Not only was Mirriam too unaware to really realize Othello would have trouble telling what breed or region she was, but none of that stuff had ever really mattered to her, so why should it matter to other people? She was still learning about all the regions and what was cool about each one. Her trips to the Capital helped out in that regard, she'd found, since there were such interesting Cards here from all over! Someday, when she was older, she might even get to see some of them! First, of course, she'd go back to Avington...but that was all a ways off in the future, since for now she was far too young to think of such a journey by herself.
"I bet you'd be good at thinking type games," Mirriam said kindly. "You seem really smart!" Of course, most people older than her did, and she seemed to have a mistaken connection between 'nice' and 'smart' in her young mind, but she still meant what she said sincerely. But of course she'd rather play Superheros and Villains, since it was more exciting.
"Well, it's easy! First you gotta pick a superpower, like super-strength or super-speed or being really good at making cookies. Then, we find a good spot to be the villain's fortress..." She glanced around the park, and her eyes fell on a playset. "Like...that! Well, uh, I guess you might not be able to see it, but it's one of those things you can climb on and it's sort of like a fancy treehouse but on the ground." They hadn't had them in Avington, or at least not her neck of it. "And then we invade the hideout and rout the bad guys out of hiding, and kick their tails!" She grinned hopefully. Would he really play it with her?

Othello was good at mental processes, when it came down to it. But that was only really because he had to memorize things to understand them. From Math to History he had to memorize it to "get things right." Dealing with an Esterberry tutor had been one of the most painful experiences in his life, but at least it gave him a slight advantage?
Not like it showed. He normally panicked before he had a chance to spew information he learned. He figured that Mirriam meant something else entirely, because "smart" wasn't a word people normally used to describe him.
He tilted his head as he listened to her explain the rules. Pick a power, find a hide out, kick tail. Okay. That sounded easy. And then he gave her a confused look when she said "like that." Her description sounded like... well he had no idea. He'd never been near a playset before.
"Okay, tho I can pick any power, like having the ability to thee into the future. I'm only a little confuthed over the... fancy treehouse thing. What'th a tree house?"

"Yeah, yeah you could pick that. That's a cool power!" Mirriam fluttered around Othello's head excitedly. "If you could see into the future, you can stop the bad guys from doing their bad stuff before they do it, because you see what's gonna happen and prevent it! Then if that doesn't work you can time travel." She had read a book recently about a Corvie who built a time machine, and used it to go back in time and prevent the Queen of Hearts from dying and stuff. It was pretty cool, though a bit above her reading level really, so she hadn't understood all of it. Like the fact that the whole point of the book had been why time travel was dangerous, and not why it was 'cool'.
"Also you can tell what special defenses the base has, like a vaporizing laser gun with heat seeking missiles!" She paused in her spiel as he asked a question. "Well...it's like a house, but it's in a tree! And it only has one room, and you have to get up to it by this rope ladder or by flying, and there's sometimes a tire swing, and if you're really good you get to spend the night in the tree house and look out at the stars and listen to the sounds of the forest!" She grinned at him, hoping that this all made sense.

He was getting more confused by the minute. As she continued on her verbal rant the boy was left staring blankly in the general area of where he heard the girl's voice. At least he picked a cool power, that was something he managed to grasp from her rant.
But her explanation of a tree house didn't make much sense to him. Why would someone want to make a room on top of a tree? And how could someone like him climb up a rope ladder? And what was a tire swing? With a knitted brow he shook his head. "I don't get it. The tree houthe doethn't make thenthe." He tilted his head and looked around. All he saw was an empty garden.
"And how ith the thing different than a tree houthe if a tree houthe is jutht a one room house in a tree?"

"Well..." Mirriam blinked. How was she going to explain this? "It's just fun to be high up sometimes, I guess. And this is different because it's not actually in a tree, it's on the ground. But it has one of those things you slide down, and some stairs, and those metal bars that you're supposed to swing on, and stuff like that." Her ears drooped a bit. Explaining stuff to a blind kid was more difficult then it sounded. "But it doesn't matter what it is, the point is that we're going to -pretend- it's the enemy's secret base. Okay?"
She smiled at him hopefully again. If he didn't understand still, she'd suggest something else for them to play, she supposed. Which would be a pity. "I'm gonna be the one with super ice fireball powers, so I can toast and freeze the bad guys all at the same time!" She was mainly thinking aloud as she said this, and she absently rubbed at the metal flower on her ear. This was going to be great!

