Her voice already indicated that she was growing upset, and Silvanus shook nervously. He couldn't turn back now, he didn't have a choice weather he could tell her or not, and he hadn't wanted to lie. He was tired of lying. Lying got him into the situation with Igal in the first place. He wouldn't lie to his dearest friend, even if she would only remain his friend until he began speaking. He scratched the back of his neck, unable to stop. Since the incident, his bandages had come off...and he had healed just fine...so that there were no reminents of the attack. It was a miracle really. Igal could have killed him. He silently wished in this moment that he had.
"It was....never my intention to hurt Igal....ever....but...I've done a horrible thing, and now he refuses to speak to me. I don't really blame him." he said simply...avoiding the question once again. He continued to scratch his neck. He was slowly panicing. He didn't want to loose the only person that really cared about him...but there was no way around it. "Astyana....she...advanced upon me." he started, though there was nothing accusing in the way that he said the sentence. More...just an explination. "I...don't know what...came over me...but...I couldn't....restrain myself. I asked about Igal....I thought...maybe that would....stop me. But she said...she didn't want Igal. I couldn't...restrain myself. he drew his hand back from behind his neck to reveal blood. He had managed to scratch himself into bleeding. "Igal....found out....Astyana...Astyana is pregnant." he said visibly paling now that his story was complete. He knew in his heart what would come next, and he feared it. He could not feel sorry for himself. There was nothing in his words that indicated that he was. If anything, his words held the discust that he had been feeling for the last few weeks since the incident. He was beating himself up on the inside, and it would be apparent. However...this knowledge would not stop Ophelia from feeling the same discust for him. He didn't want her to feel sorry for him....even...
"You can't go out this late at night." Severus said coldly, and disiplinarian like. He wasn't asking her to stay, he was telling her she had to stay. This might cause some sourness from Mephi, but he hardly cared. Severus was often put in charge of his siblings, and he was NOT about to get in trouble if Mephi decided to go out and get in trouble, and as one of her oldest siblings...he expected her respect. Weather he was going to get it or not was uncertain...and probably unlikely. Then again...he wasn't asking for her respect...he was demanding it. And after waking him up in the middle of the night, she damn well show it!
He completely ignored her question, instead answering with a small narrowing of his eyes. Condecencing little bastard that he was, he wasn't about to go to sleep until he saw her creep back into bed and fall asleep. Vertumnus continued to snore...slowly gaining volume. This annoyed Severus greatly...and he felt like kicking the stupid Avington boy out of spite. Though...they hardly all needed to be awake.

Ophelia listened quietly but with such intensity that what came once he'd finished speaking wouldn't at all come as a surprise. Shaking her head slowly, aware of the disgust radiating in her dear friend's voice, Ophelia lifted a hand and slapped him once across the face. Anything more, in Ophelia's opinion, would've been excessive when the force of her slap conveyed her feelings on all this is beyond accurately.
"Oh how could you, Silvanus! Even I knew how much Igal has always cared for Astyana!"
Despite the anger she was radiating, there was something more than she wouldn't she speak of nor would she show in her voice, although it lingered like a small shadow in the back of her eyes. Jealousy. Ophelia would never dream of holding Silvanus to a relationship with her, she had always given him freedom and the promise of absolutely no strings attached, but a small voice in the back of her mind still strained in frustration. For some time now, Ophelia was aware that she'd begun to fall for Silvanus but she had and most likely always would keep it securely hidden from everyone's knowledge but her own...
"You are not in charge of me, Severus... I will go out if I want."
Mephitisia's voice was in her usual unemotional state, but there was an edge to it now. It was sharper, icier. Severus was her only sibling she respected but she wasn't going to allow him to order her about like he could control her.
The female lifted her head, flicking back her ears, and abruptly turned her back on him.
"I am not staying inside, Severus. You and Xylia are welcome to go out with me, but I will not stay in when I'm not tired."
Xylia bounced slightly, her little tail swaying eagerly back and forth as her bright youthful eyes glinted. She was awake now and more than up for a little mischief at Mephitisia's side. Yet, despite the troublesome urge over-sweeping her while alone in Mephit's presence, she was still trying to make everyone happy.
"It's okay, Sev! We'll be okay and, if you want to, you can come to! Then we'll be extra safe!"

