He perked an ear stump at the word 'doggy bag' and laughed a little, they had bags for canines so they could take food home? That seemed silly, and unfair for everyone who wasn't a 'doggy', but at least if he qualified that would make this eating thing much easier.
"Oh, that's very helpful. Do you think I'm close enough to a 'doggy' to be able to have one?" He asked innocently, not realizing how strange his comment would sound. Sabien really had a lot to learn about the world, he'd really been too scared and poor to explore most of it. He had heard snippets of the females conversations and envied their good fortune. He wouldn't tell Tolius about his lack of good fortune, he didn't like how people acted around him when he told them he didn't have a home.
"Where do you live? Do you live with her?" He nodded his head towards the woman the canine had been eyeing in an unusual manner a few moments before, not wanting to ask about that. It was none of his business and he really just wanted to talk to the sweet canine. The fox flicked his tail playfully against Tolius' and blushed. This flirting thing was fun!
Livide could sense the woman's discomfort and sighed mentally, she was a bit pushy sometimes. It came with all the other perks of being a confident woman. However, Vana obviously understood more of how this worked than her, so she shouldn't have been so insistant on her ignorant beliefs. Either way, so long as the butterfly realized she had a significant amount to be proud of, everything else wasn't her business.
"Sorry, I'm not usually so stubborn." She offered softly, hoping to ease the woman's discomfort a little. It seemed she was content to move on with the conversation however, so that was fine with her as well.
"Yes, our region is especially accepting of women. There has been a lot of political opinions going around lately with the news of another male Queen." She winced a bit, having gone home for only a few days but leaving again because all of their bickering and complaining and threatening with witch hunts was starting to grate on her nerves. Really, was it that bad? She'd never shared many of their uncompromising man hating opinions, ever. It was pointless and futile, men existed and would never un-exist, for this reason and the fact that it had been so for years, men were going to be just as entitled (if not moreso) to positions of power and other things hard earned.
"No, I suppose I'm a bit of an odd ball in that society. The death of my father really cemented my opinion that most of them should be put down or locked away for the sake of everyone. Men are alright, I don't consider them potential mates in any way, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to exist as I do." She shook her head at this, not looking all too bothered by bringing her father's unfortunate end up so randomly. Men weren't all that terrible really. They weren't the sex she'd choose to sleep with or spend the rest of her life with, but that was just a lifestyle choice, it didn't mean that because they couldn't sexually satisfy her they should all be taken out back and shot.

Anatolius couldn't help but laugh. The sound was rich and warm, and probably a little over-loud but not obnoxiously so. He leaned in and nuzzled affectionately against Sabien.
"No, no. You don't have to be a 'doggy' to get a doggy bag, it's just a term. It's a bag for your left overs, regardless of you species. Technically, though, I imagine you are. Foxes aren't too different from 'dogs', prettier though...I think." His tail flicked back against Sabien's and Tolius affectionately licked his neck.
"With Vana? Well, sort of. She sort of, wormed her way in with me." Vana gave him a 'look' and he laughed again, grinning at his niece before continuing. "Really, though, we're looking to find a bigger place so that she, my roommate, and I can live together without...err, sharing beds." Not that he minded sharing one with Acher...
Vana tilted her head slightly as Livide explained the current politics. It made sense, really, that the Yarrows would be upset about that -- what with three male Queens and only one female. It must've been a frustration...
Then again, Vana also couldn't understand the extremist views of that region. No men at all? Killing your male children? It just...didn't sit well with her at all. Then again, maybe they were all a little loopy from the toxic fumes there? Again, Vana simply didn't know.
"Well, at least there's still one female Queen in power? I don't imagine it's a gender thing that's controlling the politics out there, but rather a matter of determination." Vana nodded thoughtfully, the little Spade musing on the thought. "And no, oh my... I don't think anyone deserves to not exist. Especially not over gender."
She smiled weakly and tilted her head. "Would it be rude of me...to ask what happened to your father, that it would cement such a belief?" Vana could make plenty of assumptions on the matter, but already she didn't like any of them.

