Gabriel didn't take any offense at the fact that she could quite keep herself neat and clean - eating in an Animal form was always difficult, and he imagined that any stain or mark upon the white of her fur stood out like a sore thumb. At least she made the effort to remain neat and orderly, unlike some people whom he had had the misfortune of dining with. Several Cards - nobles, even! - had been as base as to simply approach a regular meal with no consideration for manners whatsoever. They had consumed their food and then sat in their chairs, covered with the remnants of their food and getting crumbs into their drinks, and he had been forced to sit there and endure the humiliation.
Of course, there were some meals where getting messy wasn't at all a problem (good barbeque ribs were like that, though he always kept a napkin on hand), but that didn't require a lack of manners at all other meals as well.
"I'm very pleased that I could make such a good impression on you," Gabriel said, bowing slightly to her from the waist. "I'm afraid I might not be too much help in terms of antipathy toward the Courts, though I know a great many people who simply don't enjoy the hectic life and pace. I say more power to them, for at least they will not bog themselves and their fellow Cards down with dislike for their work." Having a single slacker working for him, he'd discovered, was less productive than being one employee less.
The servant reappeared then, an elegant bowl in his hands that was placed near Rosemary - the promised Marzen, in a recepticle easier for her to drink from than the stein which he used.

"It's not so much that with my Aunt Josephine. She has some unexplained hatred to the courts. To the point where she even told me that she would cry hysterical tears if she ever saw me join. And I am her least favorite niece." Rosemary said with a tail thud. That was a depressing thought, but then again he had never gone looking for Aunt Joe's affection. In fact, she normally went out of her way to make the old woman miserable.
When the beer arrived her ears perked up. Oh yes, it was even in a dish that made it easier to drink. She could have squealed with joy. Instead she gave the servant a nod or approval and smiled at the King.
She lapped a bit of it up, using her paw to cover the view of what she was doing. Mmmm. That was good. She leaned back in her chair with a rather triumphant smirk on her face. Being a bard was awesome. "Thank you, so much, for being so very hospitable," she said with a bow of her head.

He looked shocked, ears laid back in upset at what she'd imparted. How anyone could be that against the Courts, to attempt to forbid even their niece (least favored or not) from joining... It was terrible. For that matter, favoring one child above another in any way was quite sad. Of course, he'd only had his daughters, and Gabrielle's sister had left with her mother not long after birth. He'd seen the child a time or two, of course, but he wasn't nearly as close to her as he was to his heir. That, however, was a deliberate choice, and he would never attempt to claim any power over her.
"I am truly sorry that your family situation is such. I am glad, however, that you are not allowing your Aunt's hatred to blind you as well. If nothing else, you are taking a look amongst the Courts with your own eyes. It is an admirable effort, Bard Rosemary." Gabriel took a good long drink of beer after that, in order to settle himself.
He was molified, however, that she retained elegance even in the matter of drinking. Smiling, he bowed back to her. "It is no trouble at all. You are a true pleasure to dine and converse with."

"Joe is just a stuffed shirt. My mother and father understand that everyone has a right to do their own thing. I prefer their teachings to hers anyway. Batty old mage she is." Rosemary shrugged. She didn't consider what she said as an insult to her aunt. Honestly, she was the weirdest possible mage in the family.
"Oh, but as a bard I must repay such kindness," Rosemary said with a smile. "It comes with the job, after all." She gave the man a wink before taking a few more laps of her beer.
How lucky was she to stumble into such a place. She really did wonder if all the other courts were like this? Rumors didn't really do any of them justice. After all rumors were just stereotypical stories that floated around. Then again, history was just a bunch of backstairs gossip.
"So, would you like to hear a story Sir Gabriel?"

"Your open mind is a great credit to you in such a situation," he said firmly. "And it is good that you have had a better influence from others as well! It gladdens my heart to know that others in your family have not had themselves corrupted by such a close-minded attitude." With her Tulgey coloration - despite the colorful tattoos - it was obvious that she had likely been raised in the Woods, or at least her Aunt Josephine had. They were a very odd lot, those of the Tulgey, and the existence of a harsh, close-minded attitude toward anything outside of their Reigion didn't surprise him overmuch. At least her parents weren't quite as backward, or at least were a different sort of backward that didn't try to shut everything else out.
At the offer though, his eyes lit up in anticipation. "I would be delighted! Such an offer - well, I will not lie and say that I wasn't hoping for such a thing. You seem to be the sort of person who has gathered intriguing stories from far and wide, far different from what can be found in this Court." He settled back into his chair, resting his elbows on the armrests and focusing his attention entirely on her, and audience for her pleasure as well as his. "Please do, when you find it convenient, my dear Bard."

She gave the King a toothy grin. He was quite an interesting man. He had quite a bit to say and knew exactly the right way to say it. Her tail wagged a bit as she went through the catalog of stories in her head. What would be the best one for a King? An adventure? A tale of a witch? Or perhaps a tale from the Woods? War? Dragons?
"I'm not quite sure of what you would like to hear, but I suppose I could tell you an old story. One about a Princess and a Doll that comes from my region. Or I could tell a tale about a heroic adventurer from regions unknown who came across a swamp witch." Rosemary paused to take a long drink of her beer.
She could come up with something completely random if he didn't like the choices. It wasn't beyond her to piece together different tales. "Is there an region you would like to here a tale from?"
