Seth watched as the boy - well, man, he supposed, the whippet just looked young to Seth's eyes - considered his question. When his drink arrived he took a welcoming sip of it, letting the silence settle comfortably around them as Jinan thought. That was the brilliant part about food. Awkward pauses could be filled with eating, and that made them much less awkward.
"Hah,[/b]" Seth chortled when the other Solandrian finally came up with an answer. "Yeah, family is important, I know that. Did you consider that maybe your dear mother would stop popping them out if she had to take care of all of 'em, though? Might be worth thinking about. There's a lot to see and do in the world, once you get yourself out there, and if you don't like it... Shit, no one says you can't come home.[/b]"
He took another deep sip of beer, wiping some stray drips out of his stubble. It was getting rather long, almost more of a beard at this point, but it had been a while since he'd last shaved. In a way, he understood Jinan's lack of desire to leave. A lot of his friends had thought he was insane when he'd finally left, but the job had called for him to move. He liked the job, and so he did move. Had there been no job, Seth sometimes wondered if he ever would have left.
Outside influence was a great thing, sometimes.
He turned back towards the canine and quirked an eyebrow. "Well, I dunno if you'd be interested, but if you feel like giving the Capital a shot, you're free to come with me. Nothing permanent. Just to... see what you think, you know?[/b]"

Jin gave him a long, scrutinizing look--and relaxed again when he didn't find any hint of trickery. Seth had been nothing but benign companionship so far, after all, and there was no reason to do anything but take the offer at face value. If he ended up swabbing the lower deck of a Selkie fishing vessel while the batman laughed himself off to parts unknown, it was his own fault.
He sat a moment and tried to think of a way to say "oh fuck yes" that didn't sound desperate; then he tried to think of a way to say ciao to his mother that wouldn't end in blunt force trauma. The former came out as "If you don't mind toting the extra baggage back with you."
He suspected the latter would end up being a hastily and sloppily scribbled note or a message to the bartender. But what could you do? If he thought about it he might back out.

Hah! The canine's excitement wasn't hard to miss, and Seth grinned broadly. He could remember feeling that eager once, years ago, when he too had been presented with an opportunity like this one. There was something of a magnet holding people here, the desire for sameness even when one knew life could be better elsewhere. The Glacier was stifling to those who desired more, and that was to say nothing of Jin's light build and scrawny ass. The canine had even more reason to look fondly upon leaving than even Seth had.
"Great. Get your shit together, then, I plan on taking off sometime tomorrow. It's a bit of a trip, so pack as light as you can manage.[/b]" After all, Seth wasn't going to carry any of Jin's stuff. He knocked back his glass, draining what was left of the beverage and set the glass down with a happy sigh.
It would be nice to leave with some company. The trip here had been almost too quiet, and Jin was an agreeable sort. "I'll meet you back here. We'll get some vodka and then head out.[/b]"
Vodka would be essential for the trip, and he planned on bringing some to Heilyn. The taste of the Glacier couldn't be beat.
((Shall we call it closed? <3 -pats poor dead Seth-))
