Fetu nodded, leaning forward and dropping to all fours before approaching him. She didn't get too close, not particularly wanting to be in his personal bubble or have him invade her own, but she was back on the road. Her feet told her so, even if she couldn't have seen the line change in the texture of the ground. Most couldn't in this darkness.
"Hopefully it won't take until dawn," she said quietly as they started off. That had been her worry from the beginning, that going from one distance to another in this apparently lifeless landscape would take longer than the night she had available. She'd already been moving for a good few hours. There were probably only three or four left until the sun began its ascent, and she would have to find or make cover when that happened. Or walk blindfolded. Ugh.
Beyond that, she said nothing as they walked. His presence was enough to satisfy the need for company and his silence pleased the loner in her.

It was a nice and silent walk. Something that Conway could easily deal with. He wouldn't have to think of proper things to say, and he wouldn't have to listen to someone go on and on about something he honestly didn't care about. And this way he would actually have company so he wouldn't focus on beating himself up for his own stupidity either.
The walk was long, but they did manage to get to the little town before the sun rose. It would be an hour before it made its way above the horizon. On the bright side, they wouldn't have a hard time finding someone. It was a small little settlement, but from the looks of it there was someone busy at work as they were approaching.
It was still strange being in this realm. Conway still felt out of place.... if he had a symbol on his chest it would have been different. He remained silent and glanced at Fetu, hoping that she would say something before he had to.
(( OOC: <3 hope you don't mind. ))

As the false dawn began to weigh on Fetu's mind, she became a more nervous traveler, which betrayed itself in her walk and stance. She could only hope that the village would be very close. Explaining precisely why she had to stop and blindfold herself would be irritating, embarrassing, and yet necessary under the circumstances.
Thankfully, that was not the case. She breathed a quiet but audible sigh of relief when the distant outline of the town began to resolve itself. Many settlements in the Wastes were part village and part nomadic trade centers, where some of the local tribes who relied more on their tents and freedom than on permanent structures could find necessary goods that they were unable to make for themselves. She'd noted the phenomenon during her last two visits and thought it quite interesting. What made one Hisstor decide to stay put and gave another the itch to roam the realm? Was it just which group you were born to, or married into, or something else? Even around people who looked like her, she felt like an outsider simply from her lack of knowledge and cultural understanding. It peeved her.
She noticed Conway's glance and looked back, blinking dark eyes once before looking away from him. "My priority right now is shelter. I need somewhere to stay during the daylight hours. If that's what you need, I can ask around for the both of us. If not, I'll just say goodbye." She'd gotten much better at asking people if she could stay in their homes during her years on the road, and a lot of Hisstor villages didn't seem to have 'inns' so much as people who took in travelers.

Going days without sleep would be useful. Unfortunately he was at a disadvantage not being a Club. And he was already beaten up rather badly considering his hand, so he might as well rest for a while so Javaid wouldn't.... be as upset.
Plus he wasn't looking forward to that. And what would George say if he saw him? Or June? His sister wouldn't just be upset, she'd probably scold him. He abruptly stopped that downward spiral to actually answer the chipmunk.
"I probably shouldn't push on, all things considered. And thank you. I'm clearly not that skilled at asking people for help." He gave her a rather pitiful look before he glanced upwards. Taking notice of the few people who seemed to be awake. The hair on his back of his neck was standing, as he tried to remain calm. It was fine. Everything would be fine.

Fetu gave the human a brief, searching look, though it probably seemed very strange coming from pure black eyes. He was even more of a recluse than she was. The antisocial behavior without a fondness for company? Probably. Or just a lack of socialization. She suffered from that as well, though she'd been slogging her way through it during her travels.
Probably easiest and less embarrassing not to acknowledge it. "Very well, I'll seek out lodgings for two. Please wait here. I'll return shortly." It wasn't said brusquely, but the words themselves were abrupt. She headed off and began approaching some of the people who were awake at this early hour.
After about twenty minutes, during which she became more and more antsy as the dawn steadily approached, she managed to secure a corner of a building for the two of them. The Hisstor seemed far more inclined to accommodate two of her own region than otherwise, especially as one was a Jack and she'd told him that her companion had his human form. "Respectable" enough in general, whatever their mutations may have been.
She returned to his side on all fours and stood, looking up at him. "We have a room until evening. No food, but you can most likely find someone to purchase from if you get hungry." She still had a few bits of dried fruit and long-lasting bread in her travel pack.

