The board tends to go through periodic phases of siggy-pets. x3 You'll no doubt find the pets of past eras as you browse through peoples' posts.
The thing about paging pets that always annoyed me was how many were down because people felt the insane urge to 'remodel' their site and never put anything back up. xD On this board, we need everything accessible for everyone, so it made more sense not to put people through paging hoops and tricks.
If you were looking for an active, chatty, weird community... I think you've found it. x3

Hmmm, none of our reserve starters fit your criteria, but I'll do my best with what we have on hand, never fear. There are always contests that can help you get an SD that better fits your ideals, have a good time, your starter will be up shortly.
