Late one evening, Xanthe manages to get away from Theofilius and disappears into the streets of the Selkie Lakes region, restless despite herself. She doesn't turn up again until next morning, looking none the worse for wear. A good bath and brushing will set her to rights in no time.
A few weeks later, her caretaker begins to notice that she's putting on a bit of weight in her midsection. A few weeks more and she exhibits the tell-tale signs of pregnancy, including a moodier disposition and ravenous appetite. Putting her anywhere near other banders at this point in time pretty much guarantees a fight. There's little more dangerous than a broody mother bandersnatch, and any of her species would recognize her condition almost immediately. Even they would know to stay clear.
Roughly three months after her impromptu journey into the unknown, she gives birth to a litter of three kits, all of them exhibiting patterns of some kind. From the variety, it's hard to determine what the father looked like, though it's certain that he carried a blue gene from all the colors present.
The first kit is a blue tabby leopard female, her spots quite vivid against her smooth white markings.
The second kit is a green pointed male, the only one of his color in the batch and rolling around like a little bundle of energy.
The third kit is a blue pointed tabby blanket female, her patterns proving that one or both parents carried some potent genes.
