Life had taken a sudden dive for the different lately, that was for sure. The sudden Rank up had come as a suprise to the Cardinal, a welcome surprise perhaps, but a shock none the less. He and Fenzik had succeeded in what they'd set out to do, and he now had a shiny new Ten on his chest, so he should be ecstatic. But somehow...it only served to make him more restless, more mindful of the fact that he needed to take the initiative and make some changes in his life. He was currently sitting in what he considered to be one of the most beautiful places in Villa en Miir, and therefore in the world. A cliff with a lovely view, covered with rare flowers, with just the smallest of nooks for him to perch in comfortably, and the soft strains of distant music floating on the air from some undefinable direction. His beak was currently shifted in a frown, crest a bit back in thought. One wing rubbed absently over the marking on his chest. He started as he thought he heard a noise from behind him, a little further up the cliff face, before he smiled slightly as he beheld the now-familiar lithe form of his new familiar, recognizing his soft purple and blue fur that so well complemented Colin's own feathers. " Hey, Arpeggio," he said softly, and the Tove crooned and moved to twist around his neck, nuzzling. "What do you think, hm?" The little creature blinked at him with bright blue eyes, and then groomed its head with one small claw. " What kind of answer is that?" Colin laughed, though his eyes were dark and his mind was far away as he turned back to the wind.

The hawk flew lazily over the treetops, the songs that the others of his realm always seemed to make, drifting to his ears in a caressing way. He wanted nothing more than to join them, but he refrained from it after a while, it had been too long and he was afraid that he had forgot most of the customs there. Not that he had a big knowledge on them in the first place. The seven of hearts looked for a spot where he could sit alone and think about things peacefully. The peace wouldn't be able to come however, it seemed. He noticed another presence as he landed, ruffling his feathers he straightened and peered around, before his eyes landed on the one before him again. His eyes caught the mark on his chest instantly, a low suit but still a bit higher than him, before it traveled to the rest of the other's chest. His head fell to the side for a moment as he took in the head this time, interesting. The tove was the next thing he noticed and his brow raised, it spurred on another thought however, where was his? He looked around briefly, searching for said tove as he adjusted the scarf made out of selkie fur. He had found it somewhere and since then he was unwilling to part with it. The smell of rain calmed his nerves more than anything else could. He shook himself out of it again and took a step forwards, extending out his wing in a polite gesture "Hello." He greeted "Mind if I join you?" He continued lightly, eyes narrowing faintly, taking in the other once more in an almost paranoid way, although it couldn't be called that for an outsider.

Arpeggio chittered, noticing another Card coming while Colin while still staring out into space. He merely clicked his beak at the little Tove affectionately, not realizing that his squirming was trying to alert his master of something. It wasn't until another voice spoke, quite clearly, from far closer than he could have expected that Colin jumped a bit, turning quickly, feathers fluffing up. When he saw it was another Villa Avian, he forced a polite smile, eyes quickly falling to see the marking of this new visitor to his spot. A Heart. Hmmm.
"Oh, why certainly, be my guest," he said lightly, though in truth he had been enjoying the solitude. "I was just contemplating the beauty of our fair home." At least the other was a fellow resident, which made the Cardinal less averse to his company than he otherwise might be. Though as he caught sight of something white and blue around the other Card's neck, and when he realized what it was, he felt a flash of horror, but he was well trained enough to not let it show on his face.
He bowed a bit, catching sight of the Rank and Suit on the scarf, how barbaric! He had never understood why anyone would make something out of the fur of another Card, even an Ace! "A pleasure to meet you," he intoned, though really he had misgivings. "My name is Colin, and this is my companion Arpeggio." The Tove, meanwhile, had darted off his master's shoulders and was hovering in the air a bit protectively, making odd noises at the new arrival. He could sense his master's agitation even though Colin was outwardly calm.

