A Bad Day [Fin]

Upon entering the inside of the cafe was neatly decorated in a style that vaguely mimicked the popular Highland style. Everything was neatly arranged on each of the tables, including small vases filled with freshly cut flowers. There wasn't a single spot of dirt to be seen in the place.

There were various well dressed and groomed people throughout the cafe. Behind the counter was a rather interesting mix of Highlander Corvistowneian--which probably explained the horrible exterior compared to the interior. The mixed region perked up when he saw the pair of people walk through the door.

Harold took the table closest to the door for the sake of his arms. He carefully set them down so he wouldn't knock over the delicate little vase. To his surprise, before he could say anything the owner of the small cafe had already crossed the shop to greet them.

"It's a pleasure to see you on this fine day! I'm assuming you'll have your usual?" said the mix region cheerfully as his eyes drifted to the feline. His already wide smile brightened. "Perhaps you're the fabled girlfriend that our nameless patron mentions every once and a while?"

Harold shook his head. "No, no, she's just an associate. And yes... I would like my usual."

The man looked vaguely disappointed before returning to his cheerful self. "Would you like a menu madam?"

Lariel had to nearly do a double take once she entered the cafe. Immediately she caught the pleasant aroma of fresh flowers she could see sitting on every table. Everything seemed to be in pristine condition and the Bobcat actually turned her head to look outside, just to make sure they'd entered the right building. Quite a few patrons were stashed inside, she saw, and had to purposefully will her eyebrows to come down from her forehead.

Lariel had opened her mouth to say something when a Mix approached the two of them. She couldn't help but wonder if the Card had to take some sort of pharmaceuticals in order to be that perky and cheery. Anyone who worked in the customer service business should be allowed free usage of illegal substances.

"No menu needed. I'll just take coffee, black. Thank you."

The Bobcat moved her body closer to the table. "Mind taking your books from my back? They're starting to get a little heavy."

The mix region grinned. "All right then! Easy orders! I'll be back in a jiffy!" He hurried off back behind the counter, leaving the two to fend for themselves for a short while.

Harold had no idea how someone could be so happy all the time. He watched the man leave and turned back to the feline when she spoke. Right. Books. Look at him being horribly rude. "Oh yes! My apologies," he said as he hastily took the books off the feline's back ad set them next to his already large stack.

He pulled back the other seat for the feline with a smile before he took his own seat. He honestly didn't have time to say anything when the waiter reappeared.

The mix region set down the large cup of black coffee in front of the feline and a smaller cup of coffee that looked akin to tar in front of the Esterberry. "If you two need anything else, just let me know."

Harold nodded as he took a sip of his viscous coffee and seemed to wince. He still continued to take a long sip before setting the coffee down.
