Ataxia paced back and forth in front of the fountain, pausing every few minutes to look around. Capital City wasn't much her style. Why anyone would use this much marble in one place was beyond her. Horrible building material, really. And roses, the smell of them was unbearable. If only she could take one of the vials from home and 'accidentally' pour it into the soil...That thought, for just a moment, put a smile on her face. What a gaudy mess...Still, such was necessary. Besides, when were business transactions ever supposed to be enjoyable? Ugh, what one will do for the necessary chemical components...She flopped down onto the stones watching the passerby. How to pitch this...Gotta be honest, but not too honest…Keep confidence, but not come off as too arrogant…and most important of all, be a serious kissass. She stood up, doing her best to look presentable, which amounted to pulling up her armbands and a quick shake of her mane. Should be about time.

Lamya was doing a bit of shopping herself, though she was actually looking for things that the other chemical Corvistownian would probably consider beneath her. Specifically, Lamya was looking through the roses, a particularly sharp pair of shearing scissors tucked away. More than once, she'd been glad that she was a ferret, and thus had rather hand-like paws, capable of manipulating what was necessary. It wasn't as fine as actually having hands, but it was the closest that she was going to get for now. She wandered along the paths, occasionally taking a snipping here and there, always where the bush could afford to give up a flower or two, or some leaves. There were very interesting natural poisons in plants, designed to keep pollenators from taking too much from them, or to keep certain types of creatures from eating them. The Corvistownian had recently begun doing specific experiments with plant poisons, and she was very much interested in the roses in the Capital City. If it were all possible, she wanted to see if she could get some clippings from the Court of Hearts and all of the extensive flowers there. Rounding a corner, red eyes looked up to see another from her region, and she couldn't help but smile. She honestly liked the people of her region, no matter how odd or strange that they might appear to outsiders. They generally turned out to be the most entertaining people around, aside from taunting Torquehelms with bright and happy surroundings. One of the most entertaining toxins that she'd ever come up with hadn't been a toxin, per say, but it had certainly bothered the Torquehelm she'd used as a subject, sending him into uncontrollable gales of laughter at various things randomly throughout a twenty-four hour period. She'd loosed him into a Torquehelm town, and watched with unbridled glee as the residents reacted with horror at the laughing rat. Certainly it was the bright pink armbands that the other sported that managed to really draw her attention, other than the black-and-green coloring. The mane was another draw, and the ferret cheerfully approached the other where she stood by the fountain. "Hello there!"[ooc: Hi? I figured that Lamya would probably get along well with her, and I've been wanting to play her. ^_^]

In her pacing and waiting and thinking, Ataxia was completely oblivious to her fellow ferret friend until she was right in front of her. She stumbled back, nearly falling headfirst into the fountain before regaining her balance. After regaining a bit of her respectability back, she took a gander at the amiable amigo. Corvistownian, and not only an Ebony, but a club! Relief spilled over her like a hazard shower after setting your mane on fire for the umpteenth time. One of the pluses for having black fur.
"Heya there! What brings you to this kinda place? Doing a bit of collecting yourself?"
It was her first and only assumption. After all, why else would a Corvistownian club waste her time in a place like this when there was lab work to do back at home? At least even if the buildings weren’t exactly up to code, the decor was more reasonable…and they didn’t have so many damn roses.

Cauter trotted swiftly down the fairly empty street toward the center of the plaza. Humming a jaunty tune that caused him to pull an awkward quick-step, hooves clopping in time to the beat of the song, thin chains clinking softly as they banged against his face and one another. Business prospect...His lips slid back into his infamously too braod grin at the thought...sure he would have to fork over some cash...but it would get him some profit in the end if this canine was as good as her barely covered boasts. Hmmm...now what to give the girl in return...? He could always offer her shop credit...perhaps he could locate a certain something she had been looking for and be sure that she recieved a "dicount"? That sounded most plausible, he couldn't wait to meet with the girl and see what she had for him. The fountain finally came into view covered in roses and...black with eratic green markings...that must be her. Grinning ever more broadly, he stepped up the pace.

Ataxia's ears perked as she heard the clip-clop of hooves in the near distance. She lifted up her head and a forepaw and glanced around for the source. It didn't take her long to find it, either. The purple equine was more than easy enough to spot in a crowd and the jingle and clinks of the jewelry and chains made it even more distinct. Her tail wagged enthusiastically, almost as if it had a mind of its own, but shared the general feelings of its host. As much as it pained her to end a conversation with another Corvistownian so soon, business was calling, and it wasn't a call she was going to put on hold.
"You'll have to pardon me, pal, but I'm actually here on some business. It shouldn't take too long. If you want, maybe we could meet up later, get a drink? If not, maybe we can meet up back at Corvistowne."
With a bounce in her step, she trotted over to Cauter.
"Just the guy I wanted to see...nice accessories, by the by. I hoping we can make some sort of arrangement that will do good to both of us. This place fine for you to talk business, or should we find a place more quiet-like?"

