onto this subject?
She took the last two hits, the final draw burning her sensitive human fingers. Absently, she flicked the unsmokable nub into the makeshift ashtray and rubbed the fingertips against her clothes. Hm. The webbing.. the wings. They were strange for a human form. she's probably be self conscious of them had she not acquired such a strange sex appeal. There was something fun about freaking people out, yet making them stare after her in awe all at the same time. It was good to feel wanted.
"Ah yeh, like a feesh out of water, eh? But if it counts for anything, I think blue be a lovely color." As his shoulder bumped her, she merely slumped to the side and leaned against him, closing her eyes for a moment as she let the weed take her mind somewhere else, if only for a few moments. "Life is so crazy, mon. So crazy. We've been through a lot.. So funny, how dese things go. Had you not been shopping for your lady friend that day.. haha.." She sighed, reflecting on the day they had met.. not really thinking about what she was saying. "But den again.. it all turned out how it did for a reason, aye?"

When Zuberi started to laugh, Seth couldn't help but chuckle as well. The kind of intoxicated he was was a pleasant one, light and bubbly, rather affectionate. He just didn't care. He watched Zuberi through lazy eyes, his gaze following her own. The webbing really was strange, he found, but curious and unique. It reminded him of Heilyn's animal form, in a strange way, except it was pink instead of yellow. Really, all of Zuberi's human form was strange, and he wondered... If he'd seen a picture, what would he have thought about her?
The thought was easily cast aside in the Weed-haze, and he made a happy little noise. When her head leaned against his shoulder, he leaned his head over as well, resting it against hers. A bemused little smile crossed his face as he pulled a strand of blue hair forward, twirling it between her fingers. "It is a nice color, yes,[/b]" he said, letting it go and watching it spring back up to join the rest of his mowhawk. Then he sighed.
"It is, isn't it? Veird, that is.[/b]" Seth commented, thinking about the same possibilities. Could he have potentially ended up with Zuberi? It seemed like an odd thought, but it wasn't entirely out of line. She was beautiful, after all, but... As it was now, he couldn't quite picture it. She was his squirrel, his Zuberi. "All for a reason... Heilyn, she still has that dragonfly. She loves it.[/b]" a small smile made its way onto his face and he sighed, turning to kiss her forehead. "I don't know vat I vould do vithout you.[/b]"

And even with a certain pain in her heart, she found herself able to smile. With a sigh, she laid her head down on his chest, content to just be close to him. They'd never had a chance. From the get-go, they were never meant to become anything more than friends. And strangely... Zuberi felt good about this. Love.. Friendship. Was there really a difference? Zuberi had went all her life without knowing the physical sort of love, and with what she'd heard of how complicated it made things, perhaps in her own way she had the purest form of love for Seth... a Selfless one. Selfless enough anyways, to let Heilyn have him.
Strangely, Zuberi found herself to be content. "Probably be without a friend who can give ya prime spots by da beach, mon." She answered him, giving him a playful poke in his side to let him know she was joking. "But.. but really, Seth. I'm happy that ye'v let me be part of ya family's life."
Such an intense moment, filled with such emotion.. such a deep look into one another's soul... Zuberi looked up at him, fingers running slightly over his chest. Eyes were wide and lips parted. And she uttered...
"Seth...."
"I'm -really- fucking hungry, mon."

What was going on? What were they doing? The nameless ace chicken stayed under toe as the two of them enjoyed a smoke. He knew what that was. It usually meant food afterward. He liked food. This thought, he enjoyed. But he didn't like this man being so close to Zuberi. Who was he? He'd never seen him before! Feathers fluffed up, he watched from afar once Zuberi gave him a well-timed boot in the tailfeathers to keep him from pecking at the man's hairy legs. He was touching his mommy! Or something of a mommy. Close enough. She was his.
Sulking, he found his way in a corner and stayed there... until he heard the word 'hungry.' Hungry? He knew that word. It was like food. Those two words went together very nice. Yes they did. Zuberi made the best food, much better than corn meal and worms.

