It was, per usual, a beautiful day. The silver-haired woman strolled easily down the street, sticking to the fringe of the crowds so they could simply skim by and she could avoid being in anyone's way. The office was closed today and she was looking forward to a chance to simple roam freely about for awhile. Since Asha's birth, things had been different for the Sorgaire Range skunk. Not in big ways, but small ways. She felt.. more confident, more sure of herself. And she was preparing herself for finally getting into the Court of Diamonds, something she'd been planning for quite awhile. She was hopeful for a chance to surprise Theofilus in getting in, and her mind was plotting how she could accomplish that. She tucked her hands behind her and continued her easy pace and observed those around her.

The path she took may have been out of most other's way, but mischief had taken a rather large fondness of just the types of places she'd be passing by. One such place would be an alleyway, a place that Tavor had long since learned to avoid, however, today he'd been pulled in by the tail by a few older boys born with a bipedal form. The had proceeded to degrade him, tease him and even give him a light beating before Tavor lost his temper and gave one of the boys a rather hefty lungful of dust and bit the other, causing the one he bit to squeal and push him head over heels out into the street. He tucked his wings and rolled once before landing in an ungraceful heap on the walkway. The boys took off, coughing and cursing as they did, little heathens. This left Tavor out in the open to collect himself up slowly with a sigh, things would never change, would they? Snow white ears perked as he heard some footsteps and he peered over his shoulder, lacking any real form of energy. He was almost certain it was them, coming for round two with more, but his eyes landed on an adult, and adult with fur that was somewhat similar to his own. He looked hopeful for a moment before mentally chastising himself and mumbling an apology to her.

Kel's mental wandering was interrupted swiftly when a form came tumbling her way. She started at the sight of the child, surprised by his sudden appearance and equally so by the hopeful glance that immediately became crestfallen as he looked away.
The skunk glanced curiously back behind her; had someone else walked up to cause that sort of reaction? No, the crowds had continued onwards, ignoring the potential drama playing out on their doorsteps. She looked back to the child as he mumbled an apology out to her, and even that brought surprise.
"It's no affair," she answered softly. "Are you all right? That was quite the tumble." In fact, it was rather less like a fall and a great deal more like a push. Her rounded ears came up and angled towards the alleyway. She could faintly hear the sound of a small group scurrying away. A small frown tugged at the edges of her lips.

He pulled his wings in and tucked them close to his sides as he sat up a bit and curled his feather tipped tail around himself. His own rounded ears twitched as she spoke and he found himself a little unsure of what to do. He raised his head ever so slightly, just enough to peer up at the skunk, and flipped his ears down and to the side a bit. Well, this time around he didn't hurt to bad and, to his knowledge, he wasn't cut anywhere besides his usual patches on his back and tail... and he had deserved that last little lot of punishment ... he'd bitten one of them after all.
I'm f-fine .... t-thank you.
He peered back down to the side walk once more. He never was very good at lying, but he'd make an attempt so that the woman wouldn't worry herself over him, he wasn't important or anything like that and she looked like the type that had better things to do then make any kind of fuss over a scruffy little kid.
I'm just ... c-clumsy.

Kel frowned again, but she wouldn't correct the boy on such an obvious lie. It must mean that he was either trying to cover for those other children, or, like her, needed to pretend that his life wasn't as jacked up as it truly was. She gave a small sigh and sent him another soft smile. "Well, you don't seem the clumsy type, but we all have accidents sometimes."
She hesitated for a moment. Well, she wasn't doing anything in particular, she might as well follow her instincts. "Perhaps you can repay me, then, for bumping into me." She bent down to smile at him. "The required payment is to come have tea with me. I find myself in need of company today."
She hoped her wording wasn't so vague as to make him think he would be paying; of course she was going to cover their repast.

A bit of color touched his cheeks and made it's way into his ears when she quite obviously caught him in his lie ... at least she didn't make a big deal out of it. It even seemed like she would just let it all go and let him scurry off to hide somewhere once again until she started speaking and he caught that little word that had caused him quite a bit of grief in the past ... how was he going to repay her? He didn't have anything ... well, not on him anyhow. He didn't think she'd want to take his cape anyhow ...
But .... wait .... what?
He peered up at her once more with his head tilted to the side, his expression clearly displaying his complete and total confusion. He registered her new closeness and he shrank down closer to the street. She was being nice so far but people were scary .... especially bipeds. They were so very tall and he was so very tiny.
Tea?

"Definitely tea," she said with a small nod. Concern swam through her pale eyes again when he shrank down away from her. She'd kneeled to help make their sizes the same. She supposed she could switch to animal as well, but if they truly were going to tea she might have need of the prestige associated with bipedal. Lowlanders were not well-liked even in as open-minded city as the Capital.
"Well, then, little one," Kel said softly. "Let's go find a good cafe. I think I know of one just a few blocks from here that has some of the best pastries in this whole area." She tried to send him another reassuring smile, even though he didn't seem willing to really accept it. She would just have to prove her good intentions with her actions. "My name is Kelasia; please feel free to call me Kel. What is your name?"

He relaxed a little when she continued to speak kindly, little white ears slowly creeping forward to better hear her pleasant voice. Women always had such nice voices .... when they weren't yelling at you or chasing you with a broom of course. And, well .... he was officially curious ... he'd never had tea before but he'd heard quite a few people talking about it, or talking about stopping by here or there to get a cup. It had to be something fantastic if so many people liked it.
And now she was ... telling him her name? The feathered tip of his tail curled ever so slightly, maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all .... and she was tempting him with sweets as well? He didn't get those often .... only little pieces that he found in the trash. Well, the ones that weren't covered in some gross mystery goo of course. He gave her a shy little nod .... he'd follow her willingly now.
I'm.... Tavor.

The smile she gave him showed her pleasure and she quickly led the way. She wasn't very good at idle chatter, so she simply hoped that the boy wouldn't be insulted by the fact that she didn't have much to say. Fortunately, it really wasn't far to the cafe and less than fifteen minutes later they were settled down in a table.
The waitress had glanced questioningly at the Lowlander mix, but the high-ranked, bipedal woman's mere presence stopped any questions or hauteur from coming across her face. She quickly put down menus and asked for their drink preferences.
"Well, I do love pepperiment tea. Tavor, what would you like to drink?" The skunk looked expectantly towards the boy and immediately decided that they would need more than just pastries; they would definitely have a full tea with sandwiches as well.

She hadn't told him to get lost, and she was offering him something that sounded tasty, and he was hungry ... but tea would do as well, it was something after all. He wasn't going to just ... skitter off without being told to, even if it would be terribly easy right now. He was thankful for the silence of the walk and he calmed down just a bit more, although he was still feeling rather shy.
He looked down and away when the waitress looked at him, not really wanting to deal with whatever look crossed her face ... the things that were going to come out of her mouth would be bad enough, he knew it. But ... she walked away without a word? He lifted his head and peered at her retreating form with a look that was a splice of curiosity and shock.
His gaze slipped back over to the women and his came almost all the way forward when she spoke, had she done... something to make that lady not say anything? He wasn't entirely certain, but she did seem to have a knack for making the bad things go away, at least for today.
He glanced down at the menu and at the marks he couldn't quite make out ... and didn't really want her to know about that either ... he wasn't proud of the fact that he couldn't decipher what everyone else seemed to.
I'll t-take... whatever... you're... having.
He looked away shyly and curled his tail around his body to rest the feathered tip over his little paws.
