Ashwin gave her a pleasant smile, never quite willing to alienate such a lovely lady by being his normal snide self - really, only men or nasty witches got that treatment - and made a motion for her to wait just a moment while he headed up the back staircase to his apartment above and the room where the banders stayed. He grabbed the collars and spent a moment fiddling with pliers to get the bells firmly situated, then nabbed Boo as she conveniently passed by and buckled it around her throat. She blinked in surprise and shook her head, then stopped at the tinkling and just seemed confused. Spot was a bit more of a trick, but he eventually got the leopard male's head under his arm with only one light scratch for his troubles and affixed the collar with one hand. Years of practice made it possible, and luck. He slipped strong rope leads around the pair of their necks and led them down, the male less testy now that he had a noise on his neck to puzzle over. "Your pair with collars, Miss Haret, and I thank you for your custom. Feel free to drop by should you need any more presents, or if you need help with these two. I'm always happy to assist a lady in need."InfoName: Boo (temp) ID: BS018 Color: Periwinkle Pointed Tabby Female Genetics: XX rryyBBcc DDppttll InfoName: Spot (temp) ID: BS019 Color: Purple Tabby Leopard Male Genetics: XY RryyBBCC DDPpttLL Treasach seemed pleased with her reaction and sniffed her hand for a full minute before sitting back on his haunches and staring at her. He wasn't the most sociable of creatures, but he hadn't bitten her again. It was a good enough introduction.

Haret thanked the man demurely, paying quickly before taking the leads carefully before sending the man a rare smile. She simply really and truly hoped that this plan of hers would work out well in the end. ”I will be sure to let the girls know of your availability as well,” she said softly. With one final farewell, the Torquehelm slipped carefully by the Sorgaire Range skunk (when had that one come in?) and turned the pair towards the road. They had a bit of a journey ahead of them; hopefully the pair of banders would be calm by the time they got home.
Kelasia smiled gently at the beautiful creature, scooting over when the canine hurried her pair of Banders out of the store, perhaps to keep the Leopard male from attacking Treasach. Or perhaps she was simply in a hurry. The skunk watched the other woman go with some trepidation then glanced briefly at Ashwin before her eyes slipped back to the sand-toned Bander. The little creature was much easier to look at because he wasn’t a person.

Ashwin watched the curvy femme leave his shop with a brief sigh of regret. That hair would have been fun to play with but it was probably hell to work around in bed unless she did some awkward maneuvering. His eyes wandered across the room from the door and he caught sight of the skunk at last, her naturally muted colors making her less noticeable. Another one from the Range, like him and like the pretty little Maji-bird. His bander had apparently made introductions before he did.
"Hello there, Miss," he called out to get her attention. She looked timid, standing there like that. Maybe he'd have to coax her into whatever it was she wanted. That was alright. He had the time and sometimes it could be fun with the shy young ladies. "I see Treasach's already made your acquaintance and given you a sniff of approval. Are you interested in a bander yourself? Your first, perhaps?" He smiled, the leer much less obvious now. The shy ones always misinterpreted and sometimes got scared by such things. He wondered how young she was. He really couldn't tell.

Kelasia was fighting a need to dart out of the store, but her desire for a bander far outweighed her abhorrence at talking to people. Especially after seeing Theofilus’ Xanthe, the initial want was slowly becoming something closer to an obsession. ”Y-yes, t-to both,” she answered softly. She thought she was hiding the fixation well, but it was unlikely anyone could be that oblivious to the need in her gaze.
She was, however, oblivious to the potential sneering in his gaze; it still did not occur to her that anyone might find her even the least bit attractive. ”He’s gorgeous,” she said about Treasach. She longed to pet him, but she was fairly certain one of her books had warned against it. Maybe she was getting the information mixed up; though it had been quite a while since she’d read some of the books. ”I’m looking for something… rather specific,” she offered softly, unable to stop herself.

"He's not the only one who's gorgeous," the pine martin offered with a roguish link before waving his hand nonchalantly. "My dear, what kind of man would I be if I didn't make every effort to accommodate a lady's request? I have a rather extensive network of breeders in my acquaintance, and if one of them doesn't have what you're looking for then it probably doesn't even exist. What can I find that would make your day?"
Not only shy, but with a healthy dose of self-esteem issues. He could tell by the way she asked, like she was almost guilty for wanting something in particular rather than whatever he threw at her. He'd dealt with plenty of those in his time. Either the flattery would make her blush her way out of the store, or it would make her blush her way into a confession of what she was after. He was hoping for the latter, certainly.

