Fetu resisted the urge to chew on her pen while waiting for the next victims to show up. They had agreed to cooperate with questioning in the police station proper when she asked, which she greatly appreciated. It wouldn't be appropriate to ask children to meet her somewhere after dark and going outside in broad daylight could be torturous, even with her glasses and some sort of covering. Here she could carefully angle the slats on the windows to point light up and away from where she would be sitting, leaving much of the room in shadow. They would just have to be okay with that. She squinted through the lenses of the shaded lab glasses. Her eyes wandered down to the notepad in front of her, open to a page with a few hastily scribbled details and space for more. She'd read their complaint and hoped they would provide a tidbit of useful information to help her in locating these thieves. When they arrived at the front desk, the Corporal would be able to direct them to the small meeting room where she waited. It consisted of nothing more than a table, several chairs that were built to accommodate most forms, and a window. [Case Post Count: 4/15]

"Lilac, must we do this? I can just buy a new purse, really..." Mari pleaded with her sister as they followed some shadowy figure through several tiny, creepy little hallways. "This place gives me the heebies!""Stop being a baby, Mari. That purse was your favorite, not to mention all the crap you had in there. Plus it's fun! It's like an adventure, talking to the police!" The otter replied, her eyes roving as she took the wonders of the station into permanent memory. It was going to be her working in here someday, not giving a statement about a silly purse snatching. Lilac was the first into the room; she immediately took the chair closest to Fetu, her chains clinking ever so slightly against the metal of the chair. Mari followed more apprehensively and took the chair next to Lilac. They both sat in silence, waiting for Fetu to speak, though their expressions gave themselves away; Lilac was practically grinning, and Mari wouldn't look up.

Fetu watched the girls come in and tried to guess at their ages. They looked young, just barely into their teens. The two criminals in question really preferred victims who didn't look like they'd be able to defend themselves or have the gumption to speak to the police, didn't they? It only made sense, but... well. That was why she and her partners were trying to track them down.
For now, she wore a politely official face. The effect was ruined somewhat by her odd glasses, through which they wouldn't be able to see much of her eyes beyond an impression of darkness.
"Mari, Lilac, thank you for agreeing to meet me here. I understand from your report that the two men in question stole something that belonged to you. My name is Officer Fetu and I'm going to be doing my best to catch the pair of them and place them under arrest. If you have any questions, now is the time to ask them. Afterward, I'd like to hear your account of the periods before, during, and after the crime."

Lilac fidgeted in her chair while Mari tried to figure out more about the person in front of them without actually looking up. Their eyes were covered by strange glasses and their ribcage seemed to be completely exposed.. that looked painful. The hybrid wasn't very trusting by nature, and despite the police's motto of helping others, she was still skeptical about talking about the robbery to someone she didn't know. Lilac had no such reservations.
"No probs!" The otter replied cheerfully.
The sisters exchanged glances; no questions were to be had. Mari stayed sullenly silent, so Lilac shrugged and started their tale of petty theft.
"Well, we was goin' to the market for Ma like we do everyday cuz' she's lazy and doesn't like to leave the house. Usually Indi - uh, that's our brother - comes with us, but he hasn' been feeling well so we left him home. We got there and were half'ay through the apples when this dude comes and g-snatches Mari's purse like no tomorra'! I chased him all the way through the market but I lost him 'round the oranges." The otter stated, with a firm nod of her head.
Mari stared at her sister, waiting for the details to come out. You know, what her purse looked like, what the man looked like, etc? Stupid otter. Grumblingly, she took up the rest of it, "My purse is a small square, purple, with green sequins in a vine pattern. The coins for the market were in there, as long as a small comb and a few necklaces of mine. It was hard to tell what the man looked like, but I'm pretty sure he was a full-blooded rodent. I'm pretty sure he was at least half Morganberry - he was very red."

It certainly helped Fetu that the Torquehelm sibling was so outgoing. Maybe that was her way of coping with the crushing misery and uselessness that seemed to characterize the realm? She didn't know and, truth be told, she didn't care in the slightest. It was just an idle thought. She remembered Queen Lysaras and the apparent ineffectiveness of the woman, even though her mother always tried to paint a pretty picture of the situation. Her pen scratched across the paper as she listening, making notes and underlining a few important bits. The last sentence of the colorful sibling made her pause with the pen about an inch above the table and look up at the girl. "Rodent? Could he have been a weasel? And was the other predominant color on his coat black? We were looking at a pair of known thieves as the suspects in this case, but both of them are from Corvistowne, red Corvies. Can you think of any other details to describe your robber?"If she couldn't, this was going to throw a wrench in things. She'd picked out this case because someone else on the force had associated it with the two. Had the girls not given much detail before? Or had someone mis-recorded something? If this wasn't Pintel and Ragetti, it was useless to her. Damn. [Case Post Count: 6/15]

(( XD I totally never saw that thread. *works it in*))
Lilac gave her sister a disgruntled look for adding detail on, though the sentiment was more at herself for forgetting the details. The otter was much more of a big-picture person than Mari, but that didn't mean she didn't resent it.
Marigold frowned, her eyes fixtated on the table in front of her as she did her best to recall the brief glimpse she'd had of the man's hide. It had seemed Morganberry at the time - it had been a very vibrant red - but there had definitely seemed like something else there was in there. Perhaps she'd been wrong. "He could've been a weasel, I really couldn't tell; he was running quite fast. Something small and leggy. As for the realm... maybe it was Corvistowne." She admitted reluctantly, disliking her own unsurity. "He was partially red, and it was striped like Corvies usually are.. I remember thinking he was part Morganberry because the rest of his coat was so dark, but it makes sense that he was Corvistowne if it was actually black." She said slowly, then shrugged and turned to her sister to see if there was anything else to add.
Lilac pondered for a moment. "I think 'e musta been Spades, the way he ran so fast. The only person I've ever seen run that fast is Ma - she's a Spade - and I can usually outrun everyone else. This guy, though, he jus' sped the bloody hell away from me!"

((*giggles* Very smooth incorporation!))
"Sometimes the hands on mustelids and rodents can be hard to differentiate," Fetu commented, making a few more notes. "And Corvies share colorations with several other species, including Torquehelms and Morganberries. Very interesting about the speed, though. Thank you for that detail. The man in question would be a Spade." And she hadn't mentioned that detail to them, so it would hold more weight in the investigation than the other two.
She tapped her pen against the table for a moment, thinking. If they were able to find the criminals and retrieve the unusually colored and patterned purse, that would pin the crime on them for sure. Would they keep it, though, or would they sell or throw it away immediately? The comb and necklaces could also be useful. The more crimes they could positively attribute to these men, the more likely they would be harshly sentenced. Especially stealing from children, little girls. The chipmunk doubted that judges looked very kindly on those little details.
"Could you please describe the missing items in the purse in more detail, the comb and necklaces? That might be important if we're able to catch the suspects."
