The sound the bat made was enough to make Falkenhayn quiver in fear. And then the words finally registered through all the paranoid babbling that was going through his head. His eyes widened even more than usual. Mother was going to face Apocalypse? The man who had torn a chunk out of scary sister Xiven's ear and who had apparently torn his new sister's ear off? The little boy made a distressed sound as he moved forward. "You have to stop Mommy! What if he hurts her! Or something worse!"
Benedict sighed. He would have rolled his eyes if that were possible. Instead he nipped his brother. Falks gave a rather loud squeak, a sound almost like nails on a chalkboard, and Benedict snorted. "Calm down and listen to your sister. BOTH of you!" He went to snap at Vaska, pulling away before he could get hit by the boy.
Falks was still in a slight state of panic. And quite suddenly he burst into tears. The 'what if's" still running through his head for entirely too much to take. What if the man took their mother away for good? What if he came after them next? What if he was plotting some great evil to murder their whole family?

Vaska was freaking out.
It was him. It was that man, that terrible, awful, no-good Suit-stealing man. He started to shake hard. Mom was going after him? Why? Why would she need to do something like that? The little bat just didn't get it, and his already-wide eyes widened slightly. No one talked about it, but Vaska knew. Vaska understood. Apocalypse was something wrong, something worse than the perverts people talked about. He could work dark, dark magic, and he was certain that he'd already started the process.
The boy began to moan, shaking hard as he wrapped himself in his wings, rocking back and forth slowly. Falksie understood. He could tell by the way his brother started to freak out. But Ben...
"Come off it, Ben!" he snapped, rounding on his skull-brother, his ears flattening. He took a few deep breaths, almost hyperventilating. "You - You just don't care! You don't have a Rank for him to STEAL, so you're not afraid of him! But he's gonna take Mom's rank, and since he's got a better one, he's just gonna get rid of it! Like garbage! And then she'll be one of her slaves, too! Just like Rhi-Rhi."
All that ranting was getting the best of him, and he rocked back on his heels, panting from the exertion of it. Then he turned back to Eldy, expression imploring. "Please. You have to - do something! Tell her to stop."

Eldy made a small noise. Really, it was amazing she was able to keep as calm as she was, considering how badly this situation was escalating. Both Vaska and Falks were paranoid to the point of insanity, and it was going to drive her insane too if they didn't calm down. Thank goodness for Ben...if it weren't for him she really would lose it.
"Okay. PLEASE listen to your brother and calm the frig down!" Her ear went back and she took a deep breath, forcing herself to relax. "Mom will be fine. Apocalypse won't harm her." If she said it with enough conviction, she could convince herself too, right? Really, she wasn't entirely sure that the King wouldn't fly off the handle a bit, like he had before. Still, they were both nobles. And he was apparently boffing Xiven, so that should give him some incentive to lay off her mom?
She hoped.
Oh wow. This boy was something else... "Vaska...Vaska. He does not and cannot steal Ranks. That is impossible! Whatever else happens to Mom, that -will not- be it, I can assure you. Now if you are all that worried, we can go and find her." Though really, she wasn't sure how much she wanted to really do that...after all, that had the unfortunate side effect of a possible run in with Apocalypse himself, something she would really rather avoid.
She -could- go spy and see what was going on, but that would involve leaving her frantic, crazed siblings alone, which she wasn't about to do. She looked pleadingly at Ben, hoping he'd be able to help a bit at, if not calming the two, at least distracting them.

Falks' panic only grew as his brother spoke. Rank stealing? Making Mommy a slave? He only really heard choice bits and pieces of what the panicked bat was saying. A horrible cry, a cross between a whimper and a squeak, escaped him as he continued to cry despite his sister's reassuring.
Benedict wanted to bang his head against a wall. Things always seemed to turn into complete chaos. He watched silently as his half sister did her best to handle the situation. Of course Falks just grew louder as he started crying more.
"I'm assuming it's too late to catch her?" Ben mused as he peered over Falks' shoulder. "But I guess you should at least make an effort. Otherwise I'm sure Vaska and Falks will blow a gasket. More so than now."
He would have shrugged if he had shoulders. "I would help, but you know. Can't." A hint of bitterness was in his voice.

Sometimes, Vaska loved how easy it was to get Falks riled up. It made it so much easier for him to rally his own desperation to a breaking point when there was someone next to him who was panicking just as badly. It took the place of genuine meaning, especially when all of the adults around him were assuring him that there was nothing to freak out over.
In this case, he was almost positive that there was a good reason to freak out. Ben and their half-sister were just telling him otherwise to try and force him to calm down so that he wouldn't do something rash. He made a high-pitched noise as he rocked back on his heels again, looking from feline to feline hybrid to skull and back. Then his ears flattened back, red eyes narrowing as he rounded on Eldy. "You're LYING." He announced, then took a deep breath. There was no way he was going to get by with announcing that and not giving any reason.
That wasn't a concern. Vaska's mind was fast and sharp as nails, so he'd figured everything out.
"Why wouldn't he hurt her? He hurt you, didn't he?" The little bat stalked a few steps closer, almost hyperventilating in his eagerness to get all the words out. "And the ranks -- he's just got that ability -- He didn't used to be a King, and now Rhi-Rhi, and..."
Quite a lot was lost in his rapid speech. The best part was that the little insane Solandrian didn't seem to have the slightest idea of how disjointed his statement had come out. He just stared expectantly at the feline.

