My my, he was easily wound up, wasn't he! She assumed he'd had a bad experience with sharing before, or else he should have jumped on her agreement to share quite readily. "I do believe you were the one to slip with your politeness, though I suppose it wasn't much better for me to say certain things." Really, she hadn't a care that he had gotten so upset over one little side comment, but he did seem to have talents, talents she could maybe learn from, and since she could benefit from this, she was ready to try and suck up her own personal feelings on the matter.
"I do think this would go better if we could get along. I will try not to be so... ah... assumptuous? If you will agree to as well?" So it was kind of like a polite truce. Besaba knew how to play to what people wanted, and this male seemed to be of the peaceful, 'the less fuss the better' kind, and really, that was a relief. It was hard to do her work when someone was jabbering away trying to get her riled up. Her last sharing experience had Not been polite, but as this one was slightly more promising, she was willing to try anything twice.
Really, anything.

Rocky's tail twitched in absolute frustration. "Madam. I don't like to play games. For the sake of my research I am going to get along with you. However. You obviously think you're better than me. So I might as well leave and give Goly my information."
This woman was one number higher than he was, and apparently she thought she owned the world. How very nice and typical of her. Funny. He had never heard her name before, unlike all the other renowned scientists of Corvistowne that he could list off.
All Rocky wanted to do was fly. Was it that much to ask for a little bit of nice. He turned to the Ranger with a polite smile. "I really am quite sorry to be rude. It seems I just can't get along with this lovely lady. Would you like me to give you my information so you can find me whenever you want? Or would you actually like me to stick around, Goly. It's actually up to you." He shot a look at the feline. Women. He never would understand them. Felines in particular.

Now this was curious. Was he so upsetted by her competitive nature that he'd just up and Leave? She could never fathom doing something like that. Then again, she was desperately poor at the moment, perhaps business wasn't as important for the male, she didn't really know. "I was not playing games, if I were, I wouldn't have been so willing to compromise. I need a test subject, as do you, so is it really that hard to imagine I simply have interest in what a combined effort will produce, despite my obvious history of only really working alone?" She purred this, her attention piqued in lack of understanding. People could be so... sensitive, and... emotional. What was that all about anyway? She'd been like that once, yes, now she only really had two modes: interest, and frustration. There were sub-attitudes of these, but if she didn't have something to hold her interest, she was frustrated.
She smiled brilliantly at the Sorgaire feline, noticing how the decision was suddenly pushed onto him. "It would be nice for you to persuade your friend here to participate, I do think a lot more could come of this." She contemplated it for a moment, her tail flitting about in sudden anticipation. "However, if this is too stressful for you, feel free to run off with him and I can give you an address at which to find me later..." She winked, hoping that her persuasive offer wasn't Too persuasive. He might have taken her up on it just to find her home address where it was presumable that he could have some... alone time. And this would of course, lead to another wonderful missed opportunity. Hurt feelings were so difficult to tread around, and she never had understood how to fix them.
It was true, she wasn't a very renowned scientist at all, she lived under her mother's name until she could make one of her own. But she lacked true direction- she had a passion she wanted to follow, but the lack of funds and willing participants had made her stray from it for a while. Perhaps if she could apply different techniques more effectively in a combination, she would be more likely to find someone, another assistant perhaps, who would help her get back on track. Yes, that would be nice.

Goly was getting quite the kick out of the slight bickerings of the two scientists. He nearly got whiplash from his head moving back and forth between them both. This just might turn out to be a wonderful day for him if he could swing it in everyones favor, but if he couldn't then he was out of luck. He was sure he could manage it. Afterall, there was plenty of him to go around. "Now now, friends, I am sure there is something that can be worked out so that everyone benifits." His split tail twitched back and forth, hoping that everyone could get along long enough for him to make a bit of money. The thought that either one of them could do womething to horribly deform him hadn't crossed his mind just yet, all he saw was dollar signs. Money did make the world go round now didn't it.
"I hate to see such nice people as yourselves bickering when the solution is so simple. I can be an asset to both of you if you are willing to get along with one another." It sounded reasonable, at least in his mind.

Together? With that? Rocco's wings twisted in protest. This would not go smoothly unless he pulled his teeth out, and was too numb to feel the bloody pain. That was a little drastic, yes but, at this point he felt like being melodramatic. His mother would have beaten him over the head senseless.
That little thought caused him to take a breath and calm down. This was why winged things were so much better to socialize with. At least they were engaging rather than annoying.
"Well then. I suppose we could. But that leaves me at a slight disadvantage. I don't have very much in the way of tools with me. And messing around in someone else's lab would just be lack of etiquette. I'd have to take my leave anyway." He shrugged. Oh look. At least he could get away from that annoying woman. "I apologize for coming unprepared to some degree."