Okay. He sort of got it. Maybe. It made a little sense. The cat-coyote hesitated for a moment before giving the girl a smile. It looked a little silly with his buck teeth they way they were, but it was still a cheerful smile and an indication that he sort of understood what she was trying to describe.
"Okay, I guessth it makes thenthe." He said as his tail flopped in a half wag. He was never really good at the wagging thing. He stood up as he listened to her rant about her own powers. That... didn't make much sense... but he wasn't about to say that out loud. He had already been confused in a knot, and he didn't want to try and get into a miniature tizzy again.
"Tho lead the way to the evil villain'th base commander!" he said with a note of confidence.

At his smile, Mirriam perked up. That looked like a smile of understanding! So they could play her favorite game! With a happy little squeak, the bat flew up to give a little lick to Othello's head, before turning to fly toward the tree house. Then she paused. Maybe...maybe he'd be able to follow her a bit better if she was on the ground? Since he might be able to hear her awkward walking through the grass better than the near-silent flutter of bat wings.
"All right, this way Othello!" she cried, trying to stealthily waddle through the grass. "Wait! First...look over near the base and tell me what you see, so we'll know what their defenses are with your power!" She leaned in close to him to add in a stage whisper for his benefit, "Just make something up, it doesn't matter if you can really see it or not." She grinned, tail wiggling. This was fun already! If only they had someone to play the bad guy, too, that would make it even better!

He jumped in surprised when she licked him. He blushed a bit with the surprise as he craned his head to listen to the neck directions.
He could hear faint whispers of things that weren't there. He brushed them off as the girl spoke. His ears flicking forward as he tried to hear her walk. There she was! He trotted forward, and them abruptly stopped, nearly running into her.
Right! Power! "Uhhh..." he said as he looked in the general direction of the playset. Which he could conveniently see now, though it looked a little dilapidated. "There are two guardth on either thide of the entrance that patrol regularly. That'th it! They won't thee uth coming."
Hopefully that was good enough? It would give Mirriam a chance to to use her powers. And he was sure she would come up with something fantastic while playing the game. She seemed the type who had a good imagination.

"Right! I'll scout them out, then, and take them out! Then we move in!" Mirriam began enthusiastically moving once more, trying to be stealthy but at the same time making sure she didn't lose Othello. Of course, she had no way to know that he could now actually see what they were heading towards, since she still thought he was just completely blind. Her ears were perked forward, straining as if to hear the faintest whisper that would betray the guards. When they got close enough, she darted behind a pole.
"Wait there for a moment, Othello!" she whispered. "I need to make sure I can take them both out before they sound the alarm!" She also made a motion at him, not quite remembering in her excitement that he wouldn't see it. She was far too caught up in the game by now. She looked over at the fortress, easily able to imagine it being made of stone, to hear the footsteps tromping heavily around it...Her eyes widened and she turned back to whisper harshly, "They're huge and furry! Solandrians. They're almost in range..." Waiting...waiting...now!
With a cry, she darted forward, wing claw outstretched as she sent fireballs and shards of frost at her foes. "Yes! Hit! Take this!" She fluttered around excitedly, making more motions, fighting invisible foes, and she dive bombed suddenly, letting out a cry before landing on one of the monkey bars. "Okay! Time to move in Othello! They have wounded me, but it is not mortal! We must press on for the good of all Card-kind!" She just hoped that the guards weren't actually dead either, as she could tell from their eyes they were being controlled, and their own actions were not their own!

Othello had no idea what was going on. Not in the slightest. He could see nothing but an empty court yard, but could hear Mirriam as clear as a bell. It was always a strange experience when it came to playing that he ran into. So he had no idea to move forward when she signaled.
The cry made him jump, skittering backward and falling on his rump. The fur along his back stood on end as he struggled to regain a sense of where the bat actually was. It was a difficult task to accomplish, but he managed to smooth his fur and right his disorientation.
He hesitated for a moment when he stood back up. Was he walking the right way? Would she correct him before he walked into something? It was just a risk he had to take. "All right! We jutht need to be careful!" he said as he trotted forward, "There are more ahead."
