He tilted his head slightly to the side when she turned to look at him, tilting her head to the side and gave the cute eye blink. He was pretty sure that she did not mean anything specific by it.
When she then turned her attention down to the small girl that stood close to him he silently watched. Lifting only his eyes to glance toward the mother when she gave permission, he missed the action of her backing up till she bumped into his legs.
Looking back down at her his expression was probably not the most comforting, though to his defense he was trying to be less scary. Reaching out he rested a hand on her shoulder though he pulled it back when her brother took over taking care of her.
Waiting patiently he waited for them to take the lead. Once the two of them were heading out of the door he took up his position next to Dre, holding out an arm to her.

Dre smiled brightly at the woman; well, new experiences would certainly be in store for the children with any of her family involved. She was fairly certain everyone would come out of this unscathed. Chances were high, at least.
Treasa's reaction wasn't surprising, but it saddened the Highlander mix; the girl was too beautiful and too sweet to be so terribly frightened and shy. The certainly hoped Sa could pick up some confidence today.
Dre waved good-bye to the other King, leaning down to tap Drostan on the nose. The Ace pushed himself up all the way and followed them out into the hallway. Once there, the woman paused and kneeled down so she could be just about face-to-face with the little girl. "Treasa," she said quietly, with a confident smile. "Will you do me a favour? I need someone to keep an eye on Drostan during out adventure; I don't want him to get lost."
The Ace didn't snort at the idea of him getting lost, but he knew what the woman was doing and he begrudgingly agreed, even though he hated being the scapegoat.

When the King reached down and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, Treasa jumped ever-so-slightly, but calmed once she realized the intent behind the action. As her brother nosed her away, she turned back towards the bull hybrid, giving him the sweetest of smiles before she was once again distracted by the sound of someone saying her name. Her wide-eyed stare was directed at Dierdre and she listened in completely silence, her tail giving the woman a feeble wag.
She was being asked to take care of something as precious as the King's pet Ace? Treasa blinked, looking at Drostan. He didn't look to be nearly as scary as he had before, and so she nodded to the woman. "I-I'd b-be happy t-to," she replied quietly, tail giving another rather feeble wag.
As she followed her sibling into the hallway, she slipped into place beside Drostan and smiled slightly at him. "D-don't worry." she said softly, voice taking on a hopeful tone. "I'll d-do my b-best t-to keep you from g-getting bored."
Kieran, meanwhile, stood out in the hallway, tail swishing thoughtfully. Where would he go if he had managed to escape from parental care and guidance? Well, he'd already managed that once today and he had only stumbled into Dierdre and her pet Ace.
"Any ideas?" the boy queried softly, beginning to walk down the long hallways back towards the kitchen. It seemed like a good place to start, after all.

He waited for Dre to finish talking to the shaking girl his arm still held out for her to take. When she had he rested his on top, giving her paw a gentle squeeze of affection.
At the young male's question he raised a questioning brow to his fiancee, silently letting her speak for the two of them. He was after all just along for the fun. His mind was already running over the fun that could be had once they found Sid. The little odd ball was not necessarily the quickest of horses and was way too trusting of his uncle. Something he took to his great advantage every time he passed by the male.
Yes, he could not wait till he saw his dear nephew again. Maybe he could convince Levi to join into the fun and not let Uncle Ira know about it. Oddly enough the male seemed protective of his younger siblings and took it to heart whenever he pulled a trick or two on them.

The request had a glad response; Treasa looked cheered and ready to be helpful. Dre smiled happily and watched as the two settled in beside each other. Drostan seemed fine with the arrangements which meant that she'd have no need to convince him. When Kieran asked his question, therefore, the woman was able to direct her full attention to him, though she squeezed Ignatius' hand in affection.
"That is an excellent question," she replied, noting that he was leading towards the kitchen. "Really, I doubt any area is safe from those scamps. Though your current direction seems a good guess. They are often after snacks."
Drostan glanced towards the girl as they started down the hallway. "Boredom is rarely the greatest of my worries," he answered dryly, but there was no rancor in his tone. "Why are you so timid?" It wasn't the most subtle of questions, but it was the one foremost on his mind.