Sabien blushed mightily when Tolius explained what the term doggy bag actually meant. Oh. Well now he looked rather stupid didn't he? Turning his head away to the side, he leaned his head in to the other male's affections, growing obviously more comfortable with the concept that he was allowed to flirt, and that Tolius was actually flirting with him and not just giving him pity affection. When their cheeks brushed together he smiled in a rather feminine manner and cleared his throat.
"Do you think I am pretty then?" He asked curiously, dipping his head down shyly before glancing up when the canine spoke again. He had a nice voice.
"That makes sense. It sounds like it should be easy for you if your niece has an inheritance." He didn't understand the term really, but the way in which the girls used it spoke that it was good to have and meant that they were well off somehow. Like someone had just gifted them money. Did that really happen?
"Yes, but she is rather low on the suit totem pole. They're pushing for a Heart and/or Diamond Queen, as they generally are viewed as the most important and powerful positions. And Yarrows tend to follow any opinion that relates to power and gender combined." She laughed and rolled her eyes playfully, having no qualms with poking fun at her own region. Certainly with all the rumour mills running at maximum capacity she'd heard some... interesting things about rulers current and past, mostly all male, and had come to her own conclusions, but she still held her opinions on a person to person basis without any thought to gender.
"It would not. I opened it up by talking about it now didn't I?" She stopped to smile encouragingly at the female before letting out a small sigh. "He wasn't accepted by the community of Yarrow women we lived near. My mother and I were, and are still very much welcome, and because of their fondness for us, they believed they were doing good by 'freeing' my mother from the 'posessive, abusive, and controlling vice' that was my father. He was a kind man though, he just... didn't know enough about the woman he was with to be with her. For that he paid the ultimate price, he was killed by an angry mob. Nobody interfered because, well, who in their right mind would go against a group of determined Yarrow women?" She laughed lightly though the humour didn't reach her eyes. It was a bit of a sore spot, but she had to consider all sides on the event. Her father really should have known better than to push himself into that part of her life, they could have easily packed up and lived somewhere else in peace. When hating men is all you ever know, how can you be expected to just up and forget about your prejudices? Livide understood far too much to feel more than a bit of sadness for her father's passing.
But it was still there. She was far too young to remember much of him, but he'd been a good man and a good father from what she remembered. Her mother had moved on and moved past the event surprisingly quickly, something that had always been a sore an awkward spot between them.
"Hmmm. Perhaps we should switch to something less inclined to ruin the mood?" A light grin was tossed at the lovely butterfly before she went to poking at some very cold food. This would certainly have to be taken home, how absent minded of her!

"Well, yes. Of course, I do. You've got that natural Yarrow beauty, after all."
With his food already devoured, Tolius was focusing his attention more and more heavily upon Sabien. The boy said he was full, didn't he? His whole side was now pressed against Sabien's own, and his tongue teased along the male's neck from time to time.
He nodded a little. "Yeah, I suppose that's true." The trick, at the moment, was finding a place that was comfortable. Not too large -- like Vana's old home -- or too small, like the one they shared currently. "Though I think the problem is more 'where' than 'how' at the moment."
Vana nodded a little. "There's a Yarrow in the Courts, isn't there? Diamonds, I believe." Her brow furrowed a little and she shrugged her slender shoulders. "Well, I suppose a Queen isn't the same as The Queen." The poor butterfly wasn't very interested in Politics, and while she followed who was who and the like, she couldn't say she was all too opinionated on the matter.
As Livide spoke in her father, Vana listened with silent politeness and finally her understanding once the mouse had finished. My...that was, quite the story. "I'm sorry to hear that." She returned Livide's grin with a small smile of her own and nodded lightly. "Yes, I think that'd be a good idea."
If only, of course, Vana could think of something worthwhile to say. "I-Is there anything, perhaps, that you had in mind to talk about?"

Sabien perked at the attention, his face an ever-red flush and his tail thumping consistently against the seat like the pitter-patter of rain. He made small murmuring noises of contentment, nuzzling his nose into Tolius' thick neck fur now and again as he moved or spoke. It seemed they were both done with their meals, and the girls had barely touched anything in the last ten minutes, so he assumed the doggy bag person would be by soon.
"I could maybe help you? I don't know much about houses, but I sleep around a lot of different ones. I hear a lot of people talk about moving out and moving in when they take out the garbage and chat. So far it sounds like next month is going to be a busy time for relocating." He'd stolen the last line word for word from the Corvie man who had been lurking around a rather shy looking Sorgaire woman at the front of the alleyway he'd camped out in. Sabien wasn't generally one for good words or big words, or speech in general, but he tried to listen to how others spoke and to speak like them.
"I would like to be your roomate, but I don't have a job of any kind. I've tried but... nobody really wants me." He admitted, bowing his head deep into the canine's fur so he wouldn't see how painfully embarassed the fox was about his current situation.
"I don't pay much attention to be honest. I only go by what I hear. Court life has never been in my cards I believe." She smirked and shook it off, not caring to discuss politics that much either. Gossip about politics was as far as she got, word of mouth kept her as informed as she felt she needed to be. Sure the life sounded good there, but her life outside the courts was fine so why would she subject herself to the irritation? She was a people person, but the sniping and conniving was just a waste of life. She was a lover, not a fighter after all.
"Well, how about what you would like to do tonight. Unless you had plans? I couldn't help but overhear your friend saying he will be parting ways with us eventually." She offered, trying to keep her cool mask in place so as not to show her excitement at being left alone with the butterfly. Well, Sabien would probably tag along, but that was fine with her. She didn't see Parvana as the kind of girl to sleep with someone on the first date... and technically the lunch hadn't even been a date though it had kind of turned out that way. And even if she was wrong, she was sure it wouldn't be too hard to distract an Ace, as cruel as that was.

