"What a big place". Xopek said aloud. I wonder if there's something good to eat or read here. He walked further into the the capital city and realized he had nowhere to go. He needed some information on somewhere good to eat. A scrawny rat came up to him looking for some money with a loud, Spare some money Guv'nerXopek saw he was a mere 3 of clubs, deciding such an interaction was below him he promptly told the rat what he could do with that money. There's no reason to be so cold guv'ner, wot if i could help you out. There must be somefink i can do for you. He replied.Xopek decided that maybe such an illiterate buffoon could help him in his endeavor to find a nice meal. "Wheres a good place to eat".He said. You should go to the bar just a ways down the street. He said. They 'ave a real nice bead shop next to it, the owners a bit loopy mind. "What do you mean "loopy"." Xopek replied. Shes nice and all, but she just doesn't stop talk'in, filthy highlander to boot. The rat said. "Well... maybe I'll just grab some food and check the shop out. Thanks for the information and have a nice day". Xopek responded Your welcome guv'ner. The rat said. He then slunk back into the shadows and disappeared from sight. How strange, Xopek thought to himself. he then began to make his way to the Shop to meet this "loopy" shopkeeper and the good food and maybe adventure that awaited him.

Her stomach grumbled again. Probably for the third time in the past fifteen minutes, and this time Kanoni's customer must have heard it. The Morganberry otter smiled as she grabbed her receipt and turned to leave. Listening to the bell connected to her door tinkle as the woman exited, Kanoni thought of all the projects she had wanted to finish before the day was out, but she had been surprisingly busy. Not something to really complain about she grinned to herself, happy that her business was finally starting to bloom. She flip-flopped on whether to close the store for a few minutes to go get lunch, or to work on her unfinished projects with an empty belly. She didn't want to lose any customers by not being available, but her stomach grumbling again made the decision for her. She went upstairs to find paper and carefully penned out a note with her beak that read; " Out for Lunch, Will Return By Noon" That would give her a little over a half an hour to find something to eat. She opened the door to attach the sign to it but paused when she saw a haughty looking Esterberry ferret walking down the street.

Xopek headed towards the bead shop the rat mentioned. He saw the restaurant next door and heard his stomach growl. He was just deciding whether to go to the bar or the shop. The shop was a quaint little place, but he wondered about the crazy owner, would she be any help or would she just be another low ranking card not worth his time or intelligence
He stood indecisively in front of the store when he saw a bird who looked like a highlander walk out. He wondered if this was the "loopy" store owner the rat had spoken of. he saw she was a six of diamonds so she was just under him in rank and she didn't seem to be too insane. He thought to himself maybe this card could bring adventure or a good meal at least. He approached and let out a
"Hey you"
She looked quite startled and he hoped he had not just ruined his chances of adventure and good food.

She jumped when the ferret spoke, his voice was different than anything she had ever heard before. It was musical, almost singing, though his words left something to be desired. She thought it was a little rude to just walk up to people unannounced and Hey you them, though she had been raised by her mother who was polite if she was anything.
Kanoni turned back to her door, reached inside and flicked the lights off, and finished locking up. She turned to face the ferret, noticing that he was also a diamond, though he was one rank above her. She smiled and asked politely, "Is there anything I can help you with, sir?" She shifted her shoulders, fluffing her feathers against the breeze rolling down the street, and tilted her head questioningly to the side. She hoped he was just asking for directions or something quick so she go go eat. Her stomach loudly protested the thought of being further delayed.

The bird jumped a little bit at his voice when he called her. he always wondered why he was born with a voice that sounded like he was singing. It was always a pain trying to get someone to do something because they thought he was just singing and being weird. she quickly finished closing up her shop and she seemed very perturbed by his words.
" I want to know somewhere good to eat" He said imperiously.
He cursed under his breath at his rudeness, but he didn't care enough to change it. though she seemed worried about him he didn't want to scare her away as that would make all this effort to get here a waste, and if anything you could say about Xopek he hated wasted effort. He needed the information she had or he would go hungry, or at the very least have to search for a restaurant himself.

