Neil's pleasure decreased a bit at the mention of the doctor, but he liked the idea of hearing about Theo's family and that made the prospect a little better. Not to mention if Theofilus trusted this doctor then Neil felt he could to, he'd taken such good care of him so far...
"Mhm, I'm ready!" Neil chimed as the male returned to the room, hopping up to hurry to his side.
Already his tail was wagging again, his head too full of thoughts about family to worry about doctors. He bet Theo had a nice family and lots of friends and that they were all beautiful people just like him. For a moment he found himself worrying if he'd be an embarrassment to Theo, as he had been to his mothers, but he quickly shook the thought off. He had a job now and if he had a job then he could finally make something of himself.
"What's it like having a family, Theofilus? I barely remember mine, they didn't keep me around long... Mom really hated boys..." He wrinkled his nose, still staring up at Theo with wide curious eyes.

Theofilus shook his head. It was a shame really that he didn't know what family was like, and he wasn't sure how to explain a family either. The sparrow ushered him out of the door, locking it behind him. The walk to the doctor wouldn't be that far, and he wouldn't refuse them.
"Well, It's a hard thing to explain. A family is filled with people who care about you no matter what. They're willing to support you... and well I don't really know what else to say. When you meet them you'll know." He said with a nod as he led the boy down the street.
It was a fifteen minute walk to the doctor's office. Theofilus filled the walk with conversation about each member of his family, extended or otherwise. He stopped when they reached the door and he walked the boy inside.
It was a small office, a young secretary looked up from the files. "Oh! Your Majesty! What on earth are you doing here?" She said standing up to greet him.
He waved a hand. "I'm here for a walk in appointment, I want to see if Dr. Raymound can take a look at my friend here."
The woman nodded with a smile at the brightly colored young man before hurrying off into the back.

Neil listened with rapt attention, eyes glued to Theofilus as he followed the man like a loyal puppy. Family... From what he'd heard so far, he loved the very thought of it and wanted more than ever to meet the people this man called his family.
His tail wagged gleefully and, with each member Theofilus spoke of, Neil filed away a name and a mental image of each. They weren't exactly his family, but Theo spoke so fondly of them that Neil wanted to know them. If he couldn't have people like that, then he could at least watch others enjoy it.
Arriving at the clinic, Neil's tail stopped waging and his ears drooped a little. He really didn't like this place, you couldn't trust what most people would try and do to you... A shudder rushed up his spine and the canine glanced fretfully at Theofilus...until the secretary spoke up. Neil's expression changed from quiet nervousness to absolute shock. He didn't follow politics, he didn't know the names or the faces of the men and women within the Courts... He hadn't even contemplated Theo's RANK.
He nodded stiffly to the woman and, once she'd hurried off, looked up at Theofilus once more. "Y-Your ...Majesty?" That couldn't be right...could it? Why would A Queen... or even The Queen be so kind to him? Nothing more than a dingy, dirt-covered fox in an alley. The man had even cut his hair and made him food... It didn't make sense. The higher-ups were usually the ones that treated him the very worst...

Theofilus had never mentioned his rank to the young fox did he? It wasn't quite on purpose, really. He gave Neil a smiled before actually speaking. "Sorry I didn't mention it before. I'm not all that Queen like on my days off."
He was half joking of course. Patting the boy on the back he continued to keep a smile on his face. The nurse walked out with a small clipboard in hand. "The doctor can see you now, please follow me uh... will you be coming with him, Your Majesty?"
"Yes, if it's not too much trouble."
"None at all!" The woman said cheerfully as she led the pair into one of the waiting rooms. It would be a few minutes before the doctor actually showed up, so they had a bit of time to talk. If not, at least Niel would have a bit of time to recover from the shock.