Well, this was just...utterly fantastic. Wonderful. Now she was being called a liar (for what she was sure was not the first time in this conversation...) and having more nonsense about Rank-stealing thrown at her. Unfortunately the first question out of the Bat's mouth? Actually did make sense. He hurt you, didn't he? Well. Crap. The words "Yes, but I'm not a titled Court noble" were on the tip of her tongue, when she abruptly decided it would no longer be productive to sit here arguing with her insane half siblings. She glanced at Ben.
"All right, all right. Vaska, you...might be right." Oh boy, this was going to be harder than she thought. Hard enough admitting you were wrong in the first place, let alone when you were actually right. "So if you two -stay here-, then I will go check on Mom real fast and come back here, okay?" Fixing them both with a stern look (and Ben with a rather helpless one) she then left the room, making sure to shut the door firmly behind her.
She got to Apocalypse's room just in time to see a streak of purple and white dash off down the the hallway. Was that...crying she heard? "Mom!" she yelled, and tried to give chase...but, while she'd managed to overcome the handicap to stealth, she still wasn't able to run as fast as her mother with the heavy metal ball attached to one of her back feet, and she ended up panting in the corridor with no sign of the woman. With a sigh, she headed back towards the room, hoping to get some clue of what in the world had happened...she was, frankly, a bit scared, and not much scared her. Her mother had been -crying-. How often had she ever actually seen that woman cry?
But all thoughts of whatever she was planning suddenly flew out of her head as the door opened again, and she quickly darted into the shadows. Please don't let that be Apocalypse...
((ooc: Kari and I planned this part out a while ago...Xenon if you want you can have Vaska follow or Pale do something, but otherwise Xiven and Eldy are just going to have a brief convo here (if I remember correctly)))

For a brief moment Benedict wanted to announce that he was a person too despite being attached to his panicked brother. He refrained, however, when Eldy gave him the helpless look. He would gave given her a timid smile, instead he yanked on Falks' mane.
The boy was still panicking as the Torquehelm cat left the room. It was a little more controlled, but he was still whimpering and muttering about Peaches getting eaten by Apocalypse.
The explosion had happened, and Eldy was far too late to catch her dashing mother. Xiven, however, was having a nice little discussion with Apocalypse. Well, no, it wasn't nice and all. It was the equivalent of talking to a brick wall half the time. Why couldn't the two of them just get along? Was it really that hard to put up with each other?
When the conversation was over the Queen waltzed out of his room, still frustrated over the whole situation. She didn't notice her sister in the shadows until she almost stepped on her.
"What... are you doing here?"
(( OOC: <3 you remember correctly, that is what we discussed! ))

The figure had a human form, and Eldy crouched farther into the shadows until she was sure who it was...but whoever it was walked a lot faster than she had anticipated, and she stifled a surprised yowl as she was nearly stepped on, fluffing up instantly...and as soon as she heard the voice of her sister, confusion flickered across her face. When did Xiven get a human form? She would gripe about being the last to know, but considering she was the one who was gone for so many months...
She looked up at Xiven, purple eyes glinting. "I was checking on Mom. Our weirdo half siblings were worried Apocalypse would...eat her, or steal her Rank, or something ridiculous like that." She shot a careful look up at her, and then a wary half glance to the door she knew the man was behind. Narrowing her eyes and standing up straighter, she looked directly at the Queen. "...What happened between him and Mom? I saw her run off but couldn't catch her....she seemed upset." A strong note of worry took over her voice at the end. After all, Peaches was more important to Eldy than anyone else in the world, and always had been.

Xiven stared for a moment as she listened to her sister speak. Her comments about their half siblings sounded about right. Falks and Vaska were paranoid about just about everything. And then poor Benedict had to put up with the pair of them.
Her forehead wrinkled at the question. Xiven glanced back at the door that was Apocalypse's office. They shouldn't discuss this out here. He was probably going to come out any minute anyway. Xiven motioned for her sister to follow her. Talking and walking was the only way the woman could manage to stay sane at this point.
"Mom was upset because of your ear," she began as her heals tapped against the floor. The thought never crossed her mind that Eldy hadn't seen her human form. "And she got into an "argument" with Apocalypse. Both of them... are impossible sometimes. I don't know why it's so hard for them to get along."

The Cat did not need to be told twice to move away from another potential meeting with Apocalypse, who she hoped to never have to see much of again. Of course, if what her mother said was true regarding him and Xiven, which she had no doubt it was...ugh, but she really didn't need to be thinking about that unplesantness right now, on top of everything else!
The afore-mentioned ear went back, the unreasonable part of Eldryia feeling like that statement had been an accusation of some kind, but she held her tongue until the other girl had finished. Well...-that- was hardly a good answer. Was she going to get a better one, though? She frowned, paws making no noise on the floor out of habit. "Who knows. Maybe it's just...his temper." She snorted slightly. Let Xiven defend him if she cared about him so much, but she couldn't deny he had problems. "But did Mom get hurt? I mean physically." That was what she absolutely had to know for sure before she returned to the room where two crazy kids and one sane skull would be waiting. Glancing at Xiven out of the corner of her eye, she belatedly added, "Congratulations. On human form." Someday, she might have one too...of course, she had to get biped first. Hah.
