Darcy nodded inattentively to the pup’s ramblings. Casanova was evidently a creature easily pleased – but then, that wasn’t so surprising. He was a Club and a Lowlander mix at that, no wonder he was a simpleton.
Hm…that wasn’t quite fair. Oh well.
Wait a minute. He didn’t really expect for Darcy to play with him, right? The mixed breed wasn’t that type of child and hadn’t been for quite some time. 'Romping,' or whatever the kids were calling these days, was just too inane an activity for him. Color him prudish, but that was the truth. And that was very hard to come by in the boy.
Ah, but here came the cavalry! Darcy turned his head to face his rescuer, only to come face to face with…a full-blown Lowlander. The Spade felt his lips curl back into a snarl, but with a rough shake of his head he composed himself. It was two against one after all.
“I take it you know each other?” He asked, arching his brow. Maybe they were related in some way? “I’m Darcy. Nice to meet you,” he added as an afterthought. “I was about to explain to Casanova that I suffer from asthma, so any roughhousing is out of the question I’m afraid,” the Villa explained airily.