Kanoni was glad he only wanted to know where to eat, though again, his abruptness grated on her nerves. She had planned on going to the little Selkie Laken restaurant, they served the best grilled fish and Kanoni had ever had. The thought of inviting the ferret dulled her excitement of good food however. Perhaps she could lose him without too much trouble....
"Well, um, there's the bar next door here.... it serves pretty good food...and other bar stuff," She wouldn't show him into the bar, even if her mother's standards would have required it, because Kanoni hadn't gone back to the bar since... well, she didn't go in there anymore. She shuffled a step to the left, beginning to walk down the street, "Well, anyways, I'll be going now, gonna go feed myself... heh," she turned, pointed at the bar and smiled to the ferret and took her next step down the street.

The bird seemed distressed at his words. she looked like the only thing she wanted to do was run away from him. He knew it was his own fault he shouldn't have been so rude to someone who was just trying to help him out.
"I'm sorry for my rudeness miss. My name is Xopek." He said.
"Thank you for the information, I'm sorry for being so abrupt in my words. I was told the bar near here served good food, but i wanted to ask someone who was close to it to find out for sure. Is there any other places to eat? I find bars to be a bit of a pain, what with all the drunks and the stupid people drinking."
"I saw how you were going out for lunch. If it would be all right, i would treat you to lunch to make up for my earlier rudeness. You seem to be very intelligent and might be a good person to talk to. I also wanted to look at your store. I might need a necklace or something to impress any ladies I might meet."

Kanoni stopped and faced the ferret again, smiling at his apology, she appreciated that he had noticed his rudeness.
"Hi, Xopek, I'm Kanoni." She liked his name, it was sort of musical, just like his voice. She paused, and then decided lunch with Xopek couldn't be worse than continuing to go without food.
"Well I was planning on going to this restaurant called Kirkeby's and it has the most delicious food. This old couple from the Selkie Lakes opened it here like almost twelve years ago when their first grandchild was born. Isn't that sweet?" She began walking down the street towards the restaurant again, this time looking over her shoulder to continue talking.
"They have this lunch special that is SO good, it's probably my favorite thing to order there. It's grilled fish and vegetables and just whatever they do to it makes it ridiculously tasty. Come on, its right at the end of the next street!"

Xopek saw that Kanoni was happy he had said sorry. The bird then told him about this nice restaurant opened by this Selkie couple. The rat was right, she did talk a lot, but that was okay. Hearing about the food made his stomach gurgle really loudly. He looked up sheepishly, hoping it wasn't too loud.
"Thanks for the help finding food, and I'm really sorry about my earlier rudeness. If you were wondering about my voice i was born with it. My father and mother were bards, they said that their musical talent came out in my voice. I just wish they were still around now.
He followed Kanoni around until they arrived at the restaurant. It was small and quaint, but the smells of the food within were amazing. Xopek and Kanoni walked in and grabbed a seat. A curvy selkie otter waitress walked over and asked what they wanted to order.

Kanoni heard Xopek's stomach gurgle and laughed, "Mine's been doing that all morning, I think I actually scared a customer a little bit ago, it was super loud, you should've seen their face."
She continued walking down the street, sad to hear about the ferret's parents, but interested in the fact that they had been bards. "I'm sorry to hear that, are you a bard, too?"
They sat down at her regular table by the big bay window, and Fennel, the Selkie otter waitress smiled and asked what they wanted, even though she knew exactly what Kanoni was going to order. "I'll have my usual, please. Fennel, this is Xopek, he's new to the city, and he is just as hungry as me!" Kanoni waved to the big, dark, Torquehelm horse who was standing behind the counter. He waved back, looked at Kanoni's dining partner, and gave a big wink. She stuck out her tongue and giggled before he turned to start preparing her food.