She tried to hide a smile as she watched the raccoon visibly fight with himself. She'd been downright pleasant with him and still he seemed to be completely overly perplexed. Ah, he was probably gay, and she was macking on his potential lover. Oooopsies! She giggled to herself and ignored his rather... emo-dramatic attitude, intention perking at the more... sensible male who had spoken up.
"I am more than prepared to share my temporary lap. It holds no real personal significance, as my city lab is my main lab, so I won't feel intruded upon." She cast a sideways glance at the frustrated male, waiting to see him mentally sigh in positively obvious lack of cooperational skills. My, my, her time away from the city had turned her into a princess compared to those who spent all her time in Corvistowne. They really needed to get out more. That and, of course, now that she had what she wanted in her grasp, she was just as purrrrfectly chipper as could be.
"Lack of etiquette? Have no fear, most of the supplies in there didn't cost me a pewter." This might be seen as almost... unusually polite and flexible of her to offer, but really, the lab hadn't Always been hers... and that was all that needed to be said about That. But if he was in a snit either way and just wanted a way out, it was no skin off her back. It would be sad not to see what a combined set of two very different techniques might produce, but there was a Reason she'd started working alone after her last experience. In fact, the last male had been almost frighteningly moody like this one. Peculiar. Perhaps it was a male thing? She didn't know very many, admittedly.

The word to describe his absolute frustration didn't exist. "Thank you," he said choking down all of his emotions. If there was someone who deserved to be punched in the face it was her. His wings twitched along with his tail as he looked at the woman. Felines. They were so damn annoying. His dad was like her, only far less... Rocky couldn't even come up with the word for it.
"It'll be a less than ideal situation. I don't have my notes, so I doubt I'll make the perfect formula--OH." Rocky turned to the other feline, "Goly, is paying you around eight dollars an hour good enough?" He figured he might as well pay the man a bit extra. It might bring a bit of good luck. Oh, that would be fantastic wouldn't it? He would need all the luck possible with this woman around.
Felines just reminded him too much of his father. Far too much.

The Ranger had been almost zoneing out at this point. Too much talk, not enough action for him. The raccoon's question did bring him back to the here and now though. "Why, yes, that would work out nicely." Nicely was putting it mildly. That would definatly get him a place to stay, and that was foremost in his mind right now. He was more than a little sick of sleeping in whatever alley that looked clean enough for the night.
Ah, good, it looked like the two scientists had come to an agreement, just wonderful. Now, that evern ilusive question popped into his head. What exactly are they going to do to me? He coughed a bit to clear his throat, hoping to stop any further argument just for the time being. "What is it exactly that the two of you are planning for me. I would hate to be horribly disfigured. My looks are very important in my. . .uhh, line of work." Hopfully, there wouldn't be any questions about his 'line of work'. Maybe he shouldn't have even mentioned it.

Besaba grinned and considered what to do with the feline now that everything else was out of the way. Hmmm, well, depending on what he wanted. "I do a lot of skin modifications. So far I've mastered pretty much any sort of hair growth, anywhere, as well as the addition of scales, aquatic skin, spikes... well, I haven't perfected yet, but I'm very confident about my formula. I'm also working on a subsitute for... meat, the body is far too squishy and fragile as it is." She stopped herself from going on a tangent with a small cough, perhaps he had been expecting something particular.
"Was there anything in particular you were hoping for?" In a way she hoped there was, because this might give her a new formula to perfect for future customers, or for her own studies depending on how brave this male was. She glanced at the raccoon when he mentioned payment, oh... that. It was a bit of a high price, but she'd have to pay the same unless she wanted to risk loosing the male as her test subject. "I'm willing to pay the same for your services." Boy wasn't the feline going to be making a lot of nice ka-ching from this.

Meat? That was a little creepy. Then again, that was nothing in comparison to the eccentrics that Rocky had the pleasure of passing by. That was a thought for another day. The mysterious of Corvistowne couldn't be completely covered in a years time as far as Rocco was concerned.
"Wings. I would try to give you wings that are at least capable of gliding. Of course, It would take more than one session, but I think you would appreciate the addition. I could even find a match to your fur color.... if that would interfere in your line of work though I would be more than happy to experiment with my feather serum or growth harmonies. I'm trying to stimulate growth of feathers where they were never originally intended." He gave a firm nod. That was his research plan and simple. That's what he needed a test subject for. He couldn't use himself anymore, and all he need was a fresh start.
Wings, they were so wonderful. If only everyone appreciated them.
