Vesper bobbed her head absently before flopping down onto her rump to better maneuver with the bandages and salve being offered to her. "Uh-huh, two brothers... but only one that actually cares." Why should Nova care? He was 'perfect', no one cared about the tiny hint of Lowlander in him. He wasn't even rotting. Fucker. "Kat really looks out for me, but I feel bad always comin' home like this..." Vesper's tone, which was usually laced with sarcasm or bitterness or simply slurred with alcohol, took on a gentler edge as she spoke of Kat. He was really the only good thing in her life. Even Cyanide, who occasionally brightened her day, didn't really give her the same affection.
Or consideration.
But she didn't ask for it either.
"Thanks." With semi-skill from long practice of wrapping up her wound despite intoxication, Vesper used her nimble paws to apply one of the salves offered to her wound, cringing a little as she did, and wrapped it neatly with the bandages.
A place to stay? She could go home, or to Cy... but she was out here due to an argument with Cy and she really didn't want to go back to Kat after promising she wouldn't do this again since she'd lost her eye last time. "Errr, not really. I know a guy at the Court of Clubs but I dun't think he'd be much interested in talking when I'm wanged up like this." She shook her head. "Nor do I really think I could find my way back from, wherever this is. What with my current state of drunkenness."

Both children froze at the mention of the Court of Clubs. Eurwen made a curious nose and her brother shifted his weight, as is tail curled up tightly. He was the first one to speak, of course, since Eurwen could hardly believe that anyone would associate with Lowlanders.
"The Court is a rather far journey, especially if you intend to take the trip at night on foot. Maybe you should stay here. My sister and will have to leave before sunrise so we don't worry our parents, but you can sleep it off until then." His lips twitched into a slight smile.
Eurwen made a small noise. "All right, if he's not going to say it I will. Who do you know in the court of Clubs?" Her tail thrashed a bit as she narrowed her eyes at the rat. Why would anyone respect a Lowlander in the courts. The very thought made her ill. She ignored her brother's disapproving sound.

Vesper instantly noticed the tension that her absent mention of the Court of Clubs had made. Huh. Perhaps she should have thought that one threw more?
Her gaze slid slowly over their chests, noticing the familiar markings once more. Yeah... So they were both clubs but only Radz was 'court material' and even then he was pretty young. The rat mix shifted slightly, wishing one of them would just say something.
Of course Radz broke the silence. Vesper's tail curled against herself. "Yeah... I've tried it a few times, not too fun. I'd appreciate havin' a place to sleep the booze off." That little smile of his kept Vesper constantly off guard. She might have spend more time with the blind, they didn't sneer or snub her nearly as much.
Which, of course, brought her back to the one who could see her and, therefore, stick her nose up her. Vesper blinked in mild surprise as Eurwen spoke and then shrugged her shoulders. "I go tah see Cyanide, mostly, but mah dad works there as well... Not that I ever talk to the old man." She slowly glanced between the two of them. "Not a problem, is it? I don't go 'n' bother anyone." In fact, she kept her nose as far away from public attention as possible lest Toli discover her and try to be fatherly or some bullshit like that.

Cyanide? Eurwen's face twisted. Wasn't he one of Grandpa's.... kids with that horse guy. She had never been to clear on that. All she knew was there were a boat load of babies and she sure as hell couldn't keep them straight.
"Really?" Eurwen said as she eyed the girl. Well she must have been telling the truth. Otherwise there would have been one hell of a scandal as far as the courts went. She was pretty sure some rag magazine would pick up on a love affair of a titled noble if a Lowlander was involved. At least she hoped. Otherwise she might just have to change the world herself when she grew up. Even if she had to use the power of her fists.
Radz couldn't help but wonder what his sister was thinking. Then again, he was sure he didn't want to know. She was far less tolerant when it came to "Lowlander Scum." He was at least willing to give a mix a chance... after all she didn't seem to be all that bad. And she didn't smell completely of death. "Anyway, if you can get up we have a place we use to sleep."

