At Shelby's question, Alicia frowned slightly, just for a moment before her smile returned. The other leveret wasn't exactly subtle, but he had a good point. She should start the run home before it started to get dark, and thus even colder. She glanced at Seena, trying to determine if she was overstaying her welcome already, or if it would be better to wait until the Doe dismissed her. Underground, as most warrens were, it was hard to tell the passage of time.

She looked around quickly for a clock and when she noted the time marked out by the timepiece, she was surprised at how late it had gotten. "Oh dear, I've been enjoying your company so much I've entirely lost track of the time." This was the truth, as well as the polite thing to say. Good conversation apparently made the afternoon pass more rapidly than she expected, and it was indeed time for her to going, no matter if Seena dismissed her or not. "I am expected back around dark, although I have been assigned no other tasks for this evening, as it was expected that the rain would make travel slower." She inclined her head to the Selkie Doe respectfully. "If it pleases you, Miss Seena, I should be going. I will be sure to make it known that I was treated with the utmost hospitality, and that the letter was received."

Alicia then turned to the younger leveret. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Shelby." She said, smiling. All in all, the afternoon had been infinitely more pleasant than the morning, and as much as she dreaded the thought of going back out into the damp weather, Alicia was eager to get home in a timely fashion, lest the Czar think she dawdled too much on the errand.

Seena quirked an eyebrow as her son...did something a bit more bold (and, dare she hope, responsible?) than she would have expected. Still, he had a point. They could hardly keep Leveret guests overnight. She smiled, standing up easily and nodding assent. "Yes, I imagine that would be best. I wish you a safe journey home, Alicia," the Doe said, and though she didn't tell the Leveret in words that she'd enjoyed her company for the afternoon, her tone conveyed it loud and clear. She began to walk out of the room, expecting the two Leverets to follow. As hostess, she was still going to see the guest out, social statures be hanged.

She tilted an ear when she got out into the hall. "It does sound like the rain has lightened up a touch. Best hurry along before it starts again." Seena smiled and stood beside the entrance.

For a moment, Shelby was worried he'd offended their guest, even though he hadn't intended to rush her...but she took it with a grace that she'd shown in everything that afternoon, and Shelby let himself relax. He followed his Mum and Alicia out to the hall before turning toward the latter. "Please, the pleasure was all mine," he said, hopping over to hold the door for her. "We'll make sure that letter gets to Heike, no worries!" Part of him wanted to draw out the goodbye a bit, to delay his inevitable return to work, but that would just be silly at this point.

As the Leveret left, Shelby would hop back over to his Mum, and Seena would smile, rub him on the head with a paw, and whisper that he'd done well.
