A.N. Jesus Christ, I am made of fail. Here is a sad post of sad, after a century of neglect. Feel free to kick me repeatedly in the shins.
___
The ride back had been—well, a ride, no worse or better than any other—but she was glad to be back. It was a simple task to lead Zuberi to Sadie’s office, of course. She figured there was time for sight-seeing later if the woman was so inclined; perhaps Sadie would like to lead her around for a little one-on-one time, ladylike bonding over serial killers perhaps.
Each court had its own décor, but a court was a court when one got right down to it. The same things happened in each. Maybe the Court of Hearts was a little more insane. (A lot more insane? It fluctuated, it seemed.)
The Queen would have been alerted to their arrival, and it was after all a matter of importance. She was glad she had mostly managed to train herself out of the habit of running into doors; it was really a bad time to be embarrassing herself. She rapped on the door.
“Miss Zuberi is here,” she said.

During the time that Thalia had been away, Sadie herself had been far from bored. There was always work to be done, especially as short-handed as the Diamonds were. The Yarrow Queen's own personal paranoia did little to assuage the workload. As new to the courts as she was, she wanted to personally check nearly everything that came through - which was quite a lot of paperwork, it turned out.
With any luck, Thalia would return in short order, and would provide the assistance that Sadie desperately needed.
An advanced messenger informed the Queen of Thalia's return, and of her success. That news alone was enough to delight Sadie. She knew she had chosen the right candidate for this. From all of the rumors that she'd heard, Zuberi was not fond of the courts in the slightest, and yet... She was on her way now. Time was running out for the disgusting man who had killed so many people - and done worse to some. A satisfied smile settled on Sadie's face as she went about preparing herself to meet, first with her potential new Queen, and then with the Midori woman that would help bring Finistris to justice.

At the light knock on the door, Sadie rose and opened it. Thalia was given a wide, warm smile, and ushered into the room. "Excellent. I trust your trip went well enough, Your Majesty?[/b]" The meaning in her words was clear enough.

Thalia's rapid bubbling of happiness first expressed itself as a widening of the eyes and even bigger widening of the grin, but she managed to tame her glee into the smallest and most grateful of smiles, and then to a slightly more somber mien as she remembered that as personally ecstatic as she was at the moment--and her joy could have exploded a house; she thought briefly of weaponizing happiness because truly, it was such a strong emotion, and if a device could be built to take advantage of it--everyone had gathered really to discuss how to deal with a serial killer. Emotional dissonance made her woozy.
"Swimmingly! Thank you." She let the words function with dual meaning, wider smile temporarily creeping back. "Miss Zuberi is just being settled in a bit, and can be fetched whenever you want to see her."
There was going to be a lot to talk about.

Well. That was quite the display. This Thalia was an odd woman, and as different from her mother as two people could be, but that wasn't a problem. Sadie sensed that she was going to enjoy having someone who was so open with her happiness around - even if she only saw it for the briefest of moments. Admittedly, there was also some aspect of her that was curious to see how Mnem would react to having her daughter present in the Court as a Queen, but that was a part of her she was quick to squash.
Even so, Sadie smirked inwardly. Things were going to get interesting around here very soon, and not just because she finally had the help she needed to capture Finistris and bring him to justice.
"I will call for her in a few hours, once I'm sure she's feeling comfortable.[/b]" She opened a drawer, pulled out a key, and handed it to Thalia. "These are for your rooms. I hope you find it to your liking. If not, we can make arrangements either to find you another one or to improve that one.[/b]"
The short woman turned back to her desk, settling down into her seat and crossing her feet at the ankles. "I will see you tomorrow morning. We'll go over some of your more immediate duties then. I suggest you get some good rest before then. And...[/b]" A small pause, followed by a slightly larger smile. "Congratulations.[/b]"

Thalia accepted the key and the congratulations with one last thanks and a grin, before seeing herself out of Sadie's office.
She turned the key over in her paw, then her tentacle, then her hair, enjoying the tiny weight of it from three different perspectives. It all traced back to the same root feeling, though: blissful accomplishment, trailed by a sort of dreamy contentment. Perhaps the trip had worn her out, and she needed to catch some rest. She was going to investigate the rooms, not worried about their state, as such--she came from two enterprising genetic lines that knew how to utilize any space to its fullest, and she had confidence her ability to arrange things to her liking.
Then, if she felt like moving, she might go say hi to Mom. This, she thought, was an excellent plan.
She rolled the key around again. An excellent plan indeed.
