Mirriam failed to notice that her playmate had stumbled a bit at her loud cry, because she was too involved with the game. Since it was so rare she'd play this with other people, it was very easy for her to forget about the fact that there was someone else there, especially someone blind. She nodded vigorously at his words, ears perked, straining for any sign of the other guards. A few flaps of her wings, silent and deadly, and she was on the roof of the small play structure. "Okay! Now we just have to..." The bat broke off as a turn to look at her companion showed her he was going the wrong direction.
With a small squeak she dove, landing beside him and gently nosing him the right way. "No, it's this way, Othello! Come on, we need to hurry!" Keeping close to him this time, she tried to get them both towards the short stairs that led them up to the play house. That, of course, was the center of the fortress and the place they would find their enemy! Hopefully, they would catch him unawares.
"The alarm had not been sounded yet, so we're good so far, but who knows when?..." With a gasp, Mirriam drew up straight, one wing-claw resting on Othello's neck to tell him to stop as well. "Hold on, there's another one! A big scary Mid-Ranger! Lemme just..." She prepared to shoot another frost and fire combo off, when something...odd happened. The bat blinked brown eyes in confusion as suddenly, all the flowers and bushes around her seemed to...move. Not in the normal way that plants move, with the wind, but on their own. She'd read a comic book like that once, she thought!
"Othello, the plants are attacking us now! Like, for real actually!" Her eyes were wide as she watched a bush uproot itself and...and...lift up the trash can she'd knocked over? "No...wait. They're not attacking..." Now that hadn't happened in the comic book. Flowers were suddenly picking up pieces of trash and throwing them back into the can, blades of grass were helping to pass them along, and she rubbed her eyes to see if this was some very odd dream.
"Othello...I think the park is...cleaning itself."
Flower Ability: Once a week she is able to cause vegetation around her in a ten foot radius to uproot itself and shamble about for a full 5 minutes. This array of plants can carry up to 50lbs, tangle up limbs, or surprise someone by latching onto their face from above, though it will not kill. The vegetation becomes normal again after 5 minutes and is rendered harmless. It is easily destroyed, but can be quite the nuisance while around.
((ooc: he's going to be so confused, gah. XD;; ))

The canine mix was happy to be ushered in the proper direction by the girl. It was better than running into something. He still felt a little embarrassed, but the motions were enough to get him going in the proper direction.
He stopped when she touched his neck lightly.
And then things just got confused. "Huh?" he said as he craned his head towards the bat. How could flowers be attacking them. His ears panned around as he heard the rustling.
Something weird was going on, and he had no idea how to react at all.
He jumped when he heard the sound of the trashcan. What was going on? He couldn't hear people! He could only hear bushes rustling and things like that. So was Mirriam telling the truth about the plants... cleaning up the park? A worried whine bubbled up as he moved closer to the girl. What was going on?
(( OOC: XD; no kidding. He's about to burst into tears. ))

The game was completely forgotten as Mirriam watched in awe. She'd never imagined something like this before! Not that she'd never imagined plants coming to life, because she had...but they actually seemed to be friendly. Maybe it was because they were flowers? Her ears were perked forward as she stared, watching as the park got cleaned up by its vegetation. Not only the things she'd accidentally spilled when she knocked over the trash can, but other litter as well that hadn't quite made it in the first place. She had to wonder if...she had caused them to do this? If so, that was super cool! She wondered if any of the adults back at the palace would ever believe her when she told them about this.
A small whine beside her recalled her to the fact that Othello was there and...couldn't see any of what was going on. She felt more sorry for him than she had before...after all, this was really cool! And here no one else could see it but her! "Don't worry, Othello, it's okay!" she crooned, wrapping a wing protectively around the mix. "They're not gonna hurt us, I know it." She smiled at him and nuzzled him again. "They're bein' helpful, and I think..." she paused as a thought came to her, and her free wing claw moved to touch the flower on her ear. "...I think I can control them, anyway..."

The boy was still a beautiful shade of confused as the girl comforted him. All he could hear was the plants moving and things being put into the trash can every now and then. What was actually going on? Things just didn't spring to life!
He made another concerned whimper. He wasn't particular sure how long he wanted to stick around if things continued like this. Where was Xander? Where was someone else to confirm that the plants were actually moving?
His ears perked and he tilted his head at her comment. She was controlling them? "How can you make plantth move?" Othello asked. It was obvious that she hadn't always had the power if it was her doing at all. His tail twitched at the thought. Flowers? Moving on their own?
Hadn't she found something earlier that as a flower? Could that be the cause of this weird?
He shrugged the idea off. It was possible, sure, but he knew nothing about magical objects. For all he knew it could be something else entirely.

Mirriam could tell that...Othello was upset, confused, and...possibly didn't believe her. The thought sent her ears back and her big brown eyes scrunched a bit with sadness. If someone who was -here- didn't believe her...than how was she ever going to explain this to anybody back home? They wouldn't have believed the Jubjub story if she didn't have the scar to prove it and if Mr. Merlin hadn't spoken directly to the Palace officials. She slumped a bit, and Othello might notice her grip going slack.
She perked only slightly at his question. "Well, I think..." She glanced around, and then leaned in close to whisper, like it was a secret. "Remember the flower thing I found earlier? I think it's enchanted. I think it's what's letting me do this..." She also felt a strange urgency, like it was all going to end soon...though she didn't know it, it had been about four and a half minutes since she had unwittingly activated her new ability. She found herself wishing that Othello's brother would return soon, too, if only so someone else besides her could actually -see- this...because she wasn't sure if it was a one-time thing or if she'd be able to do it again. And she already had one secret she couldn't talk to anyone about. She didn't want to add another one!

