The ace didn't know many things.. but there were some things he knew. And he knew sadness; he knew it better than even the smartest of cards, he thought. And.. Zuberi felt it. It wasn't just a passing emotion.. a heavy burden that made her ill in the mornings. It made her cry herself to sleep at night.
He wondered to himself if it was a similar burden that made him wear his chain.. That made him seal his lips and never say a word. It was aheavy weight on his heart so commonplace in his region that it was recognizable even by the dumbest of cards. Was his second mother... carrying such a weight on -her- heart? Would it be lifted or would she carry it forever?
Did that mean.. all such weights could be lifted? Could he ever....
Such thoughts were immediately interrupted as his complete thought processes shifted from vague contemplation to utter joy as a biscuit fell to the floor. Food! Nomnomnomnom...
