Poe was quiet for some time, simply listening as the canine talked. He was so bright, and the world was so... on fire. She blinked a couple of times, really wishing that perhaps the world would stop burning while he was around... but it didn't.
She hugged her wings closer to her body, sinking down a little under the weight of her own sorrow. "A bad thing done with good intentions is still a bad thing... Though..." Poe stared at her feet for a long time, feeling the sting of tears at her eyes. Everything was wrong, everything was different. "I know... she did it with good intentions." It was hard admitting that when it all felt so terribly wrong, but she knew somewhere inside that it was true.
Poe nodded solemnly when he went on. "I can move better, now... But..." But it was hard to get home, and she honestly missed the tower and Vren and... A couple of tears trickled miserably down her cheeks. "I'm healthy enough, yes..."
He wouldn't understand, how could he understand? They all stared, they all knew she was different now, broken... But... not. The finch could have screamed, instead she just sunk more heavily and hugged her wings more tightly to her body. He wanted to know about the bindings? How could he not know? Perhaps, then, he really wasn't a demon? Demons understood curses. Which probably meant that the lovely feline was not a demon as well.
"We're all cursed," Poe explained for him. "Through our bindings we hope to one day escape our curse."

She had him tilting his head to the side once more. If something was done with good intentions how could it possibly still be bad? Well, it sort of was ... but in his world the only true bad thing was something awful that was done with the same variety of intention, anything else was just ... accidental. She was making him feel horrible though and his ears drooped a bit at the sound of her voice. He'd heard the same sort of tone come from his brother time and time again and he wasn't at all surprised to see a few tears disappear into her feathers. Now that made him feel worse and he moved forward just a bit to try and touch under her beak with his nose; a very canine way to try and make someone feel better.
He wasn't entirely convinced about this whole ... curse thing. What he was getting out of it was that they weren't born bound; someone else did it to them, nothing truly horrific happened when they were removed or interchanged.... well, not physically anyhow. It seemed... like a simple fix really, but he was totally clueless and didn't want to say anything to make the girl actually burst into tears... so he did the only thing he could think of right now, attempt to change the subject.
Hey, well.... is there anything you want to ask me then?
He tilted his head again and flashed a pretty little smile and waved his tail cheerfully, trying to lighten the mood.

Poe was just so confused lately. This change was horrible and confusing and... She shook a little and desperately fought her urge to collapse under the weight of her own sorrows. The opium could only help so much, but sometimes it only seemed to succeed in making everything feel that much heavier.
O how the woe and angst of the Torquehelm mindset was strong in her right now... Ironic, really, for how she felt so very much like an outcast now.
The way he touched his nose to her chin caused Poe to jump ever so slightly, but she also found herself smiling hesitantly. He was... very sweet, even if he was a demon. The finch heaved a heavy sigh and hugged her wings more firmly to her small frame. "Questions for you?" Poe thought for a moment, thinking about why the little fire demon had come to her region of the world... Maybe? "Where do you come from, little Nova?"

The sorrow of the little avian tugged at his heart something awful, but he didn't exactly know what he could do for her. Normally his bright, bubbly personality and goofy antics did the trick ... but they just weren't having that much of an effect on this girl. He was entirely lost ... but he was trying not to let that show while he simultaneously tried to cheer her up. He was starting to think that wasn't possible ... but he was determined to get even the smallest hint of a smile from her ... anything to show that he'd at least given her a spark of happiness. That's where the questions came in, maybe, just maybe, if he got her mind sidetracked off of herself he could succeed in this new goal.
A combination of the Capitol and the Court of Clubs.
He puffed up his chest a bit to try and draw her attention down to the suit and rank that was there ... demons didn't have those, did they? He knew nothing about demons, it wasn't exactly a topic either side of his family thought to bring up, but stranger things existed according to his mother. Mother had spoken about Cannibals and vampires being real, which he remembered made his brother scoff at the idea and claim the rat-eagle was saying such things in a failed attempt at humor .... but the thought tickled his brain in the most delightful of ways. If those were real ... then Jokers and Rabbits were as well... yeah? Well... maybe demons were too then? It was possible ...
I'm doing a bit of traveling with my banders.... oh! would you like to see them? They enjoy meeting new people.
Well ... maybe those two bright, yellow balls of fur could be useful for something other then keeping him company and carrying things for him on his travels? They might.... be able to relax her a bit more ... maybe. It was worth a shot if she was willing either way and it had his flame colored tail swaying happily once more.

Poe hesitated, watching the fiery canine through bleary eyes.
Could she really say no? Well, yes. Of course she could, that was what you told demons who attempted to cast illusions upon you. Wicked spells and all that...
"I've never seen a tame Bander up close before," Poe agreed quietly. Such simple temptations he offered... Poe was really growing weak to his persuasive kindness. "Well, I do suppose you are a very kind demon, and that it might not hurt to go see your little banders up close... for a little while, perhaps?" Yes, that was well enough. Shaking her head a little, that faraway look still strong in her gaze, Poe slowly inclined her head in submission to her curiosity.
"Do you and your Banders travel to lots of places? Do you see a lot of interesting things?" Poe had never been beyond this wood or The Wood -- other than the one time she had been to the Capital, but that had been brief and terrifying so she chose not to think of it often.

He waited, tail swaying, maw partially open and tongue lolling out for her to answer .... he did so hope she'd accept his offer. He just couldn't pass someone by that seemed like they needed a friend as much as this little avian did. When she finally gave him the affirmative he all but danced in place, that fire shaded tail of his picking up the pace as he took a few steps in the direction of his temporary abode.
Not yet, this is our first trip outside of the capitol. I've been training them for months to listen to commands and carry packs on their backs. I wanna travel the world ... just like my mother was doing.
He peered sideways, just ot make sure she was following, before starting off toward his little apartment. He had more questions for her, but he definitely wanted to wait until she was a bit more coherent .... maybe then she'd beleive he wasn't a demon?

"An adventurer?" Poe mused on this for a moment, playing with the concept that this was not a little fire demon but a burdened hero in a not-so-tragic play. Maybe he was blessed with those flaming wings... or cursed? Yes. Either way, she liked that idea a great deal more, especially knowing him now like she did. This was probably some grand comedy, he looked the part. "What's it like so far? Is it what you expected?"
With a certain lack of inhibition Poe shuffled after the fiery canine, a small smile pulling at the edges of her beak. "I always thought a bit of traveling might be nice... I'd like to see the Villa." Poe sighed happily and, as shuffling along beside him became tedious, gently activated her levitation ability and floated along beside him instead. Drifting now they could pick up the pace a bit, Poe figured her energetic guide might like that.