Silvanus didn't have time to think before he was promptly slaped. The force of the slap throwing his head a little. Usually when one got slapped, there was always an instance of anger before finally settling into whatever emotion one was going to settle into after getting slapped. But there is always that split second of wanting to knock the daylights out of the person who slapped you. It was different for Silv. He felt no anger. He felt hollow, and a sensation...that he almost wanted Ophelia to keep hitting him. As if the one slap, was not enough. It was his guilt that was eating him up inside...and a slap was barely anything next to it. Maybe Ophelia knew this...and decided that his punishment...would be to forever feel that guilt. Guilt was his secret, and guilt was now what his life seemed to be. Absolutely consumed by it. He wondered when the Furies would come to seek their vengence upon him....for he had done enough in his life to warrent their arrival.
"I don't know..." he said simply. Because in the end, he didn't actually know why he had done what he had. He knew like Ophelia, that Igal loved Astyana...more then anything. Still he had been unable to restrain himself. It was the act of someone attempting to fill a hole....a hole that needed to be filled so despreately that the consequences seemed minimal compared to the lonliness. But could this really be him? "I don't know." he repeated, more to himself then to Ophelia.
Severus' eyes narrowed. He had not asked her not to leave. He had told her not to leave. This made him angry, to be so tossed aside. Did she have no feelings for the fact that he might get in trouble with her troopsing around in the middle of nowhere at the dead of night? "You are staying inside, because mom will be furious if she finds out. I'm not about to get in trouble on your behalf!" he said being cold and brutally honest. "Doesn't it occur to you at all that its a bad idea to be traveling around at night in a place weve never been to before?" he said to the both of them, though pointing it more towards Xylia, the one who usually had more sence then to go against what their mother would consider good behavior. It seemed like he was going to be a spoil sport.
Vertumnus' snoring grew intolerably loud now, and Severus couldn't contain himself. With a jab of a sharp hoove he poked Tumnus into wakefulness. The little buck rubbed his eyes, blinking them and having them adjust to the light. "Huh? Whats going on?" he said a little to loudly, which warenteed a hoof in his mouth from Sev. "Quiet..." he said...and turned back to their two sisters.

Ophelia nearly yelled, nearly scolded Silvanus like a child...nearly beat the snot out of him, for that matter...and yet, she couldn't bring herself too. Something in his posture, in his unspoken and lethargic reaction to her brutal slap left her in a state of bittersweet confusion. The femme was torn, torn between being absolutely pissed and being sympathetic. Silvanus had done a horrendous thing in betraying his foster son, and Ophelia was jealous in ways she'd never be able to meet, but she also know Silvanus well enough to know how he must've been beating himself up.
"Silvanus..."
What did you say to something like this? How did you react to it? Silvanus was one of the few people she could announce as closest to her and her heart and yet, Igal was dear to her as well. He didn't deserve what Silvanus had done, not at all...but she was sure Silvanus did not deserve the abuse he put himself through either. Slowly she reached out, placed a hand to his cheek and glared hard at him.
"What can I say to this? You're not horrible, it was a horrible thing to do...but you are not entirely horrible." Her look was hard, searching. "You love Igal, I know you do...but I can understand if he does not forgive you for some time. Eventually things will be right again, they always are in one way or another."
This shouldn't have hurt Ophelia like it did...but it did. In her thoughts she knew well enough that she did not possess Silvanus in any way and he knew it too, jealousy was wrong of her, but she could not deny that it was there.
Xylia shifted, her eyes growing conflicted. Mephitisia had always had the ability to manipulate her sister, but Severus was right. If something happened than Severus might get in trouble... Xylia didn't want that!
"Mephi...maybe he's right...? Maybe we should stay in after all?"
It was probably the most reasonable thing said between the girls but Mephitisia wasn't about to budge in the least. Her eyes were cold as she stared between her siblings and, abruptly, she turned on her hooves and headed for the door.
"I respect you Severus but you will not hold me where I do not wish to be... This place cannot be anymore dangerous than Corvistowne is at night, I will be fine. If Ophelia has complaints later, than Xylia can vouch for you that it was of no lack of your trying that I went for a midnight walk."
In the dark of night, listening to Mephit's chilling voice must've been unnerving. Without vision in the dark it was hard to picture her a child, or a human at very least. Frigid, unemotional... She sounded more like an animated corpse at time than the their sister, even Xylia trembled as she took it in.