Neil was still absolutely speechless.
Theo seemed so...relaxed. He didn't appear to mind that the fox had been utterly unaware of his rank or title or...well, Court politics in general. That was mildly reassuring and slowly brought the wag back to his tail, but he still felt foolishly undereducated.
What if he'd insulted him without knowing? It would've been awful.
By the time he'd seated himself in the waiting room, Neil had gotten his thoughts back into working order. Theo wasn't upset and...well, something had quite suddenly realized something. "Does this mean...that I'm going to be working for you, Mr. Theofilus?!" Or... O! Should he be calling him 'Your Majesty' or things like that? His ears lowered down a little, full of uncertainty. "S-Should I be calling you 'Your Majesty' o-or something like that?"
He looked up, perking his ears up as well. He really didn't want to screw this up! It was the best opportunity he'd ever gotten before.

Theofilus chuckled. "You don't have to call me your Majesty. You can consider yourself part of the family, and you only have to call me by a title in a situation that deems it absolutely necessary. I highly doubt we'll run into something like that for a long while, so don't worry about it." The sparrow waved a hand dismissively.
The doctor enter the room with a flourish of good cheer. "Hullo! How are we doing today?" He asked with a tilt of his head and a smile on his feline face. His ears twitched back briefly as he looked from the Queen to the Yarrow mix. This was an interesting development. The doctor flipped through his chart briefly to find the boy's name. "Neil... you're here for a check-up. From what I can tell you have absolutely no medical records. At least not with me, but if Theofilus is involved I imagine this is like the situation so many years ago."
"It is, I'm afraid. So you'll have to give him a bit more than a check-up."
"Well that's not a problem! So, Neil, if you don't mind I'll start with taking your temperature and go from there," the doctor gave him another smile as he pulled a small container from his coat pocket.

Neils' ears were perked up as high as they could go, his tail wagging with quiet excitement. Part of the family?! Did he actually have a family now too??? He didn't believe it, it was just...too good to be true. Far too good to be true. "Thank you, Theofilus!"
And then the doctor entered the room and Neil's ears briefly fell against his head as his nerves caught again.
Oh lord, he'd nearly forgotten! For a second he trembled and looked between Theofilus and the doctor before quietly his shoulders slumped and he relented. "N-No, I don't mind." Slowly he turned his gaze up to Theo again, his voice quiet and nervously meek but still full of curiosity as he spoke, "What was the case from before? ...I-If you don't mind my asking that is...?"
The little fox had tucked his tail up against him, his ears still low but perking up once more as he tightened his focus on Theo. He wouldn't think about the doctor in the room with him, he'd just let the man work and hope everything was over with quickly.

Theofilus gave Neil a small smile. "I have an adopted son, Eilwyn, who had been in the Lowlands for an extend period of time. He was in pretty awful shape when I brought him back to the capital city. It took a long while for him to recover, but thanks to Dr. Raymound he had a speedier recovery than anyone could have imagined." Of course, Dr. Raymound hadn't been able to diagnose the problem with Eilwyn's eyes, but all that didn't exactly matter now.
The doctor went about his business as Theofilus distracted the boy. It would be easier to get things done while he was distracted. He managed to get the boy's temperature, blood pressure and even a quick blood sample.
The doctor perked up with a smile, "So, Neil, I need to ask you a few questions about your health. Typical doctor stuff. You need to answer truthfully so I can help you if you have any problems."
He proceeded to ask various questions about diet and other extremely personal things. Typical doctor stuff like he had said.

Neil, as always, hung on every word out of Theofilus's mouth. His eyes were bright and curious and...determined not to acknowledge he was being poked and prodded and other such uncomfortable things. "Oh? He's better now though? Will I meet him?"
When the doctor spoke to him, his ears tipped back against his skull a little. Typical doctor stuff? Answer truthfully? He shrunk down a little, trying to scoot closer to Theofilus...and then slowly nodded.
"K-Kay." The questions made him squirm. He hated admitted he lived in boxes for the majority of his life, and that his diet consisted mostly of stale bread, garbage pickings, and the things he stole from fruit stands. He felt like a lowly Ace, and the way he hunched himself and stared at his feet or over-groomed his tail made it all the more obvious.
When Dr. Raymound was done questioning him, Neil sighed a little and tucked his knees up against his chest. He set his chin on his knees, quietly hoping they'd be done now.
