I need to rant a little bit.
I'm entering my last two years of pre-med education. Today, I register for next semester's classes. Normally, this is pretty exciting and quite a lot of fun! I mean, I get to plan next semester all out, and take a bunch of fun classes that will hopefully learn me a thing or two about.. well, everything!
This time, it isn't.
I'm down to 10 major classes left to take. This means 10 hard science classes, each of which includes at least six hours a week of lab on top of three hours of lecture. That's fine. I like chemistry, so Organic Chem should be a lot of fun for me. A lot of work, and I'll probably end up crying myself to sleep 90% of the time, but at least there's some interest in the material.
I had really been hoping I could take at least two other major classes, but GUESS WHAT? Not gonna freaking happen! I can take Cell Biology, which I'm really dreading - it's taught by the same guy who teaches my Genetics class, and it's heralded as being one of the hardest classes for my major. Here's the description:
Biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, quantitative analysis, and culture of eukaryotic cells.
Good times. Especially when the exams are noted as being "3 hours of essay questions". GONNA CRAM MY HED FULL OF DOS MOLEKULES, YUP. I know this prof. He's going to expect me to know the full difference between the structure Cdc7 and Cdt1 and why they're both necessary in the start of replication. I guess... At least I'll be getting it over with.
Of course, with just O. Chem and Cell Bio, my week is already packed. There's no room in my schedule for any of the other science classes I need to graduate, and I just... FFF. Even if there was room, they're all offered during the same bloody time slots. I only have on GE left and so I'd like to save that to break up one of the semesters when I need to take 3 science classes, and I still need to take a history class, so I get to toss that onto the pile, too!
On top of all of this, it's vital that I manage a perfect maintenance of my GPA, or else I can kiss my dreams of medical school goodbye. Oh right, and the necessity of getting an internship and a volunteer position. And working. I might need to give up on that, which is gonna seriously suck eggs in terms of my personal enjoyment of life (I tend to use my work money to buy high quality food).
Someone kill me.
