After a long discussion with his parents, whom he still cared for an awful lot and whose opinions meant the most to him, he had decided to find the one named Ophelia. He'd heard of her from some of the more traveled residents of Josiggy and heard her talents were in the realm of serpents, and their features, which had lead him to inspect his fangs a bit more closely and he'd begun to get ideas. Why not take it further? He did have a goal in mind, and if she could help him, wonderful, if not perhaps she had some suggestions of her own that might appeal to the chipmunk? And, after getting lost a dozen times and asking around for her, he finally stumbled upon what was supposed to be her home. He peered at the directions which were scribbled on a piece of paper one more time and rose up onto his hind legs, balling up one of his paws like a fist and tapping on her door. Hopefully he hadn't come to the wrong place. That would be terribly... embarrassing, wouldn't it?

(Just wanted to be sure that you are aware that Ophelia's specialty is Genetics and not specifically Serpents. [snug]) There was something to say about one who managed to actually survive getting lost in Corvistowne or, at very least, to reach one's proper destination in their proper state after doing so. Whether Ophelia would've found this impressive or foolish was hard to tell, but all that really mattered was that Jarvis managed to make it to her small home in the end and that the knock didn't come at as bad a moment as it could have. Ophelia had just finished a mildly heated argument with Mephitisia regarding her most recent experiment and her search for a suiting test subject. No one that Ophelia was going to offer to her, that was for sure. However, with that out of the way, the conversation took a slightly more pleasant turn and by the time Jarvis's knock sounded through the house he had interrupted nothing more than a mild conversation about poison compounds. Ophelia was honestly thankfully to have a distraction arise, Mephit's poison theories were never entirely pleasant despite the fact that they were food for thought. Blame it on the scientist in her. Moving quickly upstairs from the lab, the doe pulled open the door and smiled casually at the chipmunk that greeted her. "Hello, may I help you?"If Jarvis were to look past her, he'd probably catch sight of a pair of intense orange eyes peering at him from the archway that connected the house to the Lab that she and Ophelia had just exited. The owner of the eyes had yet to say anything. She merely watched from afar, wondering who had interrupted her conversation and for what purpose. Mephit wasn't about to stay in Ophelia's company longer than she absolutely had to.

(( I know... but he doesn't X3 ))
Jarvis was, actually, quite nervous, and excited as well... a combination of emotions that had him shaking a bit. He heard footsteps on the other side of the door and swallowed hard, pulling himself together so that when she opened the door he was on his hind limbs and standing rather straight and still for one whom didn't quite posses a bipedal form.
When she opened the door he peered up at her, as she was indeed quite a bit taller then he was, and gave a return smile, his odd little fangs just showing under his elongated lip. He then decided that it would be a very good idea to be as courteous as possible and bowed his head to her before speaking.
I am hoping that you can, Miss Ophelia. I was given a recommendation by a friend of mine who had spent a long while in the city who had heard of you and upon his return he advised me to seek you out for your skills.
His face had a rather hopeful look, especially in his emerald shaded eyes. He so hoped she wouldn't send him off. He was so interested in her, herself that he didn't notice the odd pair of eyes at all.

Ophelia smiled in acknowledgment of the young gentleman trying to stand up proper despite his lack of form and, had she not needed her hands to make her work a bit easier, she would've shifted forms to be more respectful of her customer. Inclining her head as well, she pulled back and opened the door a bit wider.
"Ah, I see! A even greater pleasure then! Do please come in and make yourself at home."
Once she had pulled back out of the way, Jarvis would be able to see the owner of the curious eyes quiet well. Brilliant orange and blazing with a serpentine danger, Mephitisia's eyes boring into his soul would be the first glimpse of the mixed realm doe he would see. A golden band studded with rubies encircled the woman's arm and shined with the perfectly polished look of one who tended their belongings meticulously. She said not a word and moved not a muscle, so still that she could've been a statue. Mephit had come to observe what the disruption was, not interact, and that's exactly what she did. Perhaps a bit too well.
Once Jarvis had stepped inside, Ophelia motioned to the living room where they could sit and discuss business. It was rather cozy, a nice addition that Maxwell had added when he first began working with her, and now rather well lived in due to the children being in the house. As she settled into a seat across from him, Ophelia smiled once more.
"Now tell me, what exactly is it that you need? Considering you're here on recommendation, I'll assume its something genetic; yes?"

When she invited him in his smile broadened, unveiling more of those unusual fangs. He also stepped through the thresh hold and had a surprising amount of balance for a maturely four legged creature balancing on two legs. It was then that he noticed the odd little fawn, identified as a living creature due to the gentle rise and fall of her sides from breathing, and the movements of those eery orange eyes that could be picked up from a moment of examination by the rodent. She was an odd little thing, and her presence gave him and uneasy feeling but he was from a long line of warriors and knew very well to keep such things guarded.
When she spoke again he turned his attention back to Opheilia and settled himself into a seat as well, his expression changing to one of a lighter form of sincerity, as this was business and business was serious.
You see, it involves these.
And with that he lifted a paw, pulling back one of those abnormally long jowls and exposing a fang fully as is slowly extended to it's full length, and then let it go, getting straight to the point.
I have interest in the ways of arachnids, and serpents to a degree, that create their own venom. I am a spearman, with an interest in defending my homeland and such a skill would be advantageous to my cause.

