He kept his promise. It took a little while, but he finally worked up the courage to change. The little rabbit was done taking orders, he was finally going to go out into the world and find Igni. He just had to do it fast, and make stops along the way. Lots of stops. Being a Jack was complicated on so many levels that he almost wanted to go back to being a leveret. But it was still better than living in terror. He could have a future now. And hopefully that future would include Seena. That was assuming she was still willing to fall for him. That was also assuming she was still in the same place. Heike clutched the book tightly in his hand as he approached the warren. Would she actually want to come with him? Would she still be willing to leave? Had she already been traded? There was no point in worrying before he actually got there.

Seena was a bit ashamed tp say she'd actually...pined after Heike for quire some time after he'd left. Every morning, before anyone else was awake, she went out to the edge of her Warren's property, just where she'd been the first time, and sat still as a statue, waiting, hoping...but always turned back dissapointed.
It was silly, she told herself after a while. If he even made Jack...if he even remembered her...if he found her...if he was able to steal her away...there were too many 'if's in this situation. So after several weeks...she stopped waiting and just resigned herself to life at Rhodney's Warren. It wasn't so bad. At least he treated her like a person, instead of property, even if deep down she knew that's really what she was.
And then...then he just...left. Up and left one day without a word, leaving his daughters in charge of the Warren. His -crazy- daughters.
Seena tried to help care for the Warren, tried to help the falling morale of the Leverets and the other Doe (though she was so self-pitying she never really had much morale in the first place), but it was hard. It got harder every day, and the Need was a constant ache in the back of her mind. She got restless, taking long walks...she had weird, troubling, foggy dreams...she sometimes forgot what she was doing in the middle of doing it, had trouble concentrating on reading (not that there was anything new to read...she'd already devoured all of Rhodney's private library months ago). She worried she was going crazy.
She probably was.
And that was what she'd choose to blame her reaction on, that fateful day, where -he- finally came back...not Rhodney, not the Lowlander, but the one true friend she sometimes felt she had met in this world...
She'd been wandering out of the Warren, initially with the idea to pick a few mint leaves to make tea, but then she just sort of found herself spacing out a bit...and that was when she saw a flash of green and cream out of the corner of her eye, and she caught her breath sharply and turned...and stared, hardly able to believe her own blue eyes. This had to be a hallucination brought on by too long without having her Need attended to...how could she have dreamed up something so perfect, so lovely?
She'd never seen anything so handsome in her life. She rubbed her eyes, and he was still there...
She wanted to run, to throw herself into his arms, but something held her back, some sense that she might still just be imagining this.
"Heike?" she asked, voice hoarse, taking a few dancing steps toward the lovely vision.
((holy crap LOOOONG. >_> ))

The concerned look on Heike's face only grew as he continued to walk closer to the Warren. Was he remembering were it was correctly? Had he made a mistake and gone in the wrong direction? There was no sign of life amongst all of the landscape. He must have been wrong... but what turn had he missed? He was normally good with directions....
It wasn't until he heard the familiar voice did he realize that he was in the right place. His expression changed from worry to surprise when he saw the white against the terrain. She really hadn't been traded away, and she recognized him.
He could have jumped for joy, instead he wrapped his arms around the book he was holding a bit tighter. "Seena! I'm so sorry it took me so long!" He smiled as he quickly went to close the gap between them.