"Am I not entirely horrible? Are you so sure in your words? When you have not known me for long enough to make that judgement? Trust me when I say I am not worthy of the company you give me." Silvanus said, his guilt making him bubble inside with anger. He was a terrible person, he was sure of it. He wasn't quite so sure why he wanted Ophelia to know how terrible of a person he was though. What was he trying to accomplish by proving his horrible nature to her? Normally he would not dare speak to anyone about what he had told her, or the things of the past that he still continued to keep secret from her.
He closed his eyes against the feel of her hand against his burning cheek, feeling completely unworthy of the gesture and wishing she could just....beat him. He needed it, anything, to make the memories and the internal pain go away. He had grown used to having Igal in his household. Several years the hybrid had lived with him, and now he was gone. He was alone, and it was his fault. Now the only company he had was his guilt. But guilt never goes away, or at least it didn't for Silvanus, it just lay dormant until another log was added to the flame, feeding it and making it grow high once again.
"I don't think things will turn out ok. And I don't blame anyone but myself for it."
Severus smiled a bit. Finally someone was talking sence. He could always count on Xylia to do that, even if her brain did need a little shake now and again to get things going in the right direction. His expression changed, however, when Mephi became stubburn, and would not see reason. It was true, that even Severus found his sister's demenor chilling, but somehow he was not as unnerved as most children would have been. Severus had a strange intrest in the intrinsically morbid, and his sister was no acception. Her intimadation technique wouldn't work with Severus that easily.
"I'm not letting you go." Severus said just as stubbornly, and with less words, in his own intimidating voice. It was one that held all the contempt and condecending tones of his usual voice, but now it had an edge that said 'I really wouldn't if I were you'.
Vertumnus, having just woken up...didn't really know what to think of the senario. Xylia and Mephi were leaving the house? He gave his brother a look. He didn't like the tone his brother was using. "See...you should be careful around him...with that tone of voice...I would say that he's going to hurt someone...He's evil Vertumnus...you need to be alot more weary of him then you have been..." said a masculine voice, though the others wouldn't be able to hear it at all. It made Vertumnus' head turn ubruptly, searching for the figure to go along with the voice, but it seemed as if he wouldn't make himself visible today. Vertumnus understood his companion's words though....he could see what he was saying in Severus' demenor. He stood up and headed toward Mephi and Xylia. The voice had warned him against them to, but they seemed to have an interesting prospect of leaving. He didn't want to make his father angry, but he did feel a great urge to explore aswell now that he was awake.
"Don't Vertumnus. It's not safe..." Severus said, and it seemed as if that was all he was going to say on the matter to his brother. Vertumnus simply snorted. "You know....he's not completely wrong about that...." spoke the masculine voice again to Vertumnus. "You both have sticks up your butts. Let's just go." he said turning and heading towards the door. To the group of three younglings, they would think that his comment was aimed towards Mephi and Severus, only Vertumnus and the strange voice only he could hear would know that it was directed towards Sev and the voice.
"So be it...but don't say I didn't warn you........Remember what I've told you...about him..." It was with that comment that Vertumnus nearly shivered. Him...

"If you are so terrible and I know so very little of you, Silvanus, then tell me what I don't know. This incident has been terrible yes, and you are entirely at fault, but I do not believe it alone makes you a terrible person!"
The unusual woman was growing slowly upset but not so upset that she was willing to rush away from him once more. Silvanus meant a great deal to her, but his words were steadily corrupting her image of him. It was not his great talk of being horrible and wretched but the sinking realization that she truly did not know him despite how she felt she had before.
Of all the things to drive between them now, the realization that she was sharing a bed with a stranger held her at bay the most.
Xylia paused abruptly as, in the midst of her decision to listen to Severus, Vertumnus jumped to side with Mephitisia and the proposal for an outdoor explanation. The young doe blinked in surprise, green eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. Now she was being pitted against two of her siblings, one being Mephit, and only Severus was staying behind. It was, she feared, more rational to stay and protect Mephit and Vertumnus... Severus would be alright in bed, wouldn't he? Or, even better, he'd do good to be with the three of them.
"Sev...Won't you come with us? It'll be safer if its the four of us, right?"
As usual, Xylia meant well, despite her attempts to please everyone at once. It nearly made Mephitisia sick but, if the little 'peace keeper' could once again play her part then the little doe's antics would be quite worth it.
"It's your choice, Severus, but I am not lingering inside. This is my first time to the city, I want to see it myself."
She turned her back to him completely then, flicking her tail lightly before strolling toward the door without a care about any of his further complaints.

