Tybalt made a face at her statement. "That bites -- but I'd bet they would, being attached to you 'n' all."
She had to go through it too? His ears pressed back a little and he shook his head. It wasn't fair at all. To be outright disrespected because of a little mark? It didn't change your intelligence a lick, but no one bothered to stop and think about that. The wolf didn't even try to hide his displeasure.
"At least your parents have it right then." His dad loved him, but... Well, that was angst for another day. "But Hearts! Why do they get to think they're so much better just because they're a bunch of..." What was the word that old man had used in the Court? That's right -- "sadists." He snorted and rolled his eyes. "You're probably cooler than the lot of 'em, but I'd be more than happy to help ya beat some respect into 'em 'till they figure that out." Though Lethe often managed to keep him out of most trouble, Tybalt had nothing against starting a fight. A little bit of pain was actually pretty grounding -- or maybe that was the Torque in him speaking?

Linnea had quite a few opinions about Hearts. Considering her father was one, and her one mother was one she really did like the two of them. Other Hearts? Not so much. They didn't seem to be all that... friendly. And sometimes she wondered about her own parents.
"You'd be a sadist too if everyone expected you to be." She said after a moment. "It's like the stereotype that we're workers to some degree."
And to another she agreed that most, if not all, the people in the palace were sadists. And a little crazy. But who could be sane and in politics? It gave her a very valid reason not to be interested in the Court of Clubs. "I like to think I am cooler than them, but I think it's going to take a lot of effort to actually get people to notice me. I have to be more than a high ranking Club to get respect...."
She tilted her head at the boy. Why were they still standing in the alleyway? "Want to go and get something to eat with me?"

"Phf. Everyone expects me to be an idiot but it's not like I am one." But she did make a point. Clubs were naturally good at hard labor, just like Hearts were naturally inclined to inflict pain. The magic of their being sort of stated that Clubs would be stubborn and Hearts would be sadistic pricks. "True, I guess. But we're definitely way cooler." His tail gave a small wag. "I think you'll definitely be able to get noticed, you're really cool for a girl."
He wasn't great at this complimenting thing, but he meant it. Linnea was the most interesting girl he'd met (other than this sister, but she didn't count).
"Lunch?" Well, he did have a little spending money. "Sure, that sounds great. I just got kicked out of the last place I had been planning to eat so I'm pretty hungry." His tattered tail gave an eager wave and he hopped to his paws.

"You're sweet," she said after a moment, waving a paw. "And I think you should invest in learning a few more compliments. Repetition doesn't impress, sadly. Though you could just be like my... other mother who is terribly blunt when she's not doing her job. She's a Queen of Clubs so she gets away with it most of the time unless it's something to do with my Heart Mom."
Respect was a complex messy thing. And frankly she decided when she was younger that maybe ranking up wouldn't be the best action. Learning magic and how to defend herself seemed like a better course to take. That way even if she ran into a high ranked person she would at least be able to stab them and run without getting too hurt, right?
She'd muse on that matter later.
"Why'd you get kicked out?" she said as she turned to lead the way to the little eatery. It was nothing classy but they catered to kids and didn't give her much trouble for not being with an adult.

Tybalt was surprised by her compliment. Sweet? No one called him sweet... but, of course, she backed it up by reminding him just how unaccustomed to compliments he was.
"Heh, yeah... I don't hand 'em out often, but I'm not often impressed by people either." Little girls especially. They were such noisy, whiny things. He was glad Linnea wasn't like that, or he would've had to just keep on being an ass until she went away. "Blunt works a little better, but I think I'd be better off waiting until I can back up a blunt remark with something more than my teeth." 99.9% of the population could kick his ass regardless of how physically fit he was and he was blatantly aware of it.
Ironically, this all lead back into exactly why they kicked him out. "Because I opened my stupid mouth and made a snotty remark about their poor quality food and service. Apparently it was just me. The nasty Heart inside gave me a nasty shock with her pain ability and threw me out." Lesson learned? Not really.

The squirrel attempted not to roll her eyes. Apparently being a two was quite a lot of trouble, especially if you spoke your mind. It was difficult to be a Club period so.... she really couldn't imagine what it was like. "I guess you could pretend you're my half brother or something. That way they probably won't make any dumb remarks if you're family."
She smiled back at him as she lead the way to the eattery. It was a small place that was decorated plainly. When they entered no one really took notice of the smell that was coming off of Linnea, or the little boy. Mostly because the place was empty except for a few people.
Linnea waved at the gentlemen behind the counter. A rather nice looking Torquehelm with a rather interesting binding around his neck that seemed to stretch it. "Can we place an order or are you on break....?"
"Go ahead little lady," the man said cheerfully.

He sighed at the thought but nodded his head. "Thanks. That typically does the trick. I seem to get a lot less attitude when I'm with my sister, I think people like seeing me on a leash." Why everyone felt the need to treat him like a blasted Ace was beyond him. Just because he was a Club?
He'd met plenty of low ranking cards (admittedly less 2s) that were treated just fine. Sometimes it felt like the world was just out to get him, but he wasn't about to start spewing his misery at her.
Tybalt glanced around once inside the eatery and was pleased by both the lack of customers and the lack of attention. Nice. The waiter was a Torquehelm too, which was cool other than the fact that he'd probably have to keep his clips on even though they annoyed the snot out of him while he ate. Oh well. Once the man behind the counter announced that he would take their order, Tybalt leaned in closer to Linnea and asked, "What would you suggest off the menu?"

"The burgers are really good," she said in response to Tybalt. There was a rather large selection of food on the menu. "There's also the hot dogs, and their fries are pretty good. None of it is very healthy for you but it's good in a pinch you know?"
She wasn't speaking loud enough that the person behind the counter could hear her. So at least she was sort of being polite. She grinned up at the gentlemen. There wasn't much of a debate for her as what to eat. She didn't particularly care as long as it tasted good. So just about anything in this place would do fine. "I'd like to have an order a hot dog, a side of fries and a glass or water, please!" She said cheerfully.
The man behind the counter punched in the numbers in his cash register. "And what do you want?" he said raising an eyebrow at Tybalt. He looked over at Linnea. "Or are you going to order for him?"

Tybalt bobbed his head. He had a thing for fruit and sweets thanks to his sister constantly shoving it down his throat, but meat was good to. Meat was always good. His tail wagged slightly as he debated the menu.
He waited politely for Linnea to finish her order and, as he was about to respond with his own, the waiter had to keep talking. ...Really!? Did he think that Tybalt couldn't order his own meal!? He was... The wolf forcibly kept himself from getting mad. He was here with Linnea, why ruin this for her? "Thanks, I can order for myself," he stated bluntly though without the attitude he had almost spat at the man. "I'd like a cheeseburger and a side of fries with a lemonade for my drink." He bobbed his head, but kept an eye on the man. Would he say anything or would actually be decent and ring him up?

"All right then," the man said as he punched up the total, clearly board with his job and these children. He took the money that was given to him, checking the amount twice just to be insulting. "Should be ready in five minutes. Take a seat and I'll bring it out to you."
Linnea wasn't enamored by the Torque's manners. It seemed like he was especially grumpy today, or perhaps it was the fact that two children were giving him orders. One of which was stinking up the place and the other was a two of Clubs. Oh well. It's not like they were going to give him a tip or anything.
The squirrel scurried over to table designed for people with animal forms. "Shall we sit here?" She asked. She hopped onto the chair and checked the table to see if it was clean. The seats were fairly low, but she figured with a binding like his it would be easier to jump. Unless... that binding really was a clip. "Or do you want to sit at one of the awesome high tables?"
