It would be impossible for Donnie to visit the Capital for a few days and not take a tour of its music stores. She had one more night in her nice, squishy hotel bed before she was heading out for the Court of Spades and she decided to be a silly tourist for the rest of the day. This was the third store she'd visited and probably the largest, its walls, floorspace, and even ceiling covered in instruments and music paraphernalia. Only some of the stores in the Villa could rival this place in selection, which she found pretty impressive. A lot of the traveling musicians probably stopped here. She'd been chatting up the desk clerk for the little while, a thankfully female Villa-Sorgaire mix, and decided to test the feel of a harp that had been catching her eye. It wasn't nearly as grand or attractive as her own instrument, but it was much smaller and more compact. The sound quality wouldn't have the same resonance, obviously, but it would certainly be easier to carry certain places if it sounded at least decent. Curiously, she ran her hands over the strings and then started on a few scales, getting a feel for the spacing and tension of the instrument.

There were few things as much fun as spending some time in a music store. Kamaria paused just inside the door to take a deep breath and pull in the scent of music and creativity. This was a side of her that was reserved almost solely for her times with her youngest sister. The smell of strings, drum skins, the sounds of reverent chatter and the unmistakably hesitant notes of people testing instruments. She loved the music stores and this one, the largest one in the city, was her favourite. "Hurry it up, Tra," she called imperiously over her shoulder as she trotted regally into the store and took a moment to inspect her domain. Her ears twitched, drawn to the confident sound of scales on harp strings. She turned to follow the sound and let her dainty paws quickly close the distance so she could listen.

Pleased with the performance of the instrument, if not especially thrilled with the quality of the sound, Donnie moved from scales into a short, liquid-sounding melody that she'd learned during her school days in the Villa. It was simple but used all of the strings on the harp at one point or another in the song and was ideal if you had to get the feel of a new instrument. She ignored the presence of other people around her while her fingers moved, going so far as to half-lid her eyes.
When she'd finished, she let the small instrument rest on her lap and stared at it contemplatively. She really hadn't come in here to buy anything, and the prices in all of the city stores were more than she'd been expecting, but it would be awfully nice to have a more portable instrument for casual travel. She was fine with lugging her large, beautiful harp around, but this would be far easier in some instances.
White and purple caught her eye as it moved, not far from her, and she looked up into the face of an absolutely lovely young thing. Villa for sure, and unmistakably Highland as well. What a mix. "Hello...?" she inquired with a touch of curiosity. Obviously she was the focus of the child's attention.

Elektra trudged dutifully behind her sister. When Kamaria had decided their plans for the day and declared that they were going to go out and visit a music store, Elektra had been super pleased and with a quick dance that had ended with her tripping over her own feet she had followed her sister out of the house. Swinging her head back and forth, from side to side, as she trotted happily she entered the store after her sister. Upon entering the store she promptly became distracted by a display of instruments that hung on one of the walls. Skipping over to them she titled her head as she contemplated the strange instruments. From looking at them she could gather that they were instruments that were blown to produce sound but the likes of which she had never seen. After a fail attempt at reading the display sign for them, she called over her shoulder without looking in a conversational tone, "Kama, what are these?"

Sadly for Elektra, Kami was long gone from the display at the entrance. She tilted her head at the woman, her youngest sister gone from her mind for now as well.
Oh, yes, she had the woman's attention now that the lovely melody of the song was gone. It had been an okay piece, but not really something that Kamaria preferred; it sounded far too much like one of those practice songs to make you learn all the notes or something.
"Hi. You're pretty good." The words were blunt, the tone matter-of-fact. "You must practice a lot." It might be evident already that tact wasn't necessarily the Highlander mix's strong point. It rarely occurred to her that she should be polite; more often than not, her mouth tended to just run away with her. It hadn't caused her any serious trouble yet, though, and so no life lessons had convinced her to hold her tongue.