Ophelia was torn between a smile and a wince when Jarvis displayed his almost serpentine teeth and -- to her further dismay -- his interest in venoms. Well, perhaps it was a good thing that Mephit was here and looking for test subjects after all...
Slowly she swung her gaze around to fixate on the Avington mix, wordlessly inviting her into the room before returning her attention to Jarvis once more.
The tip of the rodent's fangs immediately hooked Mephitisia's interest. Ohh... Now look at that? It almost made her feel at home, what with her own set of long, venomous eye teeth. Ophelia's sideway glance toward her when Jarvis mentioned 'venom' was enough to bring a genuine smile to Mephitisia's features and lure her into the room.
A father-daughter project, how delightful.
"It's venom you're looking for, hmm?" Mephitisia's voice sounded without warning, a hiss of subdued interest. "Any particular venom you're interested in?"
With a heavy mental sigh, Ophelia watched Mephitisia draw into the room. This wasn't a good idea, every fiber of her body screamed against working with her sadistic daughter...but even she had to admit the girl was skilled in all things poison. Oi.
"Jarvis, this is my daughter..."
"Mephitisia." Mephit interjected for herself before waving Ophelia on to continue.
"She is an expert in poisons, she'll be working as my assistant today, if that's all right by you?"

his ears perked as olive eyes shifted over to the form of the other doe ... one with fangs far more prominent then his own. His smaller canines retracted a bit back into his jaw before he dropped the paw back down to rest near the other. Now, in any other situation he might have found her ... creepy, but, well she seemed genuinely interested in his ... well... interest so the creepy just wasn't there. Besides, venom wasn't exactly a common place intrigue after all. Her voice, however, made his ears swivel a bit... or rather the hiss is had to it. Interesting.
Well ... I've taken quite a shine to the paralytic properties of spider venom.
He hadn't the slightest inkling of what was going on in Ophelia's mind and that little striped tail of his perked up and gave a little wiggle at the introduction, he certainly hadn't expected to be dealing with more then one Corvie today ... but it seemed it might work to his advantage after all. What were the odds that he'd find his way here on a day when one skilled n poisons was lurking about? What luck!
Cheerfully he turned his gaze back to Ophelia.
I see no problem with that, whatever you think is best really.

Mephitisia smirked ever so slightly as she watched the rodent, her gaze lofty but her intrigue kept her from being too condescending. Not to mention that he seemed almost...familiar? Perhaps she had seen him in the Capital? It didn't really matter in the end, she got to experiment with her poisons on a level she hadn't gotten to reach before.
Genetics. Never were her forte, but she was quick to learn and Ophelia's skill was easy to fall back on.
"Paralytic, hm? Good choice."
Ophelia, as hesitant as she might be, was glad that Mephitisia was apparently behaving herself and that Jarvis seemed alright with the situation. Good... Everything would go smoothly after all.
"All right, wonderful! We can proceed without any hitches." The woman pulled a warm smile across her features and tilted her attention back to Mephit to consult the serpentine Heart. "You seemed interested, do you have ideas?"
"Of course." Mephit's grin was slightly disconcerting but she behaved herself for the sake of this experiment. No need to enjoy herself too much and creep 'poor' Ophelia out. That would destroy her chances before she could so much as blink. "If it's spider venom he's interested in, then I could go quite a few directions with that." She hesitated for a moment. "Just paralytic, that is? ...Nothing necrotic or hallucinogenic, I would presume?"

He sat quietly and politely as he listened to the two speak to one another. He also had impeccably good posture, something his mother had insisted upon for as long as he could remember, she was all about posture and m... well manners of course. Too bad he was the only one of their children that had paid any attention .... and didn't have some serious personality flaw. But by the marsh why was he sitting here thinking about his odd little family when there were more pressing things at hand?
Once again he perked up as the attention found it's way back to him in the form of a question. He'd thought about the other forms of poison and had dismissed them one by one, to risky in several different manners after all.
Only paralytic, yes. The others either go beyond my purpose .... or just don't fit ... Paralysis is perfect though.
Unless, of course, the target was a lowlander ... but there were more fulfilling ways of dealing them. After all, they didn't count as people in his book.

Odd family was something that Ophelia was more than used to. Mephit was absolute and undeniable proof of this truth. While their friction was not tangible, it lurked in the shadows of the room and waited patiently for the right moment to strike.
Ophelia could only desperately hope it would stay where it belonged until business was settled.
Mephitisia, honestly, couldn't care less if Ophelia got uncomfortable with her tactics. Poison was her forte, after all.
"Paralytic poisons are very useful, wonderful choice." The serpentine doe thought on this for a moment, running through poisonous breeds of spiders that she'd worked with in the past before Ophelia abruptly quipped up. "What about a Fisher Spider? A little boost should make the venom effective without going too overboard." Mephit tensed a little, pausing to stare at her mother.
Bloody woman... Ruin her fun. Mephit could've added an interesting little kicker to the boy's desire to venom...but ah well, she would wait. She'd eventually get a chance to have some fun with this experiment.