"Yeah, I try to sneak out to the kitchens whenever I can," the boy remarked as he trotted along. It was plain to see from the way that he moved that he wanted to move faster, but the odd splaying of his toes made that completely impossible for him. His ear twitched ever so slightly. "Even if not for a snack, sometimes it's fun to listen to them bustle around and, um... smell the baking." that was a blatant lie if ever there was one.
Kieran had never smelled anything in his life and he never would. He just knew that people liked the way that things like that smelled and it seemed like it was the right thing to say at that point in time.
As they neared the end of the corridor, the hybrid slowed his pace, his tail waving like a flag behind him as he crept towards the corner. It didn't matter what sort of front the boy put up, he was still a child, and he still wanted to /play/. The tail began to lash as the boy slowly glanced around the corner, then drooped slightly. Nothing in the hallway outside of the kitchen! That just meant he'd need to check inside...
Treasa gave Drostan a rather strange glance, blinking her large and golden eyes rather inquisitively. She didn't understand what he meant with that, exactly, and so she didn't know quite how to answer. She supposed it could be something like it was back at home, with Dell... The girl was pulled from that thought rather violently by the man's next question, and she stared at him and had to remind herself to keep walking forward.
If she had ears, she'd have pressed them flat against her neck by now.
"T-timid?" she repeated, voice soft. If she was more open, she would have seen the humor in that situation. It took her a second to actually answer the Ace. "I-I'm j-just shy... I've n-never b-been around so many p-people. It was j-just me, mama, p-papa, and all of us..." the girl trailed off slightly, and sadness crept into her expression.
She wanted her Jak back. But dead was dead, wasn't it?

It was probably true that they were more than likely to find the two mischief makers in the kitchens. If they were not to be found in the kitchen, well then an easy solution was that they themselves would take the chance to convince the kitchen staff to part with some food in order for them to have their own snacks. He was already starting to ponder over what he wanted to eat.
As he and Dre walked behind the kid, he had the sudden and very tempting urge to do something to spook the lad. He forced himself to resist the urge though. It was hard but considering what Dre might do to him should she be displeased by the action it was more than enough to currently deter him. Therefore he acted good, or as close to it as the mixed bull-mouse would probably ever get to it.

Dre listened as Kieran spoke, one part of her mind vaguely wondering about that hesitation, but it was difficult for her to argue with how wonderful the smell of baking was. "Perli is an excellent baker," Dre agreed lightly, falling silent only as long as it took for the boy to check the hallway; wouldn't want to spoil the hunt, after all.
"I was never around baking as a child," she admitted lightly. It was difficult for a travelling troupe to bake, so they had done without. "I never knew what I was missing out until I got here."
She was unaware of Ignatius' sudden good will, but she instinctively stuck a hand out for him without thinking.
Drostan looked over at the shy girl and cocked his head slightly. "For most of my life, I was only around my family. That doesn't mean I virtually flinch whenever people look my way." The words were spoken matter-of-factly, without rancor.

Kieran liked Dierdre. She spoke kindly to the boy even when the things he said came across as being odd, didn't ask him questions that made him feel uncomfortable, and just generally had a pleasant air about her. If he could, he would have smiled at her. He hoped that the light tone of his voice would carry his message well enough.
"Sometimes, my mother would bake," the boy said thoughtfully. "Not too often, though. Our kitchen was really little so there wasn't the kind of space she needed to make anything really good like Perli does here." The apartment had been fairly small, barely enough room for Rhiannon and Lior's family. It was nice to be out of that small space, to have room to explore and a big kitchen that provided him and his sister with all the food they needed.
When he neared the kitchen, there was a sudden CRASH, and the boy froze. His pointed ears perked and he leaned forward, clearly interested, especially as a shout of "GET BACK HERE, YOU...!!" ecchoed from somewhere inside.
He glanced at Dierdre and Ignatius. "Think we maybe found them?" he asked, tail twitching in amusement.
Treasa's pace slowed slightly as she considered Drostan's question. It did seem strange, didn't it, that the pair of them had grown up similarly but ended up so different? She stared down at her paws before looking at the Tulgey Ace, golden eyes carrying some sadness. "You d-d-don't flinch, b-but..." she swallowed. She didn't want to offend the man, after all. "You d-do k-keep them away, d-don't you? Y-you show t-them that you feel uncomfortable in a d-d-different way t-than I do b-but you still d-do it. At least when you f-first meet someone."

Spotting the hand that Dre held out to him he took it without looking at it acting, for all that he considered himself, as uninterested. He took in a good sniff of the wonderful smell that mingled in the air. Ah, such a lovely smell. Hearing his stomach rumble ever so softly in agreement, he blushed under his dark fur.
Thankful that it would not be able to be seen, he was distracted for a moment at his fiancee's comment on growing up. While he could not say that he had always grown up with the smell of good baking, when he had gotten older he had spent plenty of time in either of the two Courts.
It had never really occurred to him just how differently the two of them had grown up. He made a mental note to question her a little more on how it was that she had grown up and her own interests.