"What I did with Astyana and Igal isn't the worst thing I've done in my life. I dare not say anything.... he wrung his hands, not looking at her, his back slumped. He wanted to tell her. A part of him really did. He wanted her to know everything about him. She was his best friend after all, and despite the fact that they werent together, and that he didn't really have the intention of ever asking for more then what they currently had, they still had an emotional bond. He cared a great deal for her, and he only hoped for the same. But he knew...telling her the things he kept locked away...could only end in one way. "I don't want to loose you as well." he said finally....though his body ached. An answer like that wasn't really a great one. It would only leave her wondering. But at least...in her wondering...she might stick around. If he told her...he doubted shed stay. What he did with Astyana was certainly not the worst thing he had done in his life.
"It'd be safer...if you all just stayed here." he said, stubburn on his point. Though he did understand what Xylia was getting at. It was the nature of his problem. Still, he opted to stand by his original choice, of staying here and making sure everyone else did and went safely back to bed. Recieving Mephi's back filled Severus with a bit of rage. How dare she! "We can all explore it tomarrow with Silvanus and Ophelia...since Silvanus seemed so set on showing us around earlier today. It will be safer then. But now...you should all be in bed." he said, stablizing his tone as best he could, but adding just a bit more of his natural condecending attitude into it. He stepped forward, ready to block their exit out of the room.
Vertumnus seemed to have snapped out of his fearful state, and was angered by Severus. He had a similar mind to Mephi in that moment. Who did Severus think he was ordering them about like he was the Queen of Sheba! Besides...even with the fear of 'him'...he couldn't help but be curious about what the city had to offer as far as things to look at and exploration. Vertumnus grinned as he gained a small plan in his head. Maybe he hadn't thought it through very much...but he was never one to actually plan things through. As Severus approached he reared, and butted his brother squarely on the head with his own hard one. Severus, not expecting the force of such a hit, had no time to duck or dodge, and was hit hard. He fell like a stone, passed out. Vertumnus wiggled his tail...happy with his handywork.
"You're going to get it now...you'll never hear the end of it from your mother." said the voice. Vertumnus mearly shrugged, facing the door once again. "So...are we going or what?"

"Truth, in my opinion, is always better than nothing. No matter what, Silvanus, I will be here for you. I may not like your actions or you decisions, but I will still stand by you."
Ophelia took a deep breath, studying her friend from across the bed and slowly offered a decisive nod. She wanted to know. Not for the sake of prying apart an Avington's secret but to know what exactly it was that Silv was concealing from her. If he believed this secret was great enough to rend apart their friendship than it was best to know now rather than later.
"I'm not trying to pry, you know I respect an Avington's secrets, but if ever you feel the need or the comfort of telling me, and I'd like to know what exactly it is that you believe would drive me away." Nothing could drive her away, at least not permenantly. She might be angry with him for a few days, but she could not reject him completely. At least...that's what she continued to tell herself.
Xylia gasped in horror as Tumnus headbutted Severus and left the frail-looking male crumpled on the floor. What was he thinking doing such a thing?! Xylia didn't want to go out nearly bad enough to hurt her brother at all! Not, of course, that Tumnus needed an especially driving reason to headbutt Sev when he didn't like him much to begin with.
Meanwhile, as Xylia stared down at Severus, Mephitisia began to walk casually toward the door. She hadn't even gone so far to spare as to spare a concerned glance back toward her fallen sibling. Severus was one of her favorites, but there was simply nothing she could or, rather, would do. Staying home when her head was pounding and she was restless was simply be out of the question.
"Yeah, we're going. Hurry up Xyl, he'll be fine."
Xylia whimpered a little, offering Sev a final glance before she quietly hurried after her still-conscious siblings.