The skunk flushed again, the colour dark across her fur. She still couldn't really handle flirting very well and the pine martin was smiling very pointedly at her as well as being flattering. The woman, nevertheless, hesitated for a very long moment before she tried to make herself answer his question, nerves still fighting with her desire for exactly the right bandersnatch. Normally she still wouldn’t even be able to not take anything he offered, but she knew that –her- bander existed somewhere. He had to… the perfect companion.
”Actually,” the skunk said softly. ”I’m looking for a red male bander.” She hesitated for a very long minute then continued on. ”I’m hoping for an appaloosa blanket with dappling…” Actually, that was exactly wot she wanted and if she couldn’t get it, it was unlikely she’d agree for anything less. But it also meant that she was frighteningly willing to pay wotever cost to get it.

Ashwin admired her fur as she hesitated, a bundle of nerves from what he could tell. Look at that tail, though... talk about plush. Despite the gray hair, which he was more than used to back home, he would probably peg her at somewhere between twenty and twenty-four, now that he was thinking about it and actually taking a guess. Young enough to be nervous around him, whether it was just because he was a man or because she wanted something or what. Old enough to have grown into herself like that. She looked even more furry than he was. How attractive.
"Red's not a hard color to find, nor is a blanket," he reassured her with a slight smile. "Dappling, maybe a little less common, but I actually think I know a woman not a day away in the Highlands who's been working on a line of reds. She might have what you're looking for. Not from the Highland lines, of course, but most of the quality breeders I acquire stock from live somewhere in the region. I can put in a request and see what she has available, though my guess is that you'll be in luck. For specific requests like that, I'd usually charge about fifteen tokens... though I'm certainly open to discussion if you feel that's a little much for your budget." He raised an eyebrow and his smile widened.

Fifteen! That was nearly as much as the last women had paid for TWO! Kelasia’s eyes grew wide at the price. That was so beyond wot she’d thought she’d have to pay! Especially when she wanted to get a collar and leash and things as well. It would be easily apparent to Ashwin that she hadn’t expected it to be so much, the skunk was not in the least bit schooled in hiding her expressions.
”He would still be of good quality, though, right?” she asked uneasily, trying to get a grip on her unease at the price. Gads, fifteen for one bander! She glanced at the booklet that the last female had left on the counter, but she knew immediately that they wouldn’t be wot she wanted. She needed this bander, just as she knew she wanted him to be. She gave a small sigh. ”Fifteen….” she echoed it again out loud.

Yes, the pretty thing hadn't been expecting that price at all, especially not after hearing what his previous customer just paid. "All of the banders I sell are of exceptional quality, I assure you," he agreed smoothly, watching her face. Poor thing, look at those wide eyes. "The cost comes from buying them out-of-stock. Hunting up a particular color is no great challenge, but finding an exact match of color and pattern, as well as gender, can require a bit of searching."
He leaned across the counter a little, mustache twitching a little. "Of course, there are other things I accept in addition to tokens as payment. Not everyone can offer it, dear, but I think you might be able to. If, of course, you're willing, and want that bander badly enough." He said it all with a charming smile, but his eyes weren't meeting hers. They were busy admiring the rest of her. Wouldn't it be nice if she was up to the challenge...

Kelasia gave an almost forlorn nod at his explanation; when he clarified the reasoning it, of course, made perfect sense. She just didn’t want it to be justified. Still… Her eyes were on Treasach as Ashwin continued speaking and, as usual, the woman didn’t immediately catch on to his words. Her eyes flicked hopefully up to his face at the knowledge that she might not have to pay all of fifteen tokens, but his eyes weren’t on her face. The skunk managed to flush an even deeper red and she didn’t reply, at least not immediately.
She wasn’t entirely oblivious to such ‘business’ deals; she simply never expected for one of them to be directed towards her. Almost inanely, she hugged her arms around herself, not covering anything but simply working to give herself a little more awkward courage. She could just walk away, perhaps even should… but Ashwin was her only chance for the perfect bander. Her only chance… Her brow set.
”Perhaps I’d be interested,” she answered lightly, pushing heavily on her innate Diamond charm. ”But I need to know just how much would still need to be paid in tokens… especially since I know my little male will need a collar and leash as well.” A coy sidelong glance, touched by the faint blushing that she couldn’t get rid of, even using magic.
