The Torque canine left her manager to deliver the soup, pleased to see that the sparrow was utterly ignoring her. A quick check showed that the Corvie bird hadn't done more than taste his tea, at best, and it looked as though he was actually ignoring it as well. Haret kept her sigh to herself, and simply cast her eyes swiftly across the table to be certain that all else was in order. Things looked fine, so she gave another little head bob to the kind raccoon and quickly took herself back away again.
Her other tables were soon cleared and all that remained for her was the one with the very arrogant sparrow and the nice raccoon. She kept a close eye on them from the kitchen, trying to be certain that they wouldn't need anything more before their checks without actually being over there and, likely according to the bird 'in the way'.
(( Yay, Haret can hide in the kitchen for now. xD; ))

The raccoon blinked with surprise. Oh? So his research could be applied to a mechanics work? That was rather encouraging. He'd never worked along side a mechanic before. That would be a new and exciting adventure. "If you do want to look me up I suppose I should give you my card, unless you have a flawless memory."
When the soup arrived Rocky thanked the waitress brightly. It didn't take him long to finish the soup, when it came to appetites Rocky's was rather huge. Keeping it in check was one of the challenges he faced ever day. It was a good thing he loved flight so much or he would weigh quite a bit.
"I hope you don't mind my curiosity," he said after finishing his soup in a few gulps. "But are you going to be attempting to create flight capable mechanical wings? Or would they just be for aesthetics at first?"

Owen fluffed out his feathers at the raccoon's flippancy, but simply allowed them to smooth again without-- amazingly-- getting irritated. "A card would be most useful." He was already off and plotting the experiment in his mind; always a good first step. He sipped his tea again as Rocco devoured his soup, and it was likely fortunate for both of them that the sparrow hadn't noticed just how quickly the food had vanished since he almost certainly would have said something unfortunate.
Golden eyes blinked thoughtfully, his mind brought back to the presence by the raccoon's question. "Flight capable would, of course, be the end goal, but a start in simple aesthetics would be wisest, I believe. They will require some usefullness, perhaps gliding only, to justify the experiments, unless I can find some suitable subjects." At this, his expression turned contemplative yet again. It might prove difficult to locate a winged Ace.

The raccoon couldn't help but smile as he reached into his change purse and pulled out a small card with black embossed letters on it. Along with his proper name, it provided the address to his house in Corvistowne and the location of his office in the Capital.
Rocco nodded at the sparrow's comment. Aesthetics weren't the difficult part, it was the actual creation of functional mechanical wings. Rocky had always been able to find "volunteers" for his research rather than using Aces. There were quite a few crazy people out there willing to do anything for a tiny bit of monetary compensation. Maybe he could find one of those down on their luck prostitutes to experiment on? They were always willing to do something if money was involved... it was just finding one with a good set of wings...
"I think it just depends on who you're willing to look at for experiments. There are the people who will do just about anything for you if you pay them a bit of money. I normally put an ad in the paper for anyone willing to subject themselves to experimentation for a little bit of money."

Owen accepted the card without really looking at it, tucking it away so he wouldn't lose it-- though there was a fairly good chance he'd forget he'd taken it at all. He had never bothered with business cards; they were simply too mundane (mostly because it had never occurred to him he might need them). Yet another idea had taken root, however, and there was a fairly good chance of the sparrow getting them later.
The Diamond looked a bit aghast at Rocco's suggestion; people would allow themselves to be experimented upon for money? What a vulgar thought!
Still, the plebeian masses were known to be horribly crude; it certainly shouldn't be surprising at all. Nevertheless, Owen preferred to get his subjects properly, by purchasing them.
"Well, if it comes to that, I suppose," the avian said distastefully. "I shall need to make some diagrams and prototypes first, however." He rose suddenly from the table, almost carelessly tossing the money to cover his bill. "I need to check my alloys again." This statement was muttered more to himself than to Rocco. "I may need something even lighter; perhaps less titanium. . ."

The raccoon blinked in surprise as the sparrow suddenly stood and dropped the money on the table. Oh, so this conversation was over just like that? That was a shame. He would have to look up Mr. Owen again when he got the chance. Hopefully he'd remember him. Then again how hard was a giant raccoon with bright neon Morganberry wings to forget?
"All right then, feel free to look me up whenever you have the chance," He pulled out the money he needed for his bill, setting it down in a neat little pile. "I hope you have a wonderful time finding what you need in the City."
With that said Rocky gave the bird a bright smile and excused himself from the conversation entirely. He had spent entirely too long at lunch and still had work to do at his little office. But at least the time wasn't wasted.