He watched her leave, one of his eyebrows twitching upward. He was now alone standing there rather awkwardly. He glanced at the various people who were milling around early in the morning. Someone of them were staring rather curiously, but no one bothered to approach.
If someone did he would be at a complete and utter loss. At the very least he was comforted that he was nowhere near the place he called home in his childhood. Well... close was a matter of opinion. He was far enough away to be a sure that he would never run into his Uncle. Who, for all he knew, could be dead, but he was never brave enough to find out.
His good hand twitched in his pocket, fiddling with his bracelet as he continued to wait for the woman to return. He had to be good and stay here. There was no point in going on if he was going to pass out from exhaust either....
His expression brightened a bit when Fetu returned. Part of him realized it would probably have been more polite to be in his bipedal or animal form. However with his hand the way it was... and if he was in his animal form his bracelet already put a limit on how he moved. Human form was the safest anyway. "All right," he said quietly, "Thank you very much." Going without food wasn't a problem.

Waiting just a moment to see if he would offer anything else, Fetu nodded and turned in the direction the woman had indicated. She would be waiting for them near the door.
Inside. They would be inside. She needed to get in before the sun rose or it would be miserable trying to find her way blind, with her eyes squeezed tightly shut. Already the faint lightness to the sky was uncomfortable, bordering on something that would cause a headache a little while down the road. Ugh.
She found the woman with little trouble, indicated her traveling companion as obvious in his human form, and then scurried inside. She could be more polite after she was safe and in a windowless corner with her head low and her back to the light. Maybe her thin blanket covering her like a tablecloth or a shroud. Yes, that was a good idea. She could sleep more easily like that.
Unless something unusual occurred to disturb her, that would be exactly what she did for several hours.

Conway followed closely behind the girl. He made no comment when they reached the woman, only giving a slight bow of his head. He wasn't about to test fate again. Who knew if he could actually talk to more than one person. Everyone had been able to hear him screaming in the shop, that was for sure, but maybe it was only a temporary thing.
He didn't want to think about it right now. Conway went to sleep propped against the wall, sitting up with his hands still stuffed in his pockets. The light was dim as the blinds were drawn closed thanks to the host. He didn't move form his spot for hours, and when he woke up he was stiff as a board.
It took a few moments of him cracking his joints to be in order. Their kind host slipped into the room with a small candle. So it was actually dark outside? Conway reluctantly stood and gave the woman thanks, wondering if the chipmunk was awake or not by now.

Fetu had trouble remembering whether she'd always been a light sleeper or if her time on the road had slowly influenced that. She usually couldn't afford to sleep too heavily when she didn't have a solid roof over her head or she just couldn't trust her surroundings. There were a million and one places to sleep and most of them were dangerous if you didn't have to pay for them, which she often couldn't afford.
She got a better sleep than she'd expected, the man sharing this room either a quiet sleeper or a quiet sitter, and the woman returning to their room with a light brought her to awareness. Blinking once and regretting it, she snapped her eyes shut and refrained from whimpering. It had just been unexpected. It wasn't that bad. She said that in her head a few times before slitting her dark eyes the barest amount and squinting away from the candle.
Standing up slowly, she stretched her limbs and glanced around. The human was already awake and up. She approached him and the host, murmuring another set of thanks before turning to him. "I think I'm going to stay in this town for a few days and try to sell some of my jewelry. If you're staying, I can try to find us another place to sleep. If you aren't, this is probably goodbye."

She made jewelry? Conway couldn't help but tilt his head curiously at the thought. She didn't seem the type, but he wasn't the best judge of character he supposed.
It looked like they would be parting ways then. It was a nice chance meeting, but he should keep moving. Javaid would be waiting for him, and he still had a long way to go. And he still had to figure out how to break the news. He could probably make it to the next town over before the sun came up.
Complications were a bother.
"I need to keep moving," he said quietly. "Thank you though. It was nice meeting you." It was brief but there was a small smile on his face before he turned to the host. He gave another brief thank you to the woman after asking her if there was a quicker way to the next town over.
There wasn't. It would be a long trip.
At least part of it hadn't been lonely.
