Welcome to both of you, boot camps. If you have any questions about the fleet, feel free to ask.
And, if it helps:
corps c.1275, cors "body," from O.Fr. cors, from L. corpus "body" (see corporeal). The -p- was re-inserted 15c., following Fr., based on L. original. Sense in Eng. evolved from "dead body" (13c.) to "live body" (14c.) to "body of citizens" (15c.) to "band of knights" (1464). The modern military sense (1704) is from Fr. corps d'armée (16c.), picked up in Eng. during Marlborough's campaigns.
I guess it's pronounced that way since the French don't feel the need to pronounce all the letters in their words? They are freakin' French, after all.

awesome, so theres other navy people out there as well on this? Cool beans. I cant wait to finish corpschool and hit the fleet. My grandfather was a medic for the army and I wanted to be a medic in the military in his footsteps, i just chose Navy instead of army But anyway, thanks for the info on the word ' corpsman ' thats really interesting.

thanks for the welcome both of you The more I read around the more it seems this is a cross between Roger Zelazny's (Spelling?) Amber series and a verry dark allice in wonder land >_< (Btw, if any of you have not read the Amber series, from what I can see here, most of you might love it)

Heyla! Welcome to SoD. As you can see, we're a friendly bunch, if a bit lacking in the sanity department. We've pretty much decided that it makes things easier to deal with.

I am a United States Sailor.
I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America and I will obey the orders of those appointed over me.
I represent the fighting spirit of the Navy and all who have gone before me to defend freedom and democracy around the world.
I proudly serve my country’s Navy combat team with Honor, Courage and Commitment .
I am committed to excellence and the fair treatment of all.
4: put mask back on 5: clear mask 6: exit... Now if you know anything about Tear Gas... military style... its really bad... it does its job something good!!!... I nearly puked on 1/20 of a dose... now I haev to do 100%!!! and say that Creed while under the influenec... SO I AM CRAZY!!!
