"No! No, stay away from me!" The hysterical scream rang out through the midnight hallways of the Court, and a small body hurtled forward, unseeing of anything in his way. He ran into corners, smacked into walls, tripped over carpets, and it was a good thing that he was nowhere near any stairs, or he'd have likely gone tumbling straight down them as well. Whatever damage he might have been doing to himself in his fear was ignored, or likely not even noticed. Vier knew they were there, half-seen figures that warped and twisted through what he could see through his blindfold. Whenever there were thinner patches in the cloth, they became even more distinct, more visible. Seeing gave them form, gave them shape, and he didn't know how they hadn't invaded the world already when there were so many people around who could see perfectly fine. So maybe it was just him, he was the only one that could see them, and they wanted to get rid of the blindfold and make him see them and make him make them real and then they'd- "GET AWAY!!!"

Leona's new "changes" were a lot to get used to - physically, yes, but even more so emotionally. She had been... distorted. Changed into a mixed realm and breed, her form elongated unnaturally, her spine marred with tattered, scaled wings, and her fur patched with scales. In addition, some part of her mind didn't want to leave behind the strange helmet she had acquired, while another part very much did. Her family's supportive but varying reactions left her feeling even more off-balance. As did the complete and utter end of her lifelong ambition up to that point. She would never be a proper lady looking like this. Not as she'd imagined herself. Not with broken, disgusting wings and a neck as long as a snake's. As far as the mages her mother had called in could tell, she was part serpent. And part Highlander. And no proper Solandrian Governor would want such a weird lady, now would they? She had convinced herself of it. Still walking on emotional eggshells, she padded from her bedroom to her mother's office, but along the way a terrified SHOUT made her jerk back and flatten herself against the wall. She watched a colorful form barrel past, apparently too panicked at the sight of her to stand her proximity. Or so her mind told her. "To hell with you, too!" she shouted after him, glad her parents were nowhere within earshot, and then started to cry.

The shout made him spin around, because that didn't sound like the shapes he'd heard so far, but it was still angry, and cursing at him. Instinctively he searched for the shape of whatever it was that had yelled at him, even as he shrieked at himself to not do it, don't look, don't you dare, they'll see you and you'll see them and things will go downhill from there!
He hadn't gone far when the she-thing had shouted, and finally he simply collapsed where he was, covering his head with his paws and trying to block out the light, the sight of things, the shapes that were crowding all around him.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry, go away, don't hurt me, I don't want to see any more!!! No more, don't make me, I'm sorry!" He couldn't help himself then, and burst into tears as well, sobbing in a frightened bundle as his feathers shook and trembled all around him. He wanted things to go away. He didn't want those Shapes that were leaning over him to be seen by him.

Glancing up through the tears leaking out beneath her silver helmet, Leona saw the Card with watery eyes. He looked like another child, not one she recognized, and why was he in the Court? Just to mock her? A sense of pathetic, dramatic, pitiful angst welled up in her and she snarled through her tears.
"What, so now you just stay to make fun of me?" she demanded, choking back a hiccup that threatened to bubble up. "Like I'm some sort of monster?! I didn't choose this! Who are you? I'll have my mother punish you if you don't stop this right now! She's the Queen of this Court! She won't let you do this!"
And now she was crying in earnest, the tears impossible to stop as she sobbed out the frustrations and fears and sorrows of the past few days. A monster - everyone was going to think she looked horrible! She did look horrible! Her parents were wrong!

"I'm sorry!" he yelled again, curling into a tighter ball and pressing harder against his eyes. The She-person sounded much more...coherent than the other Shapes, but she also said that he would be punished if he didn't stop. "I can't stop! I can't stop seeing, I can't stop Them, They're coming, I don't want to see them!" As he spoke, his voice spiraled up into a terrified yowl and hovered for one long instant at the breaking point, his voice straining on the words.
"Mama!! Papa!! Where were they? Where were his parents? He didn't dare move, especially with the she-person yelling at him right now, so very angry and why was she angry? What had he done? Was she like the Shapes, who wanted him to see their terrible forms and let them into the world? Vier shuddered as, faintly, one of them bent over him from the other side, a long, twisted hand reaching out toward him in a sick parody of comfort.

Tears beneath a mask were much more awkward than Leona had initially imagined. They were making an absolute mess of her fur, sticking beneath the metal, and she didn't even want to imagine what her face would look like if she took it off.
She cried, ignoring him at first, caught up in her own little world of self-pity and anger. After a few moments, though, his words started to worm their way through into her distressed mind. She wanted to see what else he was saying, find out how bad it was. And when she did, it confused her, because he'd switched from her to... 'them'? Whatever that meant?
Blinking away the mess of tears, she ineffectually rubbed her eyes against a foreleg and squinted at him. He was all weirdly tucked up, screaming and babbling and what was his problem?! She was beginning to wonder if he was still talking about her. She really didn't think so.
Had he ever been talking about her...?
Was... was he a crazy person? She shifted, suddenly uneasy. "You need to stop it," she told him in a choked but firm voice. At least, there was only a hint of a waver to it.

The command made him flinch again, fur puffing out in every direction for a moment before it slicked back down against his body. He needed to be small, to be unnoticed, to keep from drawing attention even though that was all he was drawing, because They seemed to be pulled to him, to be able to follow him no matter where he went. He shoved himself away from their looming forms finally, paws scrabbling uselessly against the ground for a moment before he had to stop himself from nearly running into the she-person.
She had a scent. That was something that managed to penetrate part of his terror, to get through to him and register in the part of his mind that wasn't completely subsumed with fear. She had a scent, unlike the Things that weren't real enough yet, that wanted him to make Them real.
With a frightened whine, he pressed himself against her, trying to hide from Them.

Okay, and now the cat was being weird on top of his already noticed crazy. Leona wondered what was wrong with him. Part of her wasn't sure that she wanted to know.
Regardless, she did not want him touching her. An uncomfortable creeping sensation shivered its way down her long spine and she shifed away, becoming more unnerved when he moved with her because of how tightly he'd pressed himself.
So none of this had been directed at her and she had possibly made a fool out of herself, if anyone else had been watching. Wonderful. But no one seemed to have been around besides them. And she wanted away. This was getting to be a little much. She needed to go and clean herself up, for one thing.
"You... you really need to stop. And get off of me. I did not give you permission to touch me. What is wrong with you?" If he didn't leave her alone soon then she was going to have to use one of her powers to get away from him.

((Leona's going to be moving past this point pretty soon so the muse will be harder to summon. If you ever want to get back to it "in the future" or whatnot with these characters, just lemme know.))