Anatolius had to fight off the frown that nearly tainted his expression. He slept around a lot of different houses? Not in them? He knew where that was going and he was absolutely determined not to acknowledge that. Being in love with one person was bad enough, he couldn't bring in a 'pet' as well.
He leaned in, licking the boy's cheek gently. "You just have to find the right places to look." This was not entirely true, he knew how hard it was for an Ace to be accepted readily in any business. "Maybe I can help you find a spot of work, hm? Then you could get a place of your own..." His bright eyes flashed to Vana and Livide. Maybe Vana could convince the little mouse girl to help poor Sabien out?
"I would have to agree about myself." She laughed a little, ignoring the fact that her interest in the Courts lay solely in the fascinating Queen of Spades.
Plans? She didn't really have any. Usually when Tolius ran off she stayed in and made dinner for Acheron or engulfed herself in her studies. Maybe she would do herself some good to get out? "I don't really have plans, no..." The butterfly dipped her head, wings fluttering in thought. "Well, what sort of stuff is there to do in the City? I really haven't been here long enough..."

The fox wiggled his tail happily and nodded his head. He would try harder then, because the handsome canine thought he could do well if he found the right place. Surely he'd just been looking for the wrong things. Tolius sure was high ranked, he must have a really important job, everyone there probably did. Maybe they'd know someone... but he'd never ask. Well, not the women anyway, but Tolius seemed much more open and understanding.
"I would love that! Where do you work? Oh I probably couldn't do it anyway... you have a really high rank." Well, that wasn't altogether true, but his rank seemed enormously important to the ace, as did everyone else's who were even a step up past the fox. His lavender eyes glowed with the eagerness he felt to be a part of what everyone else was. A job, a house, maybe a friend to stay with him. He wouldn't ever dream of it, but maybe with a little help...
Best not to get his hopes up, that usually didn't end well...
The mouse was almost bursting with excitement. The city was full of wonderful things! Well, wonderful to her anyway. Ways to romance beautiful women and the like seemed to be the city's specialty. It was why she couldn't bring herself to leave.
"Well... you could come dancing with me. Or we could just listen to the band play and talk more." No need to be pushy, she figued Vana might not be too hot on the idea of dancing. It wasn't as difficult in animal form as some people made it out to be, and she had no idea if the woman had bipedal as she did. It may have seemed rude that the girl was always in this form, but being a mouse, it was really the only way to be even close to as tall as everyone else was. It was nice being able to stand next to a canine and not feel like a flea.
"Do you play any intstruments, Vana? I am quite good at the cello myself, and I could teach you if you were ever interested." That would be quite a way to spend an evening as well. Normally Livide had no idea what to do with herself, but suddenly with the idea of company, she felt the need to find something exciting and new for them both. Tonight could really be the decision maker on whether the butterfly stuck around to see her more often or not, and the idea of failing at ensnaring the woman was too frightening to think of.

(Oi X_X; I'm so sorry for the lag. Vana's muse is just...fighting me. -_- Sorry ;_;)
Tolius absently touched his chest as the canine spoke. High rank? Well, yes... To an Ace he must've been really up there, but in reality he was merely a 6. In the grand scheme of things Tolius was merely average and, on a more personal level, a whole two ranks lower than his own niece.
For the most part, Tolius wasn't afflicted by the usual Morganberry power-hunger but there were still those rare occasions when it seemed to creep up and stare him blatantly in the face. Ah well, on days like those he just drank a little more than usual or took an extra lover or client to bed.
"I work for a lovely lady named Roxanne." He hesitated briefly, aware of Parvana's gaze briefly striking him. She wasn't at all pleased with this knowledge but that was something that they'd need to deal with in private. "She's not really high in rank or anything, but she's got her human form and she's a wonderfully charismatic woman. I admire her a lot." He smiled a little, but was aware that probably shouldn't mention what his actual work was. If anything it'd get him in trouble with Vana and he simply didn't want that.
The butterfly tilted her head to the side, wings folded back and her eyes full of interest. Livide was so confident and eager, Vana couldn't help but envy her.
"No, I'm afraid not." She laughed a little. "I've never had any skill with instruments. I...can sing a little, but that's about it. D-Dancing would be, more my style." The moment she spoke, she regretted it. How on earth was she going to get up the courage to actually dance with this outgoing mouse?
