Darcy couldn’t help but think that he might’ve let his anger once again get the better of him. It was difficult being the only Spade in a litter of Diamonds, a situation made all the worse because of his ridiculous facial hair he had yet to grow into and his oh-so-average rank. His littermates, by comparison, were two beautiful Villa girls, one an Eight and the other a Nine, and they were quickly becoming the pride of the family. The mixed breed, however, did possess one trait they did not: exposed bone strung with his own hair. It was peculiar, to be sure, but he could already see a future as a talented musician ahead of him, and what true Villa could hope for more? Even so, that didn’t mean he was always able to rein in his temper. He and his siblings were constantly getting into fights, the both of them teaming up against him. Of course, once their parents became aware of the squabble he’d immediately be punished. Take now, for instance; not only had his viola – the current love of his life – been taken away from him, he had also been advised by his lovely, lovely father to go get some fresh air. He had been quite insistent. That had been a few hours ago and now here he was, wandering through the Capital City, weaving through the numerous crates, barrels, and boxes filled to the brim with goods ranging from homemade soap to intricately crafted jewelry. Every so often he’d catch a few Cards looking at his tail, which, because it was so heavy, was hard to keep up and constantly knocked against the concrete. In reply, he smiled winningly and continued to slink through the bazaar with his head held high; despite the problems he commonly had with his family he was not ashamed with what he was. How could he be? Darcy knew it was just a matter of time before he mastered his gift and showed his family how lucky they were to have him around.

Home was boring, that was all that was presently running through the mixed regions mind. his siblings were no fun, mama wasn't any better; he had no interest in plants after all, and that left him with no one to talk to. Thankfully though, his mother and siblings lived in the capitol and that gave him lots and lots of potential new friends to pester.... er ...entertain. Yes, that was the word he was looking for. He all but danced down the sidewalk, a goofy grin resting on his muzzle, tail held high and swaying back and forth as he walked. It was utterly and completely wonderful to feel the sunlight soaking into the parts of his coat that weren't already heated by his wings of flame and bone. He still wondered why the bone never seemed to burn but.... it was a passing thought every time, especially when he came across someone interesting looking. And wow, he'd never seen a Villa up close before! And this one seemed all alone in the big bad city and... lonely.... didn't he look lonely to? But of course he did! With this mission of mercy in mind he picked up the pace and made a dash for the interesting boy he'd found only ot get tangled up in his own limbs again and face plant right before his target. His bushy tail continued to wag cheerfully as he peered up at the spade from the street, an even goofier grin on his face as his words came out in a babbled rush. Hi there! I'm Casanova, who're you? Isn't it just an absolutely wonderful day? I've never seen you around here before, are you new? wow your colors are pretty, my sister would be jealous!

“You want flowers? A handsome youngin’ like yourself…you must want something nice, eh?” A vendor approached the mixed breed, a basket of lilies and posies wrapped around her arm. Darcy’s light blue eyes scanned the flowers, wrinkled his nose, and quickly walked past her. He was the characteristic Villa in that he was drawn to beauty like moth to a flame, and very critical of things – or people, for that matter – that didn’t meet his lofty expectations. His taste was too refined to waste on a wilted flower arrangement.
The mixed breed moved liked water through the collection of booths and kiosks, never giving the wares a second glance. He was becoming increasingly disappointed with this so-called capitol; there was no elegance here. As often as he found his home suffocating and frustrating, at least the scenery could take your breath away.
He was in the midst of thinking where else he could go to satisfy his aspirations when, all of a sudden, he found what appeared to be a flaming dog at his feet, a foolish grin plastered wide across his face. Darcy jumped back, his tail flicking back and forth in agitation. He didn’t like being caught off guard.
But he didn’t stay that way for long; no, he was a Villa, and as his mother told him constantly, charm was all he had. So he sauntered forward, all that was winsome and sly, and tried to understand the incoherent babble. “Casanova, is it? I’m Darcy, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” The Spade wasn’t a canine but there was a noticeable purr to his voice, and he looked especially satisfied with the dog’s compliment. His vanity was sometimes so easy to appease.
“Your wings are quite enchanting, are you able to fly with them?” He asked, only now taking in the Club at his feet. He had an interesting coloring, but did he have Lowland blood in him? That was a pity.

That fluffy wolf tail of his started to wag with even more excitement as the canine-esque Villa approached once again and even talked to him! This proved it; he had been lonely and in need of Nova's special brand of companionship! He just loved it when he was right about things like this. And then the focus shifted to his wings and his grin broadened, he loved his wings.
I can't get exceptionally high or far.... but I can!
He adjusted his body so that he was no longer in an ungraceful heap just.... looked like he'd flopped down on the ground now. He stretched out his wings and wiggled them a bit, little licks of flame coming off and disappearing into thin air. Fire was ... so very cool.
And that's when he caught sight of that nifty looking tail. His head tilted to the side and both red lined ears flipped fully forward with interest.
What can you do with that?

