Viola was staring. The anticipation was building, and then the first egg started shaking. She let out a happy cry as she waited on the edge of her seat. The nurse stood on standby with the temporary masks, just in case any of the children had bog in them. It was honestly hard to tell from some of the eggs. It was quite clear that the first child was in distress. The nurse slipped a temporary mask on the child to alleviate the pain and respiratory distress. Viola made a worried sound as she peered over at the child. Suits, if only she could properly hold her dear babies.... Another egg shook. The child inside was mewing as it attempted to push its way out of the shell. It took a few minutes of good struggling for the shell to crack properly. The small feline form continued to push and flail it's way out of the egg shell until it was completely free of the mess. It mewed and tried to seek warmth as the nurse scooped up to clean it off properly.

The third egg suddenly sprang to life, the baby inside shaking it as if desperate to get out and join its siblings. A small slitted nose poked it way through the shell first, followed by a tongue that tasted the air. Using her long neck, she broke more of the eggshell, so as to allow her short front legs out of the confined space. Wobbling a bit, she shuffled her way out slowly, the front legs followed by a long stretch of midsection, then the back legs, and finally, the tail. The little female flicked her tongue out again, and wrapped her long tail around her body. No sooner has she done so did a nurse come over to pick her up to tend to her needs. The warmth that came from being held felt comforting, and the hybrid leaned into the nurse as she was taken across the room.

As the other eggs began to crack and split, the fourth began to tremble. It was subtle at first but shook with increasing urgency as the third child tumbled out of her egg. Feline features weren't meant for this task of splitting through tough shell but instinct drove her forward. Tiny claws pierced through the shell and a tiny nose followed it only to suck in air that made her lungs whimper with protest. Her quest for freedom gained a new level of desperation and finally she shattered through the walls that had held her for all of her minuscule life. Elongated body rolled away from the egg, a piece of shell still stuck to her head as she mewled in distress. The nurse was right there, scooping her up and slipping a mask over her muzzle before beginning to clean and swaddle her. The little feline relaxed instantly, warm and content as she was brought to lay with the rest of her siblings.

Babies. The snake would have clapped if she had the proper appendages. Instead she went to help the nurse, collecting the children and preparing to feed them. It was something that she would have to get used to, and considering two of them had masks... it was going to be interesting.
When they were old enough she might have to introduce them to their father. The thought made her nose wrinkle as she picked up one of the bottles. Zoë, Ciel, Dafne and Adelaide. All cute names for adorable cute kittens. Though the boy should probably have a proper boy's name... though he was a pure highlander so he could take the proper last name. That would make up for it.
She'd need to call up Vana, potentially ask for help. She needed to ask Karrock and Erroll for a bit of extra assistance. So many plans to make and so little time. She offered the small Highland kitten a bottle first.
Babies! She had babies!
(( OOC: <3 shall I close this up, or would you ladies like to have a massive time jump where the kiddos are dragged to the palace when they're older? ))

((I'm happy to do a timeskip <3 Or whatever. Love for kittens. Omg.))
The mask finally found its way onto her muzzle, and the tiny limbs stilled in their flailing. The air that found its way through the apparatus and into her tortured lungs was sweet and pure, exactly what her battered body had needed. Now that the needs of her body were cared for, her mind could settle into itself a bit better, try to put the pieces of the puzzle into their proper places.
The world was so new a thing, but so very familiar.
Surrounded by the squalling forms of her blood-siblings, Zoë found peace. Peace that she had lost in the Before, peace that she'd never before known she would find again. There was still something missing in her heart, but she understood on a deeper level that there would be time to solve that mystery later. Now, her body was crying out for sleep, the effort required to break through the egg's tough shell draining her completely.
Sides settling into a calm rhythm, the kitten slept.

Taking care of children was a difficult task to begin with. Taking care of children with no arms, was far more difficult than the snake could have imagined. But she did it without complaint. In fact she enjoyed every moment on it, spoiling four adorable sweet little babies made her world a brighter place. She had a purpose, and she had a goal. There was also the added bonus of dressing the children up in cute little outfits when she had a moment of free time.
Then there was the matter of their father. She wasn't particularly inclined to bother him. She periodical sent letters to him and the Queen. After all it was the least she could do, and she had no intention of dragging four screaming children all the way to the palace just for him to see them. They wouldn't remember it, and they were more inclined to try and chew each others ears off.
When they were old enough to speak and actually remember something more than five seconds, she decided they were old enough to go and visit.
Ciel was staring a hole into the side of her head. Her ears flicked as she gave her son a small smile. "Behave yourself, sweetie. I know you're excited to see your Daddy but try to keep the questions to a minimum. You too girls."
The kitten stared at the snake for a few moments before turning to play with his toes. "Okay. I'll be good Mummy."
The carriage came to a halt. The young kitten perked as he stared at the door. They were going to finally get to see the palace and Daddy. And he could ask about the man he supposedly looked like. And so many other things!
