It was a strange mixture of good sense, experience, and spontaneous naivety the leveret possessed. Some of those blanks may well have been the result of her just not wanting to confront certain reveletaions... but when they were spelled out one had to file it away and keep working! She herself was maintaining most of her calm thanks to a realization mirroring the Aisha's. Sure she could become a Doe someday.... maybe... but for now two leverets was just enough to handle the Jack and his Does. There was no way that poor Talaith (especially with her bad adjustment to the climate) could handle Dorian, his three consorts, and the warren.
The interruption of the brushing is accepted with a deferential scoot back, various grooming tools tucked away while the highland Doe rouses to what the little leveret can only perceive as a loom. Between the natural difference in size and the little morganberry's habit of slouching down to escape exceptional notice... it was a wee bit intimidating. Like as not the longer that the close scrutiny continued, the lower the brilliant little leveret would slowly sink.
"Laurelin, Miss Aisha." she'll answer. She can hardly read minds, but such a close eye sometimes ended in a burst of temper from Does. A leveret should be beneath the radar when it comes to a threat on a Doe's favor with their Jack, but between the lop ears, submissive demeanor, and lovely coloration... one never knew. As for being a pet... there was many a leveret who suffered much worse treatment. At least a percieved pet was likely to be in the favor of the one that saw them that way, and there was even a chance of special treatment!

There was a pause, with Aisha considering the name thoughtfully. Finally, she gave a smile. Yes, she liked this leveret. She was sweet, at the very least. She didn't know how she'd like her if she ever became a Doe.. she may become vain of those ears... Was she jealous of Dorian's attentions? The very thought of it made her have to suppress a shudder. No, jealousy was not a part of it. It was more likely that she wouldn't look forward to the greedy Morganberry attitude and vanity.
"What a lovely name. Would you mind if I possibly call you by something shorter? A term of endearment, perhaps? Did your Nanna ever have something she called you by?" Why was she thrilled by that prospect? Why didn't she want to use the leveret's real name? It was a long name.. one that sounded like a Doe's name, really. She didn't want to think of her as a Doe.

Whatever the reason that it thrilled the Doe, little Laurelin suspected not a thing. "Well... Laur if you like, Miss." she'll offer. "Or if you want you can call me something else." Perhaps a hasty offer, or perhaps the highland Doe would have decided on another term on her own. Nanny'd been predictably consistent in trying to use the leveret's full name, and for just the same reason that Aisha preferred not to.
There was all manner of potential in the little morganberry. Perhaps she'd become more vain.... more demanding. Then again it may well take her a long time to unlearn all her years of assumed behaviors as a leveret, which could well prove embarrassing to poor Dorian. Either way it wasn't really here nor there... If Laurelin became a Doe at all, it would be in the reasonably distant future. Why should either of them let it cause them concern?

Yes, that would work, or perhaps something similar. "Laur.. Lauri.. something of similar effect. Yes, that will do." Her intense expression broke into a soft smile, certainly something that was rare upon the intense and stoic face of the Highlander though. Then again, it had proved to be an emotional day thus far.
Straightening up further, she ran her paws over the silky strands absently, not ordering the leveret off her bed but rather... reflecting on things. "... Thank you. My mother used to comb my hair. She had a touch rougher hand than yours, but she meant well. It is comforting to have someone to perform such a task." She admitted, and in the way that the words escaped her mouth like a great confession, it was obvious that she rarely gave such comments. No, she liked to keep to herself, most of the times. One of the only people she truly talked to would be Talaith.

Oh, but how the little creature bloomed beneath even the simplest of praise! She was positively aglow, and it made her technicolor coat absolutely shine.
"Oh, I would like that, Miss!" she can't help but exclaim, sweetly and honestly pleased to be gifted with a pet-name of sorts. None of the Does in her last warren had been so kind, or even pretended it! Their nicknames for her were far more unkind, to say the very least. Whiskers twitching and long ears somehow flicked to a childishly pleased angle, the leveret even dares give her tail-tuft a flick.
And the confession was a greater gift still! Round grew her pale pink eyes, her eagerness to please only evidenced further- "I will brush your hair anytime you wish it, Miss Aisha! Anything to make you comfortable."

Aisha offered a smile, but for a moment, she really had nothing else to say. Should she just.. keep talking, or send the leveret away? That seemed a terribly harsh thing to do. Besides, what would she do if the leveret left? Mope some more? Aisha smoothed her face fur thoughtfully.
"You know.. I don't want to stay inside all day. It is so terribly depressing. I believe the dust storms have settled for today. Would you come with me to take a walk outside? Surely Dorian cannot complain of me going outside if I have an escort." That last part literally dripped of malice, her brows furrowing with absolute frustration. "I mean, if he didn't have the decency to take me to that party, then he can't -possibly- expect me to stay indoors and -rot-. Can he??" Her voice had begun to go up a pitch, threatening to break with emotion again. Right now, she -hated- that Jack. Absolutely hated him.