The comfort of the moment was amazing. Even in a land as unfamiliar, as utterly weird as Midori could be at times, Seth felt at home, at peace, and happy. That may have had something to do with the weed that was making its way into his bloodstream, but he liked to think it was less of that and more of his present company. He pulled the woman a little closer, a wide and happy grin spreading across his face. Then he laughed, a loud, hearty sound. "Aha! That is indeed true. And a good spot it is, yes," he waved a hand, motioning vaguely at the view before them.
His smile almost went sad. He knew that what had happened to Rhiannon was weighing heavily on the woman's mind - after all, how couldn't it? They were all affected by it. "Vell, you are family, aren't you? It vould be silly to try and keep you avay...[/b]"
He looked down, blinking at the woman as she moved closer, shifting his arm so it looped lightly over her shoulders. What was the woman thinking, what was she doing? Seth wasn't sure, but she looked... Hnnn. That was quite an expression, wasn't it?
When she finally spoke, the confused look vanished, and he began to laugh again. "Is that so? Vell, I am of the thinking that maybe ve can get some of those biscuits Rhiannon alvays told me about.[/b]" He nodded. Yes, biscuits would be divine. "And also some fruit, I think, that vould go vell vith the smoke.[/b]"

The smile that Zuberi gave... it was a sad sort of smile, like the ones people give one another when speaking of a loved one who had died... a sort of resignation that what had happened could not be changed. Yes. Rhiannon was dead... dead in respects to Zuberi anyways, if for no other reason than she would never see her again.
"Yes... biscuits. Tha' would be lovely indeed." She agreed, slipping up out of his lap to the sole cabinet she had under the lean-to, where she'd been keeping such things. Biscuits... fruit jam. Damn.. these were going to taste delicious... and a few mangoes to start them off. A bucket of water was brought along as well; she had to draw her water from the well in the middle of town because of her current lack of sink. Bringing it all back, she set it roughly down on the makeshift table, a crooked grin on her face as she slathered jam on a biscuit.
"You should tell your children to come visit me more. I haven't seen Hadrian since he was yea high."

The man leaned over as Zuberi hunted down some food, watching her with an appreciative eye. He'd never dreamed that the sweet little squirrel would make such a damn fine woman! Which wasn't to say that he hadn't found her attractive before, but this... He was having a hard time keeping his hands off her. It was only the potential for awkwardness that kept him content with the small snuggling that the High off Weed brought. When Zuberi left the hut to gather some other things, the man leaned back a little further, basking in the happiness he felt.
His little home away from home. It was marvelous to see Zuberi again, more than he could say.
Of course, the man's laziness seemed to evaporate when he set his eyes on the delicious array the squirrel returned with, licking his lips when he looked at those mangoes. They were huge, bigger than any he'd ever seen, and he could smell their thick and perfumed scent in the air. He reached out for one and peeled a strip of skin back, digging his teeth in with an appreciative sigh.
Perfect.
"I vill be sure to do that. I'm sure they all miss you.[/b]" They were just distracted with their lives, he was sure, sad as it was. He reached out, placing his hand atop Zuberi's, smiling. "And you, don't be a stranger, yeah? My home is your home, if you like, so the Court of Hearts vill alvays have a bed for you, should you come visit.[/b]"

Ahh... food. Sometimes it was the only thing that could get a stoner to move.. especially after what they'd smoked. She had to hand it to those dirty, bastard Morganberries; expect them to take something already great and take it upon themselves to make it better.
She watched Seth with an amused eye, taking a good sized bite out of her own fruit. Oh hells yeah... it was delicious. If there was anything good about a hurricane, it brought in the nutrients from the sea that just made the plantlife -thrive-. That is.. after the initial destruction period. It was nature's way of cleansing the shores.. and probably instilling enough self preservation in the lazy, high Midori so they'd at least hold -on- to something so they wouldn't just float out to sea.
"Ah-ye. Thank you, Seth. I'll be sure to take ya up on that offer in the future. I do miss seeing you and your family."