The young girl's words were complimentary, even if the tone seemed off for an introduction. A brief glance down at the girl's rank revealed an Eight, which wasn't bad, and a Spade, which was better. Huh. Not even a name? Usually younger people seemed more than happy to blurt them out in an introduction. Maybe city folk were more guarded?
She leaned over the instrument and met the girl's purple-eyed gaze. "Thank you, and I do. Nothing special in this piece, though. Why? Do you play yourself? Or do you have a request?" The Villa side of her was promising, especially since she looked to be about half of each region. "I'm willing to exchange a song for a name, if I know it."
The brightly colored Morganberry child hadn't caught her attention at first, but she glanced over at the sound of a voice, small ears twitching. Her eyes narrowed in slight confusion when she saw something on the colorful back, and then widened when it started to look like a... keyboard? What was wrong with the creature?

"I don't play the harp," the two-tailed fox replied lightly. "I play my sister." Those words certainly didn't make sense at first, though it might be easy for the woman to make the connection once she saw the Morganberry by the door.
The white and purple head tilted sideways thoughtfully at the deal offered. This woman was good enough that she wouldn't mind hearing another song, and her name was hardly a high cost. "I'm Kamaria," she stated firmly with the tiniest bob of her head as though reassuring the Villa adult that she was speaking the truth. "Do you know anything by Handel?" She turned to glance when the wolverine did and saw that Elektra hadn't made it past the door.
Oy, she was so retarded sometimes. "Elektra, get over here," she commanded. "Are you trying to get stolen again?" The look she sent her youngest sister was meant to quail her into obedience.

Not hearing her sister answer her, the fox had titled her head backward in search of her sister. Quickly becoming dizzy from her head being at such an odd angle she had turned around with a small jump.
She was not here! Had her sister left her again? The day that she had lost her sister in the Bazaar had been one of the scariest of her life. Her sister could not have left her again!
Frightened she started to frantically search for her sister in the shop, bumping into a few more stands and even a few fellow customers in her process. Finally spotting her sister she started to call out, "Kama - " when she spotted that her sister was standing near a scary person.
Not sure what to do with the situation, did her sister need saving, she hunched down. Making her way slowly over to her sister, her tail tucked between her legs and her ears down, she was nervous beyond belief.
Hearing her sister's comment toward her she plopped her butt down on the ground. "Elektra is doing no such thing!" She replied defiantly. The quick change in mood however was changed when coming to her sister's side she hid behind the colorful fox and whispered. "Kama, what are you doing?"

The pretty half-Villa child's odd words made sense as soon as Donnie's brain made the connection. She played her sister. That would have made no sense whatsoever if she hadn't just caught sight of the Morganberry. Did she just have incredibly cruel parents, or had... she somehow been born that way? The wolverine guessed the former and winced slightly.
"Kamaria... I'm Donnie. Good to meet you and your... sister." That really was the strangest thing to get over. She couldn't stop staring. Which, now that she thought about it, probably wasn't helping the little thing with its confidence issues. With a tucked tail and flat ears, she looked pretty frightened. Maybe having a keyboard sticking out of your back did that for you.
"I learned some of Handel's music in school," she threw out in an absent tone of voice. Her fingers picked out a few strains from one piece before she had to stop, brow furrowed. "But really, what... what happened here? To your sister, I mean."

Kamaria gave a swift nod at Donnie's introduction, though her attention was, as usual, divided by her sister's whining. She gave a low sigh and fixed the Morganberry with another warning stare; Elektra had better not
"I'm trying to listen to the music, Tra, and you should, too. Now shush!" She turned expectantly back to the woman at the harp, but Donnie got just a few bars in before she stopped again. It was a real shame, actually. The wolverine was proving herself to be quite talented and Kami just loved good music.
Kamaria tilted her head and turned to eye Elektra curiously. "Uhm. She's always been that way. She's a Morganberry." She gave the region a very distinct emphasis. It really was a shame, but there truly wasn't anything they could do about it. In her own way, Elektra really was charming, too, so it was best just to overlook her obvious flaws.
