[[ Go ahead and toss in whomever begs to reply most m'dear <3]] The olive chipmunk finally had a day off... and fully intended to enjoy it as well. He didn't mind taking extra shifts from other guards when they needed a day off, he loved his job after all, he just ... needed a break every now and again and the rose gardens were calling him. He'd been here awhile but suits ... the roses still fascinated him, there weren't many, if any, back home in the marsh and on his trips home he found himself missing their delightful aroma. He could still remember when the scent of them was almost too much for him, but it was calming now a days ... although he still itched for duties he'd had at home. No lowlanders entered the court after all ... not that he knew of. He made his way casually down one of the paths, scanning the various bushes he passed before pausing before one that had grabbed his attention. There was one specific rose that stuck out from all the others and he couldn't resist the urge to stop and sniff it, closing his eyes to fully enjoy it and tuning out the rest of the world for the time being. Besides ... it had just been him and the roses ... hadn't it?

Abruptly and oddly, the rose abruptly sneezed at him. From within the rose bush, a hint of white surrounded bright red eyes that were currently blinking swiftly in an attempt to stop another sneeze from escaping. Another head popped up at the first sound, white ears tilting quickly towards the sound. The golden beak gaped suddenly open in a bright smile. "Aha, did you find him?"The woman trotted over on taloned feet to lean over the chipmunk, one hand resting on his shoulder so she could peer at the bush curiously. An angry snort sounded from within the bush and the white swiftly retreated. Drostan inched his way back from the edges of the bush to the area where the bipedal woman wouldn't be able to easily reach him. His mistress was an idiot.

The sneeze caught him completely off guard and he hopped back a bit, arching his little banded tail over his back and puffing up his fur as he did. Really, who expected a rose to ... sneeze at you? Then again he'd never had a chance before now to enjoy the gardens but he'd never heard any rumors about something silly like talking, or sneezing, roses. But there were ... eyes? He blinked a few times in rapid succession before a voice came to his little notched ears.
He turned his head to peer over, and up, to the owner of the voice before turning his attention back to the rose bush. Him? So whatever was in there was male then ... alright .... so, card or bander?
I think so ... if he has red eyes? What is it?
He tilted his head to the side ever so slightly, twitching his little nose to try and get a whiff. All he could smell were roses and the woman standing next to him though ... so it wasn't really helpful in the end.

"That is my Drostan," the woman answered almost pertly. "And he's a very bad boy." Despite her light-hearted tone, real worry flared in her golden eyes. "Can you reach him?" She seemed to take it for granted that the other Heart would aid her. After all, she was a King and gorgeous. Who wouldn't want to help her in retrieving her pet?
Beneath the bushes and still out of sight, Drostan gave an angry sounding growl, and this was quickly followed by the an icy cold chill that would cause those around him to shiver despite themselves. This, of course, only happened when he was angry, and, further of course, the Ace was, indeed, exceedingly angry.
"I'm not coming back out there, woman," he snarled at his mistress, for all the good it would do. Dre was patently oblivous to his ability to talk.

Well, that certainly didn't help him decide what exactly a Drostan was, and neither did the growling. The sudden shiver of cold that ran down his spine did nothing to help the situation and he fur re-bristled along the chill's course. Well he certainly hadn't heard of any banders that could do that so ... a card? An Ace possibly? And it talked so that narrowed it down to an Ace ... or a child, but he leaned more toward the Ace idea after a second glance at the women, she didn't look like she'd had any children.
Possibly ... I could try at the very least.
He wasn't going to help her because she was pretty, or a King, he was going to aid her because she had asked and that was just the way he was. He approached the bush and looked for a decent place to scoot his little body under the bush part way in search of this ... Drostan.

Dre was quite happy about this, and let the smaller man head into the brush without her. Her tail flicked briefly, and she stepped back a little way to give him space as well as to try and watch his endeavours. Despite knowing she was a gorgeous King of Hearts, the woman would have been down on her hands and knees (again) trying to locate the Ace and get him back into her care.
A striped Josiggy began to wiggle his way under the rose bushes and Drostan was a bit surprised to note that he had slightly more mass than the newcomer. Blast it, that meant whoever this particular Heart was would be able to get after him faster than he could get away. He raised his hackles as well as he could, the sight a bit strange with the number of scars that covered his body. "Go away," he hissed. "Leave me alone."

His little tail twitched from side to side as he flattened himself out into the dirt and scooted under the thorny branches, a few of said thorns caught his hide but he didn't pay them any notice. The white, scarred form of the of the Ace was far more visible now and he grinned a bit to himself, noting that the Tulgey's bark was probably worse then his bite since he hadn't lashed out immediately ... of course that could also be from some kind of training, he really didn't know much about Aces and Drostan was the first real 'pet' he'd ever encountered.
At the mustelid's word a grin spread over his muzzle and he extended his fangs to their full length, sharp tips exposing themselves just for the Ace.
I'm afraid I can't do that Drostan, not when I just got here .... perhaps you should leave the bushes instead? It's just not a proper hiding spot.
He edged closer, enjoying the rather earthy scent that surrounded him now that he was crawling through the dirt. Ah ... memories.

"It's not just a hiding spot," the grison hissed, backing away just a bit more. He had thorns pressing in from all sides now, but it'd be worth it as long as he didn't have to go back out to his mistress, at least not until she forgot about her current wild and absolutely retarded plan. "It's a way to stay out of range."
The longer fangs sent a tingle of fear down his spine, but, really, death would be preferable to what the woman was planning for him. He bared his own small teeth in answer, feeling horribly inadequate though he was trying desperately to not show it.
Dre's ears were up and she continued to crane her neck, trying to see what was going on under within the rosebushes. "Did you catch him?" she asked brightly.

Out of range of what?
One brow arched as he regarded the mustelid for a moment, completely unphased by the display of fangs. If it had, well ... his parents would have been sorely disappointed in him. however ... he was terribly curious as to what the Ace could possibly be hiding from ... the King didn't seem that bad really, not from what he'd seen.
His ears twitched and focused on Dre's position outside of the bushes and he moved in a bit more, raising his green hackles to make himself look just a touch more intimidating to the grison, raising the volume a bit on his voice to properly communicate with the woman.
He won't come out easily ... but he's here. You might be able to reach him from where you are, actually.
He didn't care if the Tulgey Spade wanted to go back or not, he was property and would be returned to his master either way.

"Are you some kind of idiot?" the Ace snapped flatly. "You have no idea wot she's trying to do to me and you'll just return me with no thought about it whatsoever? You people--" the ironically snarled word was a curse. "Sicken me." His lip curled upwards again to prove his point.
Unfortunately for him, Jarvis chose that moment to give away his position and Dre quickly took advantage of it to scoop the Ace up, pulling him up straight through the roses.
The grison struggled and cursed further, but the avian hybrid wasn't letting him go now that she finally had him back in her grasp.
"Oh, Drostan, thank the Hills!" She tilted her head to smile at the chipmunk through the branches. "Thank you so much for your assistance! Would you care to join me for some tea?"