"Oh," Othello said blinking a few extra times. "I guesth that maketh thenthe." It was still hard to believe that the flowers were getting up on their own. Then again he had seen people without faces, people sticking to the ceiling and climbing into mirrors, his brother was an unbelievable spectacle himself, so really he didn't disbelief the occurrence as much as he could. He was just a little surprised. Xander had finished chatting and finally acquiring the tea his mother liked. And rather than sit and wait forever for Othello he decided to slip out of the establishment and check up on him. He was stealthily making his way to the little park. And when he reached the door he promptly dropped the bag filled with tea tins to stare. It wasn't every day you saw something like that move on it's own. The cat didn't make a sound as he slowly grabbed the tea he had just dropped and and backed away. He would come back in a few moments after deciding if he was hallucinating or not.

Mirriam was watching Othello's face carefully for his reaction. She couldn't have even explained -why- it was so important that the little mix would understand her, just that she really -needed- him to. He seemed a little confused, still, but his hopeful, tentative agreement had Mirriam smiling in relief, tense stance relaxing slightly. Her wing wrapped around him again as she made a small, squeaky affectionate noise. Her other wing claw was still absently running over the edges of the flower in her ear. Now she found it even stranger that someone would just throw it out, if it was magical on top of everything else! Maybe some people were just afraid of magic? Maybe after using a certain number of times the plants would turn on their former master and drain the life out of them? Sobering thoughts, and Mirriam shook her head before her imagination got -too- out of control.
"Well, it's never happened before now, and I've never had the flower before now. The last few times I was at this park, the plants stayed where they were," the Bat explained further, and then, she thought she heard a slight sound...like something being dropped? But when she turned slightly in the direction she thought it was in, nothing and no one was there. Though her ears strained for further sounds, she heard nothing, and a light sigh escaped, before it was followed up with a gasp.
The plants had suddenly...frozen in place. They were back to looking like normal vegetation, roots having stuck back into the ground. The Bat felt a little sad at this, and tried to summon up the concentration she'd had before to see if they'd come back to life, but no such luck. Maybe it really had been just a one-time thing. "They're just plants again, now, Othello," she said, a hint of sadness at the edge of her words. Though he would also have been able to tell, since the odd rustling sounds of the flowers and grass and bushes moving around would have ceased.

When the flowers had stopped moving, Othello's ears stood to attention. It was very odd for all the sounds to stop at once, and he frantically looked from side to side. The bat's hug had at least given him a little bit of reassurance, and still did slightly.
But this was really strange. And he really wished he could see what reality was instead of the vision of a clam and clean park. A small sigh escaped him. "That'th a really cool power," he stated as his tail uncurled from his body.
Xander finally peered around the corner, the bag of tea hanging over his head thanks to his lovely set of hands. The boy's tail was fluffed up out of site as he assessed the situation. Weird. Just plain weird.
"Is everything... all right here?" he asked coming into full view. Who was the little girl with his brother anyway?

Mirriam continued to stare at the plants that had, moments ago, been moving around and picking up trash. They were so still now, and when she thought she saw one twitch, her heart leapt, before she realized it was just a puff of wind. She turned, blinking at Othello as he spoke, brown eyes troubled. At least...he believed her now. "Thanks! I wonder..." She paused, about to say 'if I can use it again', but something had just occurred to her. Being a Diamond, most of her abilities were ones she could turn off and on at will, but most powers were more...limited. So perhaps it was not so much a matter of it, as it was...
"When I can use it again," she finished the thought, a smile lighting up her young face. It was at that moment that there was a flash of yellow in the corners of her vision, but she didn't turn around until a new voice spoke. Her large ears swiveled towards the odd-looking cat as she turned to peer at him. Well, she'd never seen a bright yellow Card before that wasn't Yarrow, and he didn't appear to have anything in common with the Yarrow King she'd met before. "Yep, things are all fine!" she replied, noticing he had an extra pair of hands coming out of his back. That was pretty dang nifty! It didn't immediately occur to her that this might be Othello's brother, since he didn't look anything like the other Card. She moved a little towards him curiously.

Othello perked as soon as he heard his brother's voice. Plant trouble and playing long forgotten he turned to actually walk in the boy's direction. He was fairly certain that Mirriam was going to investigate anyway.
The bright yellow cat was slightly relieved. And his brother seemed just fine. Whatever that had been it had been brief. And perhaps it was some sort of attraction or something? The little bat girl hardly seemed phased by whatever it was.
"That'th my brother, Xander, and I guesth thith meanth he'th finished getting tea for Mom," Othello announced as he slowly felt his way forward. He didn't want to run into anything, but it was a lot harder to feel your way around when you didn't have a wall to lean on, or anything for that matter. Being out in the open was a pain sometimes.
Xander bowed his head, "It's nice to meet you Miss--"
"Mirriam."
"Mirriam. I was wondering if I could collect my brother... but you two seemed to be having quite a bit of fun earlier. Do you come here often?"
