He couldn't help it, but he laughed softly as she said that she was found often in trouble, sometimes digging the... hole herself, he nodded his head lightly and then tilted it "Indeed." He spoke, voice still soft I had found myself more often than not in such situations. He gave her a soft smile, finally relaxing in her presence and took a bigger gulp of the beverage, looking in it he noticed that it was nearly empty, a frown pulled his lips down, before it straightened again. His ears perking back up for sounds.
He chuckled softly yet again and grinned wider "I'd be delighted if you where willing to share a story with me!" He nearly cried out, eyes gleaming with said delight. He leaned forwards, nearly letting the cup fall down from the table in his haste. His eyes widened and he catched it quickly, not too much spilled and he sighed softly in relief "Indeed I know what it is like." He murmured, more to himself than to her. He snorted at himself, just as softly and looked back up to meet her eyes, silently questioning.
It wasn't that he was wanting to do something bad, hey. He started to like her in a good friendly way, but he wouldn't just do... things. He scratched his head once more and let out a soft sigh before leaning back as he tried to stop the light bouncing that he was in.

A story it was then. A story. What should she tell him? She leaned back a bit in the chair and stared at the sky briefly.
How about an adventure story?
Adventure. Worth a shot. "You wouldn't suspect heroic deeds from certain regions, however from the region of Midori came a brightly colored bird. No one knows what he ultimately was, but he seemed to be a mix of heron and peacock. His feathers were so brilliant than everyone from the city stopped to look at him. He came there to make a name for himself. He didn't want to be just another pretty face, and he didn't want to join the world of politics.
He became a detective. He practically solved cases while sleeping. And then something happened... a mother came to him crying. She said she had lost her baby while she was near the Wood. No one there would help her, and she feared her child was dead. He went though..."
She paused. Hoping this would interest him.

It did interest him indeed. He leaned forward, green eyes widening with interest "Oh?" He questioned, a silent urging for her to continue, if she wanted. He was maybe more like a child in this way, but he truly enjoyed those stories at times. He drank more of the mug, even not noticing that it was empty. His eyes still focused on her. His claws released the mug and played with the silky hair on his arms, his free one almost tapping on the table as he, unbelievable enough, waited patiently for her to continue.
He didn't mind what sort of story it was, just that it was one. He noticed almost absently that his mind kept turning circles around itself and forced it to straighten. His eyes finally blinked and he seemed to look at her again and not through her, although the change in outward appearance was almost minimal, he had perfected the art of doing that without anyone noticing. It wasn't that he found her boring, but sometimes his mind just consumed him with every thought that it could throw at him and then he ignored, unwillingly, the person he was speaking to.

A smirk weaseled its way onto her face. Just what she wanted. He was hanging on every word. "The Wood has always been a dangerous place. To this day Outsiders should never venture into its depths. You see the monsters that lurk there are beyond anything anyone can imagine. And the Midori detective didn't heed the warning that many of his peers gave him...."
Leaning forward Rosemary gave a wicked grin. "He should have listened to them. Once he enter the Wood he came across a rather frightening resident. Of course he didn't think she was frightening at first. The woman had a long flowing mane, a beautiful finger, and wings that seemed to shimmer in the dim light of the trees. She seemed to be a wolf, but she must have been a mix to have wings like that.... either way he was blown away by her beauty and her seemingly kind actions.
Of course. Not all is what it appears to be. He asked about the missing child, and she said she would be more than happy to lead him there. Of course he was hardly prepared for what happened next..."

He saw the smirk, but didn't bother responding to it. His eyes widening as she started to speak, the occasional gasp and other sounds escaping him at the right times as he followed her story, tail moving quickly from side to side. He already could envision himself in the detective's place, what could have happened. He almost couldn't control the groan from escaping as she stopped, she wanted to see his reaction! He realized, turning his eyes back on her and whistled lowly "It must have been very bad.." He said softly, before blushing and looking down again, acting as if he didn't interrupt her from telling her story.
He was interested, very much so, but he rather listened in silence than to comment and make the other person stop out of annoyance, but this story was too intriguing to keep silent, at least, keep silent for long.
He was also interested in her facial expressions. She was a good story-teller, he wasn't an expert in it or something, but she was really getting into the story as well -so he thought, nonetheless- and he gave a small smile to encourage her to continue "What happened?" He asked after a bit of silence in a curious tone, his clawed digits intertwining in front of him, elbows leaning on the table as he leaned forward, his head falling slightly to the side as he blinked quickly after each other for a moment. He half knew what could come already, but he banned those thoughts out of his head hurriedly, not wanting to 'ruin' the 'surprise' if it should come. The slight slender digits on his paws tightened their grip for a moment, before going slack again in a comfortable resting position.