Vesper watched as Eurwen's face twisted, happy that she was too intoxicated to think of something sharp to say. Heh, they'd probably have words another day if Vesper's luck was anything to gauge by. Especially if they lived in The Court or something.
"Yeah... You know Cy?" Vesper eyed the girl cautiously. Or did she know someone like Nova. Would she give Nova a break just cause he was 'handsome' and not rotting? She quickly decided against mentioning Cas at all. No use giving him a potential ally in ruining her life.
When Radz spoke again, Vesper nodded and wobbled to her feet. It had been long enough since her last drink that she could walk with a bit less stumbling but she still had a steady sway and a small slur. "Thanks again for patchin' me up and putting me up for the night."

"You could say that," The mouse said with a shrug as turned away. "I wouldn't mention us to him if I were you. He's the jealous type because he doesn't get out that often." She padded off to prepare the crash spot.
Radz would have scolded his sister, but he knew it wasn't any use. She was entirely too dense when it came to manner. One day it was going to get her in trouble too. The mouse eagle sighed. "It's not a problem. Just promise you'll come back in a week or so we can take a look at how you've healed."
The "lab" was set up in such a manner that the mouse eagle could navigate without running into anything. As long as he memorized where things were he could walk without assistance. "We don't have a proper mattress. Hope you don't mind."

Vesper watched Eurwen walk away with a hint of uncertainty in her gaze, glad that Radz couldn't see it and the ivy-colored mouse had her back turned. That wasn't exactly the answer she'd been expecting. Cy didn't seem the jealous type? Huh, well... whatever the case, Vesper shrugged it off and turned her attention slowly back to Radz.
"Yeah, yeah... I'll come back again for sure... Least I can do for you fixing me up and crap." He didn't seem to react much to what his sister said, in fact he seemed to shrug it off a lot. For now Vesper would follow suit, if only because she was certain that starting something now would result in her out on the street while she was considerably less than sober. "Doesn't bother me... I've had to sleep on worse." The rat mix shrugged her shoulders slightly, tail curling up into a small arch.

It was as if the little ivy covered mouse was having a battle to end all battles. For a few moments pillows were flying from nowhere and landing in the usual "crash spot" for the pair. Of course the last time they had used it Dad had stayed up the entire night worrying about them. Since then they had been careful about staying up late. She slapped down a few more pillows, of the smaller ones. She made a mental note to burn them after the rat left.
Guh. Lowlanders.
"Here we go!" she finally said standing to the side and motioning to the pile of pillows that were somehow neatly arranged.
Radz gave the rat a smile. "We'll wake you up when we have to leave. I hope you can sleep off most of your... problems. Perhaps you should go easy on the alcohol next time?" Not like she would listen to his advice.

Vesper arched a brow as the pillows came flying in, watching the chaotic flurry that ultimately ended in a rather comfy looking pile of pillows. Well... The rat-dog perked and a rather contented grin broke onto her features.
Way more than she'd expected which was pretty nice.
"Thanks! That's better than I could've asked for." She grinned and flopped down into the pillows, glad to no longer be required to hold herself upright. Definitely nice. Who the hell needed a mattress? Vesper hadn't even expected more than a blanket tossed onto the floor, this was nice. Really nice. "Thanks, both of ya." She rolled lightly onto her side, taking the ease off of her wounded arms as she looked up at Radz. Her smile dimmed a little, but didn't fade entirely. "Y'know, that's what everyone keeps saying..." But would she actually listen? "I'll think about it."
If it was ever worth being sober, she'd give it a shot otherwise she just didn't see the point.

He gave a small grin. Even if she didn't think about it, he supposed it was still a useful suggestion. The mouse eagle gave a small shrug and a bob of his head. He turned in the general direction of where Eurwen was and motioned to leave Vesper to her own devices.
Eurwen didn't protest. She gave a small nod as she scurried past her brother. It was time to focus on the experiments! It was why they were traveling here in the first place. And even if Eurwen was a bit fuzzy on her brother's grand plans, she enjoyed helping.
She just sometimes wished he could do it himself. And she was sure that he felt the same way. Especially when they both managed to fail at proper communication skills.
Morning rolled around fairly quickly. And Radz found himself responsible for waking up their little guest. "Vesper... you need to get going," he said fairly loud. He just hoped that she was sober enough to get home.