He nodded his head, not minding that the other's eyes fell on his mark. He tensed slightly however as the other's eyes fell on the scarf and he sighed softly "I can see that this offends you." He said, ignoring the other's questions for now "I apology." He didn't like it either that it was made out of another card's hide, but it still tugged on him and whispered to him in his mind like a wicked temptation. He looked at his surroundings as well and had to admit that it was indeed a sight to behold.
He nodded his head "My first reason to be here, actually." He admitted, throwing the other a look again and gave a faint smile, a bit nervous "So I won't bother you that much." He tugged lightly on the scarf, as if wanting to tug it off. The tove looked dangerous and he was almost scared to discover what it could do to him if he didn't look out. He nodded his head lightly as the other spoke that it was a pleasure.
"Likewise." He again spoke, bowing his head briefly "Angavar." He then introduced himself after a lenghty pause. He shifted his weight for a moment as if thinking about something and then gave another weak smile "And the tove that runs around here somewhere is Lith." He looked around "Where did it go anyway?" He questioned himself softly, a frown tugging his features down for a moment.

Colin was...a bit surprised that the Hawk had picked up on his reaction to the scarf. "Oh, well..." He hesitated, scratching at the cliffside a bit. Either this other was really good at reading people, or else he was slipping a bit today. That honestly wouldn't have surprised him. He didn't quite feel like himself at the moment, so maybe he wasn't as great at schooling his reactions as normal? "I'm just not entirely comfortable with the thought of a sapiant being being made into clothing," he finally said, giving the other an odd look. His mind couldn't help but go back to the poor Aces they'd saved from that horrible Corvie lab. Some of them had been intelligent, had their own lives before they'd been taken. What if the former owner of that fur had also had a life, a family, goals? Really, Colin felt very sorry for Aces. They were so much better off as pets, with kind owners who'd treat them well. But the hawk seemed almost like he wanted to take the scarf off...but couldn't? Was the item cursed, or did it just have some strange alluring magic on it? He'd heard of such things, and hoped thye all kept far away from him. He hopped unconsciously a step back.
He nodded in response to the greeting. Yes, he wasn't going to kick this other Card out...after all, he technically didn't own this place. It was, to his knowledge, public property. But other than the scarf, he wasn't bothered by the other's presence. But then he mentioned...
"Wait, you have a Slithey Tove as well?" He raised an eyebrow in surprise. He knew that sometimes Toves (or, more rarely, Momes) could be purchased as pets even by non-Spades, but couldn't be summoned. Still, he'd thought that a rare occurrence. "Did you get it in the Capital?" he asked, interest piqued.
Arpeggio did not seem intent on attacking Angavar, only wanting to investigate as his ears perked forward and his sniffed the air, tongue flicking out a bit like a snake. He was darting around a bit only because his mater was still on edge, but he would never attack anyone without a direct command unless he thought Colin was in danger.

It was neither, it was more a wild guess than anything else, although maybe he did pick up some subtle signs that others would miss. He nodded his head "I agree with you there.." He murmured, looking at the scarf for another moment "If this wasn't pushed into my hands that is.." A small sigh escaped and he kept his head bowed, giving both a small change to regain their composure. He felt like he had gone on a bad start and tried to safe it. The Tove seemed a good subject. He gave a small smile and looked back up, not looking that bothered by the other's surprise and nodded his head "Yes." He nodded his head to acknowledge the question the other had just asked. He listened shortly, before shaking his head halfway "Somewhat." He didn't speak the entire truth, in fact. He didn't really know how he got it, one day he was alone and the next the little critter was running next to him, exploring the grounds in a curious fashion. He had named it after a while, noticing that it didn't exactly go. He had finally decided to keep it when he had gotten into a fight and the Tove had showed the special ability it had, good old memories really. He shook himself lightly and then cleared his throat "Li-." He hadn't finished speaking the name as the Tove he had, seemingly, appeared out of nowhere, seeming exited. It circled a few times before settling down, head tilting to the side as it examined the other Tove and then the owner of said Tove. Its own tongue darting out for a moment as if to insult the other.