Of course her thoughts went to a dark place. Maybe she should have told a story with a happy ending?
Psh.
"Outsiders were never trusted in the Wood," she said leaning forward a wicked smile on her face. "So why would a Tulgey help an outsider? The beautiful woman was nothing more than a devious siren. She led him back to her house, and there she wined and dined him. He asked about the lost child several times, and the woman said not to worry, she would show him where she was. When the came closer he grew more panicked, he didn't want to stay the night here. Not in the cursed place. But the woman soothed his nerves and led him to the basement."
Rosemary pulled back, her tail curling around her. "The child was there. Chained to the wall. The man was utterly horrified, and when he went to free her, the devious woman took advantage of the opening. BAM. He was cracked across the head. The man feel to the floor, unconscious and bleeding... but that wasn't the only thing the woman had in store for him."

He still leaned forward, engrossed in her story. He almost knew that it couldn't end happily, of course he had heard the stories that circulated around the woods. It was rather true, he never finished them, but a friend of him had, never to return. He had to lean back slightly as she leaned forward though, the sudden closeness uncomfortable to him.
His eyes widened "Oh no.." He whispered. His claws where digging into the wood by now as he listened. Her story had ensnared his entire being in her grasp. It looked as if he where under influence of a drug or alcohol.
He shifted his weight slightly, feeling suddenly the package on his back and nearly jumped into the sky. He didn't want to interrupt her, but he also wished it wouldn't stretch out too long. He had to bring it to his costumer. He settled down soon enough however, he would shove it aside. The person Hadn't said when she expected the deliveries so he could listen patiently for a while yet. He leaned back once more and half-closed his eyes, giving her once more his full attention.

She gave a rather rather devious chuckle at his jump. Oh this was wonderful. Her tail uncurled as she leaned forward over the table, her glass between her paws. "The woman who looked so angelic was a firm believer that all Outsiders should be taken care of in a horrible fashion. Broken and turned into nothing more than toys--and if they wouldn't break they would be killed. Of course that was a merciful thing to do considering."
A sigh escaped her. "This story doesn't have a happy ending. The man, the poor man, was put out of his misery and the child was left to be forgotten. The great detective's body was returned to it's proper place outside the Wood as a warning to all those who entered. Worse still... would you believe the poor man was set up? You see the mother knew full well that her child would never be saved, and she was sent to him so he could fail in his mission." She raised an eyebrow, "But his revenge from beyond the grave is another story entirely."

He blushed lightly as she chuckled and looked away, seeming uncomfortable that he allowed himself such an reaction to a story like that. Still an interesting story, darn it. He couldn't help himself. He had received a new cup of coffee and just like her it was between his paws, letting the warmth warm his seemingly chilled paws. A small chill running over his spine as his ears where pressed flatly against his skull. He had to nod his head in agreement "A merciful thing indeed." He agreed with her, nodding his head lightly.
He raised his eyebrow, in surprise and something else, a bit of disgust. He of course knew the horrors, he would be foolish if he didn't, but that they could be that cruel. He felt a small smile creep over his lips and he shook his head again "Ah, revenge.." He muttered "He would have believed in the saying off 'revenge is best served cold', hmm.." His head fell back slightly as he watched the ceiling "I wonder though what he did and how they know what he did.." His brow tugged down into a frown as he pondered the question he somewhat said out loud.

Rosemary laughed at his comment about "severed cold revenge." Oh that was rich. This guy had a great sense of humor. She lapped her her drink after she caught her breath.
"You're a real keeper," She said with a snort. "If you want to hear the rest of the story I might be putting on a performance near the library around here. I've got the permission they have yet to give me a proper date though."
The wolf mix gave a small shrug as she lapped up her drink, finishing it off fairly quickly. Drink and food. Nice and refreshing. And maybe she had her muse back now that she had told a little story. Forge nudged her mentally in mild amusement. She would have rolled her eyes if she wasn't focusing on the vermin in front of her.
"Maybe you should get back to delivering your package? I've distracted you for long enough."
