Mm, so he was a politics man, huh? Now Anya was definitely intrigued. She liked the business men with their money and level heads but there was something about the nobles that really made her motor purr.
"O! So that's definitely more than just a fancy letter." Anya leaned in a little, eying the smooth black K once more. "How is it," she pondered, curiosity obvious, "working with that Yarrow mix? Are you Her Majesty, Donalda's King?"
Admittedly Anya hadn't paid much attention to the politics in the Court of Spades. She was a Diamond, after all, and she only really needed to pay attention to the going-ons of her suit and maybe The Court of Hearts due, simply, to their proximity to her home. Regardless of how much she paid attention, however, there was no ignoring that the change of power in the Court of Spades had been sudden, violent, and impossible to ignore.
On the bright side, this definitely said a lot about Zane.

He blushed at the complimented, and he was more than ready for the comment that came next. How many people in his own family had asked that? He shifted, a smile still on his beak.
"It's certainly always an interesting job. I work as an accountant there, so I mostly deal with the treasury rather than other politicians." He shrugged. "You wouldn't believe how many people don't want the job. It might be demanding but it's certainly worth while. And it also makes for good conversation when I'm trying to impress someone such as yourself. I wouldn't expect you to want anything less than royalty."
And hopefully he was doing just that. The waiter returned with their drinks, and darted off yet again. They still had plenty of time to speak with each other. It had been a while since he had played such a wonderful game with someone else. Highlanders were always the best and hardest to impress.

Anya liked the hint of blush beneath his soft pale feathers. She'd caught him off guard with that one apparently, and she liked that. Not to mention he was damnably cute when he blushed. It made the quetzal almost begin to wonder what he'd do if she had run her fingers through his feathers in order to trace that sharp black ranking.
"An accountant! I bet you've got a real sharp wit to handle all those numbers, the Court must be a mess right now!" He looked smart. Smart and powerful and important. Mmm, even if he hadn't been trying Anya was definitely impressed. The Highlander leaned back in her chair, peering at him through half-lidded golden eyes as she looked Zane over once more.
What a handsome gentleman, and oohh he knew what a girl really wanted. He didn't seem to mind the idea of sharing it with her either, and Anya enjoyed luxury a great deal.
"Well, Zane, I've got to say you've done a splendid job impressing me. You're quite the charmer and you're a well-to-do noble, not hard on the eyes either." Anya winked and her small smile grew a bit more obvious. "I can't believe you haven't been snatched up sooner."

He laughed, grinning like an idiot. This was quite the charming lady he had found at random. And she was rather good at playing this flattery game. Today was turning out to be a fantastic day.
"It was quite the mess, but with a little hard work I managed to straighten things out so it's more manageable." He shrugged. "Of course that's been consuming me for quite some time so I haven't really had much time to myself. You know, it's hard to be on the market when you're such a nice guy you shove yourself in a closet to do work for hours on end."
He wouldn't be shocked if he needed reading glasses in his later years with how much he worked in a dimly lit room crunching numbers. "Though in the end it's a good thing. After all if I wasn't available I wouldn't be having this wonderful conversation with you."

What wonderful accidents arose out of a simple walk through the City! Anya would have to do it more... and, hopefully, she would stumble over this handsome gentleman over and over again. Then again, she could just arrange to meet up with him again. That would be much more simple than hoping for chance to secure her a place with him.
"Closets?" Anya tsked her tongue playfully against her beak. "Nice guys shouldn't be locked in closets, though I suppose they're the most prone to it, aren't they?" The quetzal leaned on a hand, propped up with an elbow on the table. "I'm afraid I have to agree... if it wasn't for that closet, I might not have had this wonderful opportunity."
Anya would just have to make sure he didn't lock himself in there too much now that she had achieved meeting him. She so liked to be the center of attention, after all.

"Well, on the bright side I won't have to worry about it for a long while. Everything is in order and I have plenty of free time to spare," He would have continued if it weren't for the interruption of the waiter yet again. The food was placed in front of them and the man asked the usual questions before dismissing himself.
They were left with their meals, and freshly poured drinks. He raised the glass, "I think we should make a little toast. For fortunate and wonderfully divine meetings."
Raising his glass he then took a long sip. Honestly he wasn't in the mood for food. He just wanted to talk and possibly run off with the woman. But it would be more fun, he was sure of it, if he drew things out. A Highlander. He wouldn't get a chance like this in a long while, he was sure of it.

Anya was terribly charmed, and to think he was a Spade without any of the natural Diamond charm to add to his appeal. He had skill, Anya liked that. The quetzal smiled politely as the waiter returned, she'd almost forgotten that they were there for food at all but now that it was there she wished the waiter to leave as quickly as possible.
Perhaps after a bit to eat they could go find that quiet place together...
When the waiter was gone and Zane lifted his glass for a toast, Anya cheerfully followed suit. "For fortunate and wonderfully divine meetings," Anya echoed as she clinked her glass delicately against his. "I couldn't have said it better myself." She sipped at her drink briefly before aiming to sample the food available.
He had great taste all around, now if only she could think of something other than dragging him back to her place -- or his -- to find out what else he was terribly good at.

He couldn't help but continue to grin all throughout the meal. It was a wonderful selection, even if he failed to focus on exactly what he was eating. None of it really mattered when he was focusing on the Highlander in front of him.
When he finished the last bit of his meal, he found himself running a finger along the rim of his glass. Alone time. That's what they both wanted, he was sure of it. The bill came fairly quickly, everything was paid for, and they were left alone, for the most part. Zane's people watching had certainly become Anya watching.
"So is it too forward to ask if you would like to spend the rest of the evening in my company? I wouldn't want to bore you to death since someone as pretty as you must have plans for tonight." He gave her a cordial smile.

Not only was Zane lovely company, but he also had a wonderful taste for restaurants. He also paid copious amounts of attention to her and that, above all else, was quite drawing to the Highlander. She loved to be swooned over, to be doted on.
She would have to have Zane take her out again.
When at last the food was gone, Anya was left watching Zane play with the rim of his empty glass as she waited for the offer she hoped she'd get. Come on, handsome, take me home... It came quickly, which pleased her, and she leaned in a little closer as he played their little game.
"For you," Anya cooed, "my evening is entirely open. I'd love to see what else you have to offer for me. If I recall correctly, I think there was mention of some solitude in which to get to better know each other?"

"Oh yes there was," he said with a smirk. If it was possible he would have purred. It wasn't every day he got to take a pretty Highlander home. And she was quite the catch. "You have a choice, my dear. We can go back to my apartment which is a good fifteen minute walk from here. Or we could have a little adventure and I can take you to a friend's place which is a five minute from here. He said he would be out of town for a few days... but with him it's a guessing game."
Risk. Maybe that would make things a bit more exciting. And she would get to see the well mannered banders that Ez owned. Of course, hopefully they wouldn't be a distraction. He tried not to give a wicked smirk at the thought of what they could do, and the Anya's nails....
He eagerly awaited her response.