Pushed into his hands? Whoa...maybe there was more going on here than he'd thought? Maybe there was some sort of...well...he knew there was an illegal trade in Ace fur, though he shuddered to think of it. As much as both he and the Hawk weren't comfortable with the subject, he felt it was important and his duty as a decent Card to try and get to the bottom of this if it was sinister. After all, isn't that what he'd just gotten back from doing?
"Is someone forcing you to wear that...thing?" he pressed, eyes narrowed, intense, though his anger was not now directed at the bird himself.
He allowed himself the distraction of the Tove when it showed up, suddenly...eyebrows going up in surprise. Quite an odd looking thing, wasn't it? And...'somewhat?' What kind of an answer was that? There seemed to be quite a few mysterious things about this Angavar fellow. "Well now! That's quite a creature you have there," he said, watching as the Tove noticed him. "Does it have any special powers?"
Arpeggio stuck his tongue out right back, tasting the air. He growled, high pitched and odd, and followed by a curious trill as he spiraled in the air, darting now closer, now farther from the other Tove.

He shook his head dismissively "Not forcing me.." He answered "I just find myself unwillingly to part with it." He gave a faint shrug and looked at the other, hoping that he would drop the situation fast. He wouldn't like to see that something worse happened because he had stumbled across this scarf! He shrugged his shoulders, the wings moving a bit awkwardly and he stretched the left one slightly as if wanting to mention to the curious Tove by his side "Yes." He answered, a small smile playing around his features.
The Tove didn't want to be left behind and darted upward, following the other Tove. It rolled once into the sky and made a small, odd chirp sound. It didn't dare to come close however for a bit. It's curiosity won over and it darted even closer, another chirp sound escaping as it tilted his head to the side while blinking. He followed the Tove with his gaze, something like worry shooting into his veins, he shrugged it off however and focused back on the other. He hoped that Colin wouldn't be too freaked out by his strange manners and/or behavior.

"Unwilling to part with it..." Colin repeated, narrowing his eyes. He wanted to ask more, and opened his beak to try and figure out where the Hawk had gotten the mysterious, apparently powerfully magical item, but then...something else came out instead as his strong sense of personal justice was roughly pushed aside by his desire for social decency. After all, the sense of wanting to drop this subject emanating from the Hawk was not exactly subtle. "So do you play any instruments, Angavar?" Well. At least it was a more comfortable subject, especially for a fellow Villa. Colin had never met one that wasn't musically inclined, well, except for the very few that painted instead.
Arpeggio reared his horns a bit at first when the other Tove came close, but after the chirp, he floated a little closer, arms wiggling, ears perking towards him. He made a gentle trilling sound again, seeming to accept the presence of this other of his kind, and its closeness.

He nodded his head lightly, shoulders tensing lightly as the other Villa en Miir bird didn't seem to drop the subject. He was proved otherwise soon enough however and he nodded his head, posture instantly relaxing. He didn't like telling about his own live, he was rather private, like most would be, but he could be considered extreme. He was sometimes know to change subject abruptly, although he sometimes did try to refrain from doing so. His thoughts came to a rough stop as the other asked him a question, he watched the other silently for a while, trying to progress the reason behind the question, but the other had most likely caught up on his lack of wanting to answer. He finally nodded lightly "Indeed I do." He finally chose to reply, seeming to hesitate before countering the question politely out of honest curiosity.
He finally settled down in a quite comfortable position, shooting Colin a look and noticed that the other seemed to just talk right now and had stopped on questioning him as if he had done something illegal, maybe he had done so, but he didn't have any knowledge of it so in his mind it didn't happen. A easy way to deal with it, the silence stretched for a bit before he cleared his throat again "So." He started, again a bit stumbling over his words and shook his head lightly, having lost the question he wanted to ask. He really should go get some better social skills, or at least, learn to come better out of his words. He thought for a bit before nodding to himself mentally. He didn't want to appear rude and hoped that the other still wouldn't take it that way.
The Tove didn't come closer, happy enough with observing the other from where it was. It circled the other a bit, but always staying the same distance away, before extending out a small claw as if to touch the other, another chirp escaping.