The Villa sat on the sidewalk after scanning it for puddles or grit, his strange tail curled around his body. One would’ve thought he was royalty the way he held himself, his every movement calculated and graceful. Wouldn’t mother be so very proud of the way he was carrying himself? Darcy chuckled to himself at the thought; that was unlikely.
Color him green, but he wished for a moment that he had wings – not made of fire, obviously – but maybe an angelic pair, feathery and white. But no…they’d be completely unpractical. His tail would probably be too heavy to lift off the ground.
Ah, that was better. Darcy always enjoyed talking about himself, especially when the topic could be related to music. “It acts a bow when I play the viola,” he explained proudly. Never mind he hadn’t completely harnessed the skill yet, he didn’t doubt his abilities. “Villas very often have little traits such as these, to help with our musical development. It’s rather heavy though,” he added as an afterthought, looking again at the canine’s flaming appendages. No, he wouldn’t like firey wings at all…

He listened, tail waving cheerfully behind him the entire time and a look of understanding on his face, well... until he realized he had no idea what the villa was talking about. This realization turned into a slow head tilt as the other boy continued on, his mind not grasping the fact that the other boy was, very likely, talking down to him. His tail stopped moving for a moment or two as he let the boy finish up before he spoke. Mama always got mad when he interrupted after all.... well, as mad as mama ever got. The rat-eagle just got more... flustered then angry.
What's a... viola?
Music was something that he really didn't know a whole lot about. Plants and flowers he could rattle off a few surprising facts about because of mama, some weird things about mushrooms from his brother and some other... interesting topics from papa but, really... music only came up occasionally. Normally he and Anatolius just rough housed er... 'trained' when they were together so he was curious. And, with this curiosity, that tail of his started ot wag again.

For a moment Darcy drew back; he was always affronted when someone knew so little about music, especially when it concerned his instrument. He was a vain creature but in reality had very little to be proud of, save his growing talent as a musician.
“How could you have never of it? They’re amazing instruments. Do you know of violins at the very least?” He asked, a sneer twitching across his face. “It’s similar in build, only larger - and its sound!” If Darcy had been any less dignified, he would have wiggled with delight. “It’s rich and haunted and dark…” Meaningless words; they couldn’t compare to the awe-inspiring beauty of it. His sneer grew into a small, loving smile for a moment before flicking back to his usual courtier appearance.
“I hope to perform at Court once I complete my studies.” And rank up, of course. He was only a Six, hardly adequate for an aspiring musician. “And what about you?” He asked imperiously. “What exactly do you do?”

He continued to listen before laughing softly in a mildly awkward manner. honestly, he had no idea what a violin was off the top of his head. He might recognize one if he was shown but, well .... not at this present point in time.
I might ... I just don't know them by name.
Oh, but now the mix, he was pretty certain the boy was a mixed breed anyhow, was asking about him and that brought that broad, chipper smile back to his face. He pulled himself up into a sitting position and puffed out his chest to show off ever so slightly. He may have been born a five, the lowest of his siblings, but his ambitions had already gotten him up to being a ten.
I help my papa out in the Court of Clubs.
His tail started to wave faster behind him, he liked to be able to say that even if 'help' wasn't exactly the proper word half the time. Anatolius was a good sport about the whole thing and gave him some things to do.
I'm just here now visiting mama and my siblings.
Really, he preferred his father's company but he did start to miss the rest of his family ... even Vesper. Of course... he'd never tell her that, just as she'd never say she didn't really hate him. At least.... he figured she didn't actually hate him, he really didn't think he'd given his sister a reason to..

Darcy’s tail flicked against the ground in frustration. His mother hadn’t been exaggerating when she claimed that outside of Villa en Miir – with the exception of the Highlands – there was a complete lack of culture. This was why he couldn’t wait to find a position at Court, to escape this terrifying plague of ignorance.
“That’s too bad.” It was all he was able to manage. How dense this pup was! He imagined his facial expression adequately conveyed this.
His mouth twitched. Clubs. He knew well enough that Spades and Clubs didn’t fall far from the same tree – his siblings made to tell him that over and over again – but still…he had never met a Club he could respect.
It occurred to him that because his parents were Diamonds he would never be able to visit them at their Court. “What is it like there?” He asked, his curiosity piqued, though he couldn’t believe the palace was as beautiful as the Court of Diamonds, or even that of Spades.
ooc: I just realized how...not good this is. ^^;; I'm sorry!

His tail started to wag a bit more when the strange boy asked about the court, it was, honestly, his favorite place to be and the people there were far more interesting then even here in the capitol. Then again, there were more people here in the capitol and he did like people ..... he'd had to ponder this in more detail later, if he remembered of course. It wasn't exactly difficult to distract this particular little wolf. It's rather nice, and so are all the people. Well, most of them .... then again everywhere you go there's bound to be someone that's stuffy, yeah? There's even a garden! And that got his fluffy, flame colored appendage wagging at an even faster pace ... and that's when he got an idea. Hey Darcy .... wanna play? He looked up at him with a hopeful expression before hsi red lined ears flipped back as another voice sounded up behind him, still rather soft.... but just enough for them to hear the words, and the slightly chastising, parental tone behind them. Nova ... not everyone wants to play with you. The odd looking boy, larger then his brother, edged in slowly .... talons clicking on the cobblestones. He was nervous, made obvious by his slightly twitching tail. the way he hugged his feathery white wings to his sides and the position of his little ears ... but he felt compelled to try and save this stranger from his brother's idiocy.
