Phaedra was already awake, sipping tea and doing a little bit of recreational reading. With all the class reading she had to do, and auxiliary class reading she had to do, it was sometimes difficult to just read for fun, but she could usually make time for it. Mostly this involved cutting back on sleep, but Phaedra figured she could sleep when she was dead. She glanced up when Dania came in, and pointed to the teapot.
"Good morning. Freshly brewed." What else had she been doing this last hour? Oh, right. Compiling the informational pamphlets on a few places Dania might like to see. There were about half a dozen that she considered really worth Dania's time, but they would see how well she liked them. "We can have a bit of breakfast and start out, if you like. We could get you to quite a few places if we're quick."
There had been something else, too--ah, there it was. "I was thinking about housing. You can wait until you get accepted somewhere and get a place in a student dormitory through them, or we can take you to the housing agency and see what apartments are open. In any event, you're welcome to stay here for as long as it takes to find something."

When Dania walked in, she smiled a bit sleepily at Phaedra, who seemed chipper despite the earliness of the hour. Almost too cheery, considering that a neatly displayed array of school pamphlets proclaimed just how long her hostess had already been up. It was possible, of course, that this was just a reflection of the glider's highly caffeinated state. "Good Morning." She eyed the steaming teapot. She poured a cup. "Thank you." She was going to need the energy for the day that was ahead of her.
"Oh, I'll be ready to start when you are." She sipped the tea and admitted, "Breakfast sounds nice." Dania took a seat and began to gingerly leaf through the pamphlets, careful not to change the order in which they had been placed. She wasn't sure it was significant, be she already knew enough about Phaedra to at least suspect it might be.
"Oh, um... I'd like to at least take a look at the dorms, for a start, but if that doesn't work out I can manage a regular apartment, I think." A genuine smile crossed her pointed rodent face at Phaedra's offer. She was touched by the generosity of a near-stranger. "Thank you, that's very kind." For a moment, she wasn't sure she really wanted to leave.

"It's no trouble," she said, leaving her post at the table to fumble around for a couple pieces of cooking equipment. Ham-filled scrambled eggs and some bacon, that sounded hardy enough, didn't it? And she had a bit of strudel to heat up, too. The thought of pouring syrup all over her eggs was also compelling. "I often undervalue the presence of good company." She waved her spatula at the pamphlet pile. "I put the best choices on top," she said. "Or at least, what I think are. You should definitely see which ones you think you'd like best. I figure we can go to those ones first, take a look around, grab you the necessary paperwork. Maybe even find someone in admissions to answer any questions." She served up breakfast, and went rather quickly through her own. She was probably as eager to hit the streets as her guest. [feel free to jump wherever you want ]

After a filling breakfast, Dania seemed to rather quickly find herself before a large brick building labeled 'ADMISSIONS' in an imposing font. Like many of Esterberry's venerable buildings, it was ornate with vines blooming a brilliant magenta and each cornice was decorated with a marble statue representing one of the scholarly virtues (or something similarly abstract) in human form.
The rat regarded this strange place she had come to somewhat dubiously. It was part of the college which was described in glowing terms by the pamphlet on the top of the stack-- with little personal knowledge on the subject and considerable trust in Phaedra's judgment, she had let the glider's choices guide her in the order of visitation. "So, I guess this is it." She remarked lamely.
Slightly unnerved, she nearly tripped going up the steps to the heavily carved door of the admissions building. The campus had more than passed muster, boasting expansive grounds, cutting-edge labs and a library that could have swallowed her hometown's small collection several times over. The next step was to pick up the application forms that would later be filled out in duplicate and mailed back to the school with a small processing fee.