"You got it. It's fun, 'cause this sort of stuff is free as long as you ask for permission, so it's a lot cheaper than some other components. Especially if you want 'em live," she replied brightly, fairly sure that the other was here for just that purpose. The horn on her head bobbed up and down as she nodded, like a conductor's baton. It was fun to see if she could get people nodding along with her if she ever did that, though she was always very careful to keep from nodding in time with live music, because it could throw off the players. Unless, of course, it was bad music, in which case she did it shamelessly.
Oh, it seemed like she wouldn't have too much of a chance to talk with her fellow, as it appeared that her contact had arrived. But lo! An invitation to meet up afterward!
"I'd like that, yeah," she said, a quick grin on features that never really seemed to lose the expression. "I've only been to the city a few times before, so I do know some okay pubs and the like, but if you've got anything in mind, tell me and I'll meet you there."
And then, as the lab was bouncing over to the horse who had come to meet her, the ferret added, "Oh! The name's Lamya."

The Equine ground to a halt as the green splattered form bounded up to him; grinning broadly he hailed the Canine.
"Good day, my dear. I'm hoping I find you well and chock full of items to sell me?"
He tapped his thick fingernails together as he listened to the Corvistowneian spew her words. He nodded.
"Anywhere's good so long as we don't shout, but I wouldn't mind a business lunch, shall we take a jaunt to the sandwich Shoppe, my dear?"
He smiled again before turning to saunter off in the direction of the sandwich Shoppe. A nice, squat little building full of savory aromas, and tasty delicacies. Cauter knew that a little flirting with the wait staff would get him a discount...and hopefully that would make his little guest all the more willing to sell or trade for something small.
"So what types of delightful items will you be tickling my fancy with? Explosives, candies, animals?"
He asked in excitement, eyes practically glowing at the prospect.

Ataxia trotted alongside the shopkeep, a quick jog keeping her in step with Cauter. Just the thought of food made her mouth water, but she swallowed quick. No looking like Pavlov dog now, especially with the types of items she would be bringing to the table.
"Well, while clothes, jewelry and other trinkets might add a little sparkle to someone's look, there's not much on the market to really bring out that natural beauty. That's what I've come to offer. I've got some beauty products that'll make 'em go from bland to jaw-dropping. Some of the banders I’ve tested it on really showed some improvements after the treatment. Silky fur, shiny eyes, lovely.”
She paused for a moment, leaning in towards Cauter before finishing her comment.
“Though I’ll let ya know in advance. Sometimes, this stuff can be a bit…shaky, to put it lightly. There’s a bit of risk involved, but hey, what’s life without a bit of risk, huh?”
Smiling with a bit of a tail wag, she moved back and lifted up a paw.
“So, what do you think? I can get you a few samples of the stuff for a fair enough price.”

"Oooh, beauty products! I don't get many samples of those running through my shoppe! I would simply love to have a few of those samples featured in my store. I do love appealing to as many audiences as I can...it helps with the look.
He gave her a knowing grin at the warning, eyes slightly hooded.
"Oh don't worry about that, most of the people who peruse my items know well enough what they could be getting themselves into. I just ask for a slight demonstration before I accept. I will make sure you are rewarded, of course. Ah! Here we are."
He exclaimed, gesturing to the brightly colored sandwich shop. He held his hand out in front of him, making an elegant leg, facial adornments jingling.
"After you, my dear. After all, what kind of business man would I be if I didn't treat my client to a meal?"

"I'm glad I could be of some help to you! And of course, I wouldn't expect you to take my word for it. I've got the demonstration all prepped up right..."
... ... Oh, right! The bander cage! Where did I put that...? Ooh! By the fountain! Behind a bench! That's where it is!
"...in a moment! Need to get the bander!"
Ataxia grinned sheepishly and bolted back to where she had been seated near the fountain. Thankfully, the bander was not hard to find. Vortex's growling could be heard from quite a distance. It was a good thing she brought him as opposed to the others. No one would dare think to take this little guy home with his skeleton paw and horrible disposition. She nipped up the bander cage and the bag of vials next to it and padded back to Cauter, placing the items in front of him.
"A sandwich would be great, but first allow me to show you my work. That and I doubt the owners would want a...bander in their shop."
Ataxia carefully took the vials out of the bag, opening the red one and setting it on the ground. She then opened the green vial, and with a gentle tip of her head, poured the contents into the red one. She repeated the process, mixing the contents of the vials by switching them back and forth until they made a deep mahogany. After scrutinizing the color with a nod, she opened a small hatch on the top of the cage - small enough to pour something into it without releasing what was inside - and poured the solution onto Vortex.
The reaction was almost instantaneous. Vortex grew more slim and muscled. His fur, once matted and slightly dirty, was a thick shiny tan coat. Small feathered wings poked out of the fluff and his short, slightly curled tail elongated with just as much fluff and fur as the rest of his newly-changed body. Even the skeleton paw was improved upon; the exposed bone now shone like polished ivory. While, sadly, he still kept the same personality, he looked, well, adorable.
"Well, what do you think?" Ataxia said with a tail wag, "One of the better reactions, if I do say so myself."
